Very nice house and garden!
We had a lovely time in the house! Everything was clean and comfy. The weather was really hot, so it was perfect to have all the beds downstairs where the rooms stayed cool even during the heat wave. Very friendly owner, although speaks mostly French. The garden was beautiful and the whole experience was really good. We recommend staying chez Lydia.
We returned to “la petite maison” and Lydia’s gracious hosting for the first week in May, 2018.
We loved visiting in spring just as much as we had in the fall. The country side was bursting with life. Walks that we loved from before were bursting with surprises. We could feel the vitality! Of course, we loved our cozy little home and using the wood stove to give us cheery mornings and evenings. The kitchen is beautifully equipped. As before, the location is perfect for outings to wineries, castles, ancient churches, and local cultural centers. The Cluny market is always a treat. The stud farm in Cluny gave us a wonderful surprise as we witnessed a new sport for us with men riding horses in a game that was between lacrosse and basketball. We love Lydia and her global experience. She is warm, personable, and well informed and connected. We will return, for sure!!!
My favorite stay ,in our three week stay in France
Lydia. Was a Perfect Host!!! Her. Ancient home was Lovely with Great attention to every detail. Her place was Great quiet and elegant .It was warm and cozy! But most of all it was Lydia Herself that made our stay so special, She has traveled all over the World, doing humanitarian work for France. And she shared these adventures with us, We broke bread together and she gave my husband a bottle of wine from her Village, she is so generous and kind! l say Thank You for a Perfect visit Love Judy and Thomas
Lovely cottage in peaceful countryside
This is a very nicely designed and spacious cottage with a beautiful garden, in a hamlet high above gentle countryside. We enjoyed cycling, walking and good wine-tasting! Plenty of interesting local places to visit - Cluny, Cormatin, Macon, Tournus - and a lovely place to return and relax.
Lydia, the owner, is very friendly and helpful, and her dog Virgule came to say hello at the gate every evening!
Our only suggestion would be clearer instructions for finding the cottage when you arrive in the hamlet as it is hard to spot the well which is the marker!
We would absolutely recommend 'la petite maison' to others. Merci Lydia pour une bonne vacance!

Lovely rustic cottage
We spent three weeks here and the description is rather accurate. Lydia has stocked the cottage well and even provided small things such as a lettuce spinner and egg cups. The garden is enclosed, which is great if you bring your dog along. It is also private as the fence shields one from views of the main house. The cottage itself is freestanding from the main house and is in a hamlet about 3km's away from the nearest village, Salornay sur Guy. The ceilings upstairs are vaulted which gives a great impression of space. The countryside in this part of France is lush green and hilly, very beautiful indeed. It is a great place for cycling as the voie vert (dedicated cycling tracks) are nearby and you can hire bicycles there if you prefer to cycle on the flats. If you are up for a hilly cycle you can use Lydia's two bicycles as well. Lydia is very helpful and she provided us assistance during the French fuel strike. Note that the internet provided is not Wi-Fi, but a wired Ethernet connection, so make sure you bring equipment (laptop/tablet) along that will work with a cable. The cottage can be chilly when it is cold outside, but the wood burning stove warms it up very well upstairs. The rooms are separated by curtains so there isn't much sound proofing across the cottage, which may affect light sleepers. Overall, us as a couple with a baby and a small dog had a very good stay.
charming and peaceful
If you are looking for a lovely place to stay in a quiet, and calm little village, this is the place. The house is beautifully renovated with exposed stone walls and cozy touches. Our host was welcoming and helpful. The area is very quiet and great for taking walks and exploring the little villages around. The only problem my husband and I found was that the bedrooms are below the living area and the noise travels. Luckily our daughter is a heavy sleeper but if you have children who are not then they would most likely be disrupted from the noise upstairs. Even so, I highly recommend this property. We visited in early spring when things were just beginning to bloom and we could see that the gardens will be beautiful!
