About the property

The villa and cottage comfortably sleep fourteen people in total.

Casa Laranja is a vibrant and generous Portuguese Quinta (farmhouse) offering the best combination of traditional architecture and modern facilities, perfect for family holidays or gatherings, with Mediterranean gardens, a refreshing pool and providing a secret niche in the Algarve.

This 5 bedroom country villa comfortably sleeps 10 people plus babies with an optional 2 bedroom cottage for up to a further 4 people.

The new owners have invested in a total redecoration of both the main house and cottage this year, and now provide air conditioning in both properties.

The walled gardens and ample terraces are ideal for outdoor living with inviting nooks, shaded seating areas with a built in barbeque surrounding a splendid heated pool. There is a gated entrance and a long driveway that leads around an area of open land to the house and cottage.

In the main villa, welcoming, cool rooms lead from the cosy living room with 3 sofas, satellite TV / DVD and a wood burning fireplace. Wide corridors lead to two ensuite double bedrooms, a twin bedroom and shower room on the ground floor. A farmhouse-style dining room leads through to a fitted kitchen which is fully equipped including a dishwasher, with seating either inside or immediately outside on the covered terrace for al fresco dining. The first floor has two twin bedrooms and a bathroom.

The cottage echoes the rustic and colourful style of the main house and is located on the other side of the pool terrace and is self contained. It has its own kitchen facilities adjoining the cosy living room with wood burning stove, a double bedroom, a twin bedroom and a bathroom all on the ground floor. Both bedrooms have air conditioning units. Wifi internet access is provided as standard in the cottage and the main house, using a mobile network dongle.

10 sun loungers deck the terrace around the pool and there are sun umbrellas, a variety of tables and chairs available.

A beautiful 10m x 5m heated pool with steps in a roman end leads into a shallow end of 80cm to 1.2m and a deep end of 2m. This is a freshwater pool with salt cleaning system. The pool is serviced twice weekly during summer and once weekly during the rest of the year by a competent and reliable professional. A pool-side shower and pool /garden lighting is available.

There are a selection of amenities 7km away in Moncarapacho, Santa Catarina da Fonte do Bispo and São Brás, though smaller outlets can be located between 2 and 3km away from Casa Laranja. A folder with details of a selection of these is available to give you ideas.

The charming beach island of Fuzeta is the nearest beach, located 11km from the villa, with a variety of other beautiful blue flag beaches, slightly further away.

There are excellent golf courses within 10 to 25 minutes drive from the accommodation. The closest are smaller courses and more complete courses can be found just the other side of Tavira in Cabanas or to the west of Faro.

We recommend hiring a car, especially in the heat of summer…and for reaching all the beautiful and interesting places further afield. Car rental, taxi transfers and bicycle hire can be organized with local reputable firms in advance or by calling the local representative.

Casa Laranja is a lovely environment for children of all ages, however, the pool is not fenced and so children must be supervised at all times.

We supply a cot, linen and high chair. Please let us know if you have any other requirements.

Casa Laranja is suitable for elderly as there is a choice of bedrooms on the ground floor and the terrain is manageable as it is mostly on one level.

Although the property is not overlooked, it is semi-detached with a small house at the end of the building by the kitchen, divided off by a high wall and screened fence.

A short drive off a tarmac road leads to the gated entrance of Casa Laranja.

This is generally a quiet countryside location, with small farm holdings nearby. A couple of dogs reside in the neighbours land and in the near vicinity there is a part-time quarry.

Ashtrays are provided for smoking outside the property. Smoking is not permitted inside the property.

Due to the possibility of guests being allergic to animal hair, we would rather not allow pets.

In order to allow time for cleaning between parties, departure is by 10am and arrival is from 4pm, though by prior arrangement we will try to be flexible if we can.

We provide a once weekly linen change and mid-week bathroom towel change including a clean of the bathrooms on request.

There will be some toilet paper and soap for arrivals and a hamper of beverages, with additional breakfast and snacks provided for late arrivals.

Notes:
Arrivals are flexible, though we aim to keep bookings as close as possible. Departure is by 10am and arrival is from 4 pm unless otherwise arranged. We provide a once weekly linen change and towel change including a clean of the bathrooms. Guests will be met at the villa, or otherwise informed where to locate the key and visited soon after arrival. We ensure a prompt and competent service from a team of property managers, who can be contacted at anytime. There will be some toilet paper and soap for arrivals and a hamper of beverages, with additional breakfast and snacks are provided for late arrivals. The cottage and house can be rented in conjunction, or during July and August the main house can be rented alone while the cottage will remain closed if not required.

  • 50% refund if canceled at least 30 days before arrival date.
  • 100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
