Perfect Bordeaux Apartment

  • 5 of 5

This apartment was even better than I expected. The location is the best in the city. Although the entrance is a simple blue street door, once you take the tiny elevator up to the apartment you are transformed into a spacious, modern apartment with spectacular door windows that open to a small balcony with a wonderful view of the city. The apartment is clean and the photos represent it accurately. The kitchen is modern and new. A small carpeted winding staircase leads to the master bedroom above with huge walk in closet and a very large master bath with walk-in shower. The bedroom on the main floor also has a walk-in shower and a sink but the toilet is just outside the bedroom door across the hall so others may use it during the day. Martine was a delight to work with even though I never got to meet her personally. Her friend Eddie met us and explained how everything worked and gave us great suggestions about wine shops. There is a grocery store within a five minute walk. I would definitely rent this apartment again if I return to Bordeaux. I also must mention that on our last evening we were treated to a fire works display that was being held on the river. We watched the fire works from our balcony as they lit up over the opera house - a fabulous farewell indeed!

Great Location

  • 4 of 5

The apartment is almost next to the Opera and within walking distance to everything downtown. I would recommend renting the garage pass as well since parking is difficult in Bordeaux.

Beware that on warm days the rooms get warm. We happened to be there during a heat wave in France in June which is uncommon. The common areas are air conditioned. The bedroom face the back court yard. The main living space face the Allee de Tourny and has a great view with a small but fun balcony.

Over all we were pleased and enjoyed our stay. It worked for us since we did wineries an hour away during the day and stayed in the heart of downtown in the evening.

A special place

  • 5 of 5

This unit is very well appointed and is in a wonderful location. Among many other virtues, it is adjacent to the main tram location. A weekly pass made it possible for us to hop on and off, quickly getting to anywhere very easily.

Don't pass it up.

Superbe location and interior

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful apartment. Outstanding views of the Grand Theatre. The interior is exquisitely and comfortably decorated. The owner's recommendations for restaurants and a Rustic Wine Tour contributed greatly to our enjoyment. Perfect size and space for two couples. Easy access to tram and all sites we wanted to explore. The only downside was having to leave!

Perfect, in every way!

  • 5 of 5

We fell in love with Bordeaux last week.. Made possible by our stay in the lovely apartment! The apartment is everything we hoped for, and more. The location is ideal, as we enjoyed the terrace throughout the day and night. It was fabulous to look out on the Grand Theatre and the square below, catch a glimpse of the Garonne river, and gaze over the Allee de Tourny lined with 18th century buildings, trees and a vintage merry go round! The tram stops are near, or it's an easy walk to everything we wanted. Restaurants and shops are everywhere, so a car is not needed. However, we had one and found parking quite easy in the public parking lot offered by the owner, or you can purchase a pass through the Tourist Office (same lot).

Eddie, the caretaker, was a delight! He was so friendly, helpful and punctual! We appreciated his suggestions and provided a great overview of the house and surrounding area to get us started. The apartment was spotless, beds were so comfortable, kitchen was well stocked, and the bathrooms were decadent! The owner provided helpful written instructions for operating the foreign appliances, which was certainly referenced!

I also loved the layout of the apartment! The master bedroom is on the top floor with windows facing the interior courtyard. It was extremely quiet from inside noises from the living room/kitchen, and certainly shielded us from the all-night revelry of the Bordeaux youth that parties until 5am! We heard none of that unless you were in the living room, where we actually enjoying observing from our balcony before retiring for the evening. The guest bedroom also faces the courtyard and is equally as quiet, and is on the main floor.

The apartment was light and bright! Big windows that could be flung open in the bedrooms, but also had terrific shades to accommodate late sleepers! The living room has 3 sets of French doors that opened to the terrace (that runs the length of the living room), and these allowed terrific light into the apartment.

The elevator was charming and only comfortably fits 2 adults. I must also mention, safety. The apartment building is very secure with a keyed outer door, inner door, and then of course the locks on the unit itself. The area is also safe, but it is a city, with typical "challenged" individuals. The streets appear to be cleaned nightly, as everything is spotless when you venture out each day!

We are ready for our next visit!
