We pride ourselves in offering a 'home from home' experience for our guests by ensuring our properties are comfortable, stylish and well equipped.

Janet Hamilton purchased this apartment in 2003

Why Janet Hamilton chose County Down

Simply....the views are second to none! We have travelled the world and stayed in many wonderful places but the view of the mountains and the bay at Dundrum captured our heart. We plan to retire there and can't imagine ourselves ever parting with it! It has been our pleasure to share it with guests from all around the world and many return each year, sometimes twice or three times a year to enjoy it! I think it has captured their heart also!

What makes this apartment unique

The apartment is one of only three properties at The Quay which have floor to ceiling corner windows taking in both the views of the Bay and the Mountains. We may be bias but we believe we chose the best spot! It is bright and spacious and as soon as you walk in through the doors, we guarantee you will relax! It is totally calm and peaceful and it wouldn't be hard to lose track of time kicking back and enjoying the ever changing views. We take pride in how we present the apartment for our guests and the furnishings, artwork, bedlinen etc are all of good quality. Believe me, we want you to have a wonderful experience and to enjoy your stay at the apartment as much as we do!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We received these lovely comments on a "thank you" card from our recent guests "Dear Janet, We had a really lovely holiday at your wonderful apartment. It is so comfortable and convenient and we will never forget the views of the bay and mountains. There are so many nice places close to Dundrum and we enjoyed walks at Murlough and around the mountains and the weather was mainly good. Many thanks for everything. Best wishes to you and your family"

Apartment at 39 the Quay, Dundrum

  • 5 of 5

Lovely apartment and what a view. You could not help but say WOW when you walked into the main living area and master bedroom. The apartment was very clean, tidy and well stocked with everything you needed and extremely comfortable. Nothing better than sitting on the balcony and just enjoying the view. My husband was constantly attached to his binoculars and searching out wild life. I`m sure if I owned this apartment I would have to live in it my self as waking up in that location every morning made you feel so much better and very relaxed. The owner had also left a welcome card, bottle of wine and some nibbles which were well received after our journey down. The area is very peaceful with some lovely walks just outside the door. We visited some wonderful places including Dundrum castle, Newcastle, Belfast, Portrush and all down the coast to Portaferry then across on the ferry and back to Dundrum. Also If you`ve never been then Giants Causeway and the Rope Bridge are a must do. We would definitely stay in this apartment again if we came back to Northern Ireland, it was well worth the money.

A little piece of Heaven on earth!

  • 5 of 5

This was a very last minute booking but we couldn't have made a better decision. The accommodation was first rate and the setting stunning. It was so relaxing to sit and watch the changing views whether from inside or out on the balcony. Walks on the beach, great food in the local restaurants and complete peace and quiet made this a perfect break. Janet was more than helpful with the booking and made us feel so welcome. We had to tear ourselves away and can't wait to return!!

Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5

This apartment was perfect, we stayed three nights, best for relaxing and views! We visited Dundrum & Castlewellan Castles, went horse back riding, and Belfast (1hour) for the Game of Thrones Location Tour (awesome tour hits all the best spots in Northern Ireland). Good spot for a couple days, wouldn't stay more than 3/4 days unless strictly to relax & enjoy the small town and breathtaking views!

Apartment very well kept, clean, cozy, and owner left cheese & crackers, a very nice touch! Highly recommended;)

First Class Apartment

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful apartment. It was very spacious, comfortable and well-equipped. The views over Dundrum Bay with the Mournes in the background were so relaxing. Within very easy walking distance of some lovely restaurants in Dundrum and a good base to explore the surrounding beaches and countryside. Having stayed in a few self-catering properties recently, my family would rank this as their favourite. We hope to return soon.

This spacious, luxury 3 bedroom apartment offers stunning, uninterrupted mountain and bay views. This is a superb spot for bird-watching and seal-spotting. There is a beach right at your doorstep and you are a short walk to the nature reserve of Murlough Bay and the ruins of Dundrum castle which offers superb views and is great for picnics. The nearby village contains a supermarket, antique shops, beauty salons and some renowned restaurants. You're in Ireland so there are plenty of pubs within walking distance! A short drive away will take you to the town of Newcastle at the foot of the Mournes and Castlewellan where you have access to any number of outdoor activities, golf, fishing, mountain climbing, canoeing, abseiling, sailing, mountain biking, tennis etc. Newcastle has a heated outdoor swimming pool during the summer months. You are a 30 minute drive to Strangford Lough, 40 minutes to Belfast ,1.5 hrs to the stunning Antrim Coast and Giants Causeway and 2 hours to Dublin.

Golf: Royal County Down is one of the oldest and most renowned Golf Clubs in Ireland with traditions dating back for more than one hundred years. In 2007 the Walker Cup matches were held here. Situated in Newcastle, where in the immortal words of Percy French, 'The Mountains of Mourne sweep down to the sea', Royal County Down is not only a fine test of golf but has accompanying scenery that is spellbinding. Alongside the Championship Links, Royal County Down has a second course, The Annesley Links. Laid out beneath the same massive, almost menacing backdrop, the Annesley Links is nowhere near as intimidating or as formidable a challenge as the Championship Links, but then it was never intended to be. It is a course for everyone. (Extracts from the official Royal County Down Golf Course website). For further details tel: (028) 4372 3314
