Jill Holland purchased this Cabin in 2016
Why Jill Holland chose
We purchased this house as a place to have very intentional family time. We love the fact that there is no internet and no cell service! Spending weekends out there playing with our two kids, swimming, cooking, playing games, playing washers has been nothing but amazing!
What makes this Cabin unique
Secluded, remote, quiet, unplugged, directly on the river, no neighbors in sight!
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date. 50% refund if canceled at least 30 days before arrival date.
Cant rate this rental high enough...We had a couple of cold days but even then we sat around a campfire (my Grandson's first) and relaxed in the peaceful solitude...The cabin is right off the Frio river which was just beautiful.
This is a no hunting area so the deer would come within feet of us to eat while we were sitting in our chairs. It felt like living in a Disney cartoon with the deer moments.
We will be staying here again most definitely!
Thanks so much Jarrod. I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay. It is a good thing for us all to unplug and enjoy all of the beauty that nature has to offer from time to time. Please come again anytime!
We had a great time! Cabin was great and the location was great. Wish the river would not have been so low but we walked down both sides of us and found great swimming holes. We will definitely be back!
Thanks Elizabeth, I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay! The river is actually up and beautiful now after all of the rain we had in October. Please come again, we'd love to have you back anytime.
Peaceful and relaxing at a whole other level
Our family had such a great time during our stay! If you want to truly relax and disconnect from the world - reconnect with family, this is the place to do it! No cell service, no Internet, no TV. It was great. My party included 5 girls ages 18-21, my 13 yr old niece, my 9 yr old son, my husband and myself. The house was well equipped for all of us. We were worried going in about having 1 bathroom, but it worked out just fine. The house is rustic and charming, you get a little bit of the outdoor feel with the conveniences of a fully equipped home. Now that's glamping! Added bonus was the soaker tub in the batbroom. The outdoor space was absolutely stunning. The views were great, we had plenty of outdoor seating options. We had some deer visit us and an armadillo. Although the water was a little low, it did not disappoint. A short walk away, was a very nice swimming hole. So glad I made this trip, and we all voted we'd come here again next year! I had my kid's full attention for 4 full days and not a care in the world... playing games, swimming, talking, going for walks. Loved loved loved it!
Thanks Jessica! This is exactly what we hope our guests will experience when they come stay. It is great to unplug and reconnect to life without electronics. Please do come again!
it is definitely glamping
My family and I enjoyed the property, the river, and the nice sitting areas. The kitchen was well stocked with appliances and dishes, utensils, etc. the bathroom has a charming layout, but be advised there are no locks on the bathroom doors. The house was charming... But the problem we ran into were bugs inside the house. I know it's somewhat to be expected when "glamping" in a "rustic "cabin in the Texas hill country in summer time, but I guess I didn't expect so much of it for 195$ a night. Now, I am a Texas native, and we live on a ranch in west Texas, and I grew up camping and at deer leases, so I brushed it off and figured "glamping" and "rustic" were exaggerations. Well, we discovered they are perfectly accurate descriptions. We had scorpions and spiders in the beds, and woke up every morning with new bites. I did mention it to Jill, and she said they would spray.
Just make sure to check your sheets and the walls and under the beds really well, especially in the loft area (most of the scorpions were up there). Even despite our battles with the scorpions and spiders and other mysterious nighttime biting insects inside the cabin, we had a great time. It was nice to unplug, play games with the kids, and sit outside. Just don't brush off the description... It is glamping and the cabin is charming, but definitely rustic.
Jamie, thanks so much for staying with us. I'm sorry you had such a rough time with the spiders and scorpions. In all honesty, we have never experienced this to the degree that you have explained. We have since sprayed and continued spraying so that no one else has to deal with this (hopefully!)
Nice comfortable stay
Thanks Raymond, come again!
Exactly as described!
Rustic and "unplugged" from the hustle and bustle of the internets, cell phones and pixels. Charming place with everything you need - stove, fridge, hot shower, beds, and most importantly - a lovely private view and access to the river. I would definitely come here again for a nugget of serene peace and quiet.
Thanks Danielle! I'm glad you enjoyed our little slice of river heaven as much as we do. Please come again anytime.
