About Ronald Konrady
Hello my name is Ronald Konrady and I am the owner/developer of Heartwood Subdivision and would like to offer you the opportunity to visit us in the High Country and stay a few nights in The Sportsman Lodge. We now have 15 homes completed with 4 permanent residents, and over 40 families from all parts of the country. I lived in Boone for 12 years while developing the property and building many of the cabins. I have recently moved back home to Wrightsville Beach/Wilmington area but travel back to the mountains quite often. In most cases there will be a caretaker on site to meet you upon your arrival and help to ensure you are welcomed and comfortable during your stay. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Ron

Perfect Get Away!
My husband and I stayed here for a Nascar race and it was only about 45 min the track, but the best part was the fireplace. The second day we were there someone dropped off a map of all the area and we got to experience the High Country Wine Trail which was very good! We went to the twisted falls that's only about 10 min away from the cabin. We also got to take the very scenic ways in and out through gravel roads. Owner is extremely nice, and the place just makes you feel more than at home. Plenty of books and covers to crawl up and read. Also lots of room for many people to enjoy the place. Pond has fish in it and the cabin had food to feed them. Some people from the mountain stopped by and were extremely nice. It's defiantly more than a guys weekend place, and would be perfect for families to make memories.
It is always nice to have guest that respect your property and enjoy their stay. I wish I would have had the opportunity to meet Victoris and her husband in person as they seem like delightful and interesting people.
Maybe next time!
This really is a lodge, albeit a nice one.
Simple, quiet, rustic lodge-like accommodations within a remote community in a mountain forest. Good roads in summer but could be difficult in winter. Just a few miles from a beautiful section of the Appalachian Trail and from Watauga Lake. Photos of beautiful views on the rental website are misleading; there are no such views. No wifi, laundry, dishwasher, or modern tv. Kitchen set up (with fridge) is good. Outside deck and fireplace are wonderful. The owner is responsive and easy to deal with. Priced about right, in my opinion.
Our overall experience was memorable. It is quite remote and one needs to be forewarned of drive up the mountain. No WiFi and no antenna/tv, only old VHS tapes available. The cabin and outdoor area is absolutely beautiful. The pond was stocked, very nice. May I suggest taking the masks down? A little creepy for both kids and adults.
The cabin and surrounding area was gorgeous!!
