Lovely house perfectly situated
Lovely property, well equipped to deal with a large family get together. Well situated for access to visit local tourist attractions yet perfect for quiet and relaxing break. Living areas spacious enough to enable several groups convening separately rather than everyone forced into the one area, although living room would comfortably hold our entire group if wanted. Great for different generations to have their own space too though.
Kitchen well equipped to deal with several meals/diets being cooked at the one time with ample room for a large family dining together.
Communication with owner excellent.
Would definitely recommend!
Beautiful Home in Idyllic Setting; Great for Groups
Our family got together to celebrate our Mum turning 60. Fionas home is large, well equipped for groups and has high end finishes. Our family really enjoyed the space particularly the peaceful sun room at the back of the house with triple aspect views and the modern kitchen. The local area is really idyllic with beautiful views of the countryside which we enjoyed driving around and going for walks & jogs. Local pubs and shops are within easy reach by car, we particularly enjoyed visiting the local Avoca wool mill and cafe. Fiona was helpful and communicative throughout and we loved that we could take our family dog along too. Overall highly reccomended.
Great to hear you had a lovely get together with your family. The sunroom really is a bonus. There is something about being out there with a cup of coffee lets you really relax. We have the bluetooth speaker in there as well for those who want to accompany their relaxation there with some music.
Thanks for looking after our home.
Absolutely loved it
Fiona and Dean made us feel welcome from our first email about the property. On arrival, after a long travelling day, we found tea, coffee, and sandwich fixings left for us! The property was immaculately clean and very roomy. Our groups of 8 adults included my dad who has some mobility issues. They kindly prepared the washroom so it was perfect and safe for him. The location was ideal for our day trips and the neighbourhood was lovely. They answered any questions promptly during our visit and left some suggestions for us that made our trip even more special. They are wonderful hosts and the accommodation was stellar. We’ll definitely be back!!
Sounds like your family had a great time, and were well immersed in the location and the local historical sights.
As you found out, Ireland is a very welcoming place, and I believe you were welcomed whole heartedly down in Fitzgeralds pub!
We are also delighted your Dad was comfortable. Its really useful to have that guest bedroom and ensuite on the ground floor.
Finally, we'd love to know, of the recommendations we left, which ones were really memorable as a visitor from Canada.
Fiona & Dean
We had a great weekend in Avoca. The house is large, clean and very bright, and well situated for some beautiful walks and beaches. The well-equipped kitchen/dining room and enormous master bedroom are particularly impressive. Fiona was a fantastic host, providing us with lots of useful local knowledge and responding immediately to our various questions before and during the stay.
Really appreciate your comments. I hope you managed to get to the "Red Kit" Forest Loop above the village on one of your walks.
Its a wonderful, easy loop looking down over the village of Avoca, and there is actually a handy short cut there from the back of our house, so you don't even meet a road to get to the village. Maybe next time, your welcome anytime.
Buíochas ar leith,
Amazing relaxed getaway in an equally amazing house!
Myself, my husband, our four sons their partners and friend all stayed at this amazing house. What can I say! This is truly an amazing house, lovely and clean, plenty of room for everyone to be together and also plenty of rooms for everyone to have their own space.
We spent two wonderful nights here and would definitely go back no question even our little dog was welcomed in by Fiona and she enjoyed running around the safe enclosed back garden. If your looking for a relaxing place to spend some quality time away with your family/ friends I would definitely advise you to look no further.
Thanks again Fiona for everything,
Geraldine & family
Thanks Geraldine. I am delighted to hear you enjoyed our home. It really is a great, spacious house for a big group. As you mentioned, plenty of room to comfortably eat together, relax together, and more importantly, find a spot to have a quiet moment as well!
I'm glad your lovely dog had fun too, our own dog has fully checked out every inch of the garden!
Finally, I am sure you had fun heading down to Fitzgerald's pub. They are very welcoming to all visitors, for many years, since the Ballykissangel days!
Buíochas ar leith,
Visit the famous Avoca Handweavers for traditional Irish clothing and woolen products.
Visit Fitzgeralds Pub, in the village of Avoca, made famous in the "Ballykissangel" series.
Visit Avoca Copper Mines. Abandoned copper mines full of history, that gives the Avoca river its copper colour.
