In a quiet position, just steps from the Church, we propose a two-room apartment with terrace recently renovated composed of a bedroom with two single beds (double on request), kitchen, bathroom with shower. The apartment has air conditioning and heating, for both summer and winter stays. A large living terrace offers the opportunity to dine al fresco (more info on www.in5terre.com).
Apartment was clean. The owner met us at the train station which was very nice and left us a bootle of his home made wine. Thank you Franco.
We found the apartment a little dark , but that could have been due to the weather at the time. It is handy to Da Billie which is a very good local restaurant.
We stayed here for 4 nights, greeted with a bottle of Franco's wine. The apartment is a climb up through Manarola, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Hey, that is how the locals get around town! It took us 10 minutes to walk from the train station to the apartment (and we are both over 60). And we felt less guilty about consuming all that pasta, wine, and gelato! The apartment is clean, well stocked for cooking, and the photos are very accurate. We made our own Italian espresso every morning, had our breakfasts there, and usually our dinner. There are plenty of places to eat in town if you prefer, though. Manarola was our favorite Cinque Terre town because it was quiet and less crowded, especially in the mornings and evenings. Franco has lived there most of his life, so is a wealth information about the area and wine making. We hiked both to Riomaggiore and Corniglia over the hills...highly recommended for the views alone! Fabulous! Grapes were being harvested while we were there, too. The ocean was fairly flat the first day we were there. Ladders are available to easily lower yourself in for an afternoon swim.
Loved our time there!
We loved the place and the welcome by Franco! He gave us wine of their own production and really helped us with our cellphone issues. In passing, we commented how much we like lemons, and he had a bag of lemons from their tree waiting for us when we came back which we used for the next two weeks! The place was very quiet, well equipped, clean and great for our few days stay. There is a steep incline in Manarola but we advise against taking the bus up, we regretted it as walking up is definitely doable with breaks. Also definitely go to Billy's, great food and if you go late you might end up with complimentary liqueur and grappa tasting.
We stayed four nights in this apartment as a jumping off point for exploring the Cinque Terre. We had a car because we are touring Italy but the car was parked on arrival and not moved for the length of our stay. The host greeted us and helped us up to the flat with our bags, and also offered advice about trains and walks in the area. We also got to taste his homemade wine, enjoyed on the outdoor patio (which is a nice respite from the weekend crowds in the town.) The apartment was immaculate and well provisioned for preparing small meals (which we enjoy doing while traveling; there are plenty of eating options in Manarola.) Best time to explore the area is early in the day or in the evening, at sunset. Thank you Franco for an enjoyable stay.
Great spot for touring the Cinque Terre. Manarola is least busy and Franco has a lovely spot above town. He treated us to a glass of wine from his cantina and stories of winemaking in the area which was very special. The apartment is great for 2 people. Thank you Franco and Natalina for a good memories!
My husband and I stayed in Franco's comfortable apartment for 5 nights. Franco and his mother were exceptional hosts and lovely people!
With recommendations on where to hike from Franco, we explored all of the Cinque Terre towns from our perfectly located home.
Franco and his mother were gracious hosts and interesting people with life times of local history and insight. Our trip was enhanced by time spent with Franco during his end of year grape harvest, and in sharing a wonderful meal with Franco and his charming mother.
We had a great stay through rain, thunder and spectacular lightening (which was viewed from the comfort of the apartment), a train strike, and choppy seas, plus days of perfect hiking and sight seeing weather!
We highly recommend Franco's apartment, and Manarola as a home base to explore the surrounding area from.
