Agriturismo Villa Selvatico
- english, french, german, italian
Antonio da Porto is the owner of this beautiful and charming Villa. He is the descendant of an illustrious and ancient family of Vicenza, whose members belong also Luigi da Porto, knight, historian and poet who wrote in the year 1517 the short story 'Romeo and Juliet', from which Shakespeare drew inspiration for the most famous tragedy of all time. Antonio and his family have undertaken since 1980 a work of painstaking restoration of Villa Selvatico, which is dating as construction back at the end of 1400. During the last 15 years, 5 apartments have been obtained from the ancient and historical spaces of the Villa, that since 1997 accommodates guests from all over the world.
Alessandra purchased this Apartment in 1951
Why Alessandra chose Vigonza
This place has been Antonio's family house since his childhood. During the recent years Antonio and his family have come to realize that the special beauty and atmosphere of this historic place could be shared with many other people. Over time, the appreciation that the guests of Villa Selvatico have shown for this place, have encouraged the family from Porto to proceed on this path of enhancement and recovery of the historical buildings, in order to let all the travellers and tourists enjoy this little piece of Italian art and history.

This is a beautiful place, the grounds are clean and the apartment is spacious, clean, updated and perfect for large families. Roberts was a wonderful host, very helpful and accommodating. I highly recommend this place.
An outstanding apartment in a beautiful villa and a bucolic setting.
We had everything we needed in a well-equipped and spacious villa apartment, including outside picnic tables and a large swimming pool. The bucolic setting of the Italian countryside was peaceful, with vistas of farmland, and a comfortable walk on a rural pathway to the nearest town conveniences, past nearby canals, water birds, otters, and the occasional friendly neighbor. We would love to return. If you have gone city to city on an Italian journey, this is the place to draw breath and connect to the magnificent Italian countryside. Very reasonable.
Beautiful rural home
We were a family of 5 and stayed for three nights here. The apartment was beautiful, clean and large. The pool was a welcome relaxation after a hectic tour of Rome. You do need a car as it is in a lovely country area, but there are wonderful restaurants around and stores to buy supplies for a day at the pool. The grounds are beautiful and the owner and manager live right on the property and are very helpful with anything you may need. We wish we could have stayed longer!
Family of 6 loved Villa Selvatico/Le Magnolie
Our family of 6 stayed in Le Magnolie at Villa Selvatico. Having stayed in numerous other pleasant B&Bs, hotels and apartments on this trip from England to Italy, we were delighted to name Le Magnolie our favourite. It has the perfect balance of modern comforts and historic atmosphere, with the relaxed beauty of the farm a welcome change of pace after visiting cities. The pool, bike paths ( with bikes there to borrow ), and fields were much enjoyed by our kids. It was an easy drive to Venice and Padua, although we would recommend taking a bus to Padua, especially on a Saturday; parking was almost impossible. The train to Venice from Dolo was fast enough to do even half day trips there. The da Porta family owners were wonderful. We look forward to returning and exploring the region more.
Great apartment, great location.
We spent 2 happy weeks in Le Magnolie which we all greatly enjoyed. The apartment is spacious, traditionally furnished, provides everything one needs and has air conditioning - most welcome during our first week when the daytime temperatures were 30^ + C! !!
The villa is very well located for visiting Padua, Treviso,Venice, Verona, Vicenza and surrounding countryside. At the end of a days sightseeing, the lovely pool is wonderful for a cooling, relaxing swim and the beautiful park a tranquil setting for a barbecue and a few glasses of wine!!
We ate at the Osterie Moderne in the evening ( a few minutes by car) on four occasions. Each time we thoroughly enjoyed both food, and wine which, together with the friendly efficiency of the staff, created a delightful ambience.
Added to all of the above are the charming Da Porto family who despite having a fascinating, centuries old history are up to date when it comes to correspondence etc and daughter Alessandra speaks excellent English! Their welcome and willingness to help could not be bettered. I should certainly like to return to Villa Selvatico!!!
We stayed in Le Magnolie for a week in June and found it a wonderful place. The pool is very clean and a good temperature. The apartment was very comfortable, very clean, had good wifi, and was well equipped. The da Portos are exceptionally kind people who live in this beautiful villa and were very helpful to us. There are fruit trees on the property, it's walking distance into a small town, there's room to kick a soccer ball around--everything we were looking for. It's a 10 minute drive into Padua, a city we loved, and only about 35 minutes to Venice, an easy ride or you can go halfway by train. We did both. Our only quibble was that the bed in the main bedroom was too soft. A small complaint! The property exudes peace and tranquility, had a great location, and the da Portos were very kind and dignified. We'd go back in a heartbeat. We had two teenage daughters with us and they loved it. Oh, forgot to mention the bikes and bike path, a nice bonus.
Villa Selvatico’s excellent location allows its guests to travel easily around the Veneto region and surrounding areas. The nearest town is Padova, 12 km. Venice is only 30 km far from here and can be reached by train or by car, bike or boat along the Riviera del Brenta. Among them, to the North the walled towns of Marostica, Cittadella, Castelfranco, Bassano, Asolo, to the South Este, Montagnana, Arquà Petrarca and the Monselice citadel. Finally, Verona is just 85 km from Villa Selvatico. You can spend a day at the seaside in Sottomarina, Chioggia and Jesolo, or on the Dolomites, in S.Martino di Castrozza and Cortina. They are all at a distance between 1/2 hour-1 hour 1/2 from here.
