Our 3rd visit to Attadale (first to West Bothy). Still as great as ever. So peaceful. Had wonderful meals at Applecross Inn, Plockton Hotel, Kishorn Seafood Bar & Carron Restaurant. Back to diet next week!! Gardens still wonderful, everyone so friendly. We will return
Authentic and beautifully renovated cottage (even better than the photo's on the site suggest), clean and very well-equipped. The garden is spacious, with a lovely stream, and the best views of Attadale estate and Loch Carron. The estate itself is wonderful, especially for those who love hiking and/or fishing. Very friendly owners and Mrs. Watson at the launderette! The gardens are extensive and lovingly designed and maintained; plenty to discover. The same goes for the very scenic area; there is a lot to see and do. We would warmly recommend this property to anyone!
Beautifully decorated cottage, with a very comfortable, homey feeling set in an amazingly beautiful area near the Isle of Skye in Northwest Scotland. Everything was handled in a most professional and cordial manner from start to finish regarding the rental of and our stay in the West Bothy at Attadale Estate.
I stayed at the cottage for a week with two teenage daughters and we enjoyed it very much. The kitchen was fully stocked with a nice assortment of everything you could need to prepare meals and there is even a caterer on the estate who will prepare home cooked meals to be picked up or brought to your cottage. Everything from homemade bread to natural, healthy pizza! We enjoyed sitting around the wood fire in the evenings watching BBC historical dramas on the DVD player. Since we are from America we thought that was as British as we could get! The Attadale gardens were amazing in their Fall colors...made some great photos. We hope to return in the future!
When we arrived the cottages were beautifully clean and all prepared for us to simply relax into. The area around the cottages is beautiful and many an hour was spent wandering the Attadale Gardens, which were conveniently free for residents of the cottages.Vegetables and herbs from the gardens are also sold and make for a delicious dinner addition, as they are organic and fresh. The cottages were well equipped with all tools needed, and if there was anything wanting, the owners were so welcoming and friendly that it was easy to ask questions. There was also a good supply of books and movies to fill any spare time. It is in a location where it is easy to access beauty spots; such as the Isle of Skye and Loch Ness.
These cottages are well worth staying in for anyone looking for a quiet area to rest and relax.
Our group of 11 thoroughly enjoyed our week-long stay on the Attadale Estate in June 2013. Five of us used Strathan & six used the West Bothy. The latter would benefit from having a second toilet but otherwise we found both properties to be well equipped & maintained and very clean. We very much enjoyed the two meals we purchased from the newly established catering service run by Linda & her husband Soren, a real must for anyone staying at Attadale. This is a great area for walking, hills, scenery and enjoyment of the lovely gardens on the estate. A bit more garden furniture would be good. We came on the recommendation of friends & have no hesitation recommending Attadale to others.
Attadale is a 30,000 acre estate in the North West of Scotland. It stretches from the south shore of Loch Carron to Loch Monar, 15 miles away to the east.
Attadale is ideally situated for touring the North West Highlands. To the North are Applecross, Loch Torridon, Loch Maree and the famous gardens of Inverewe. To the South is the magnificent scenery of Kintail, Glenelg and, at Kyle of Lochalsh, the bridge to Skye.
Attadale Gardens is close by and free access is available to all those who have rented accommodation at Attadale Holiday Cottages.
Lochcarron is but a few miles away around the loch with a number of shops selling useful items.
Other Activities: Fishing, walking, climbing, sailing
Golf: Loch Carron Golf Club - www.lochcarrongolf.co.uk
Lochcarron is a nine hole golf course, although there are actually eleven tees. It measures 3575 yards for eighteen holes and is an enjoyable challenge of accuracy. The Standard Scratch Score and par score for the course is 60.
Every hole on the course offers the golfer something of a challenge.
Whether it is simply avoiding the beach on the first three holes or trying to keep your ball on the humpbacked green at the seventh and sixteenth, all players will find the course a test of skill and character.
Being partly along the shore, a player really knows when the wind blows. Due to the criss-cross nature of the course, the golfer can find themselves faced with a downwind tee shot, then one into the wind and finally a crosswind shot and all in the space of three holes.
The greens are all quite small. Some are flat, some sloping and others with tricky breaks and borrows. They come into their own in the fine summer conditions.
