Peacock Barn is a lovely retreat in the quiet village of Nuneham Courtenay. We had everything we needed during our stay and had easy access to Oxford. There were a couple of gastro pubs nearby in Marsh Baldon and Toot Baldon.
Beautiful Property in Gorgeous Location
This little annex is absolutely delightful. We had a lovely stay. The property sits in the most idyllic location and is surrounded by beautiful countryside. Spotlessly clean and the lovely owner had left us a few provisions which was really appreciated. Peaceful, quiet and relaxing. Lovely village pub with great food just a short 10 mins walk along a lovely country road. You can also be in Oxford in 15 minutes by regular bus service which was perfect. Highly recommend.
Clean, comfortable, peaceful and welcoming.
Gloria and Matt made us feel very welcome.
The Annex was very clean and had everything we needed even little treats were to be found, chocolate on the pillow, little goodie tray and more. The location was lovely and peaceful with Peacocks roaming around. There is a local pub "7 Stars" about 10 - 15 mins away which did lovely food and very friendly.
There is a bus stop a couple of minutes walk away which takes you in to Oxford in 15mins for only £2.20. It's a lively day out.
Lovely, kind and polite guests. They left the annex tidy and clean. We would highly recommend them to other guests!
Beautiful property. Amazing and very relaxing
My husband and I stayed for 4 nights. We found the property to be spotless clean very homely and a relaxing experience. A neighbour greeted us with the key as Gloria had gone away but Gloria still remained in touch by phone. Gloria was a lovely host and thought of everything when fitting out the Annex from coffees to leaving cd for you to listen to. It was very quiet and peaceful and very cozy. The bed was extremely comfortable and I had a fantastic sleep. The bedroom in the annex has the low roof but to be honest my husband is 5ft 11 and he was fine. To be honest there is a list of things I could write but to be honest you have to go there to experience it. The most amazing thing was waking up to peacocks outside your door wanting to be fed. Very close to Oxford and supermarket. A beautiful place . We will be definitely going back. We did not want to leave
Someone did leave a bad review on this property and I really don’t know why they did . I really feel HomeAway should take that review off this property because it really dosent match the property.......
Thank you Tara for the lovely review. The negative review that you saw was left by a couple of scammers who tried to get their money back. We have over 90 excellent reviews on another well known holiday rentals website (we are superhosts).
I hope to see you soon!
A great little cozy 'cottage'!
A very nice place to stay with a very useful central location. My wife and I were there for 3 nights and we would return.
on arriving there was no body around, then found somebody who could not speak english in the adjacent cottage who had to phone the owners, the owner claimed to have emailed myself but i rarely check emails when on holiday so didnt see it. the barn it self was clean and tidy but so small that you could not function or move properly inside, the kitchen had 2 small hobs rather than the usual 4 which was impossibe to cook on as you could only fit 1 pan on at a time! the eating area was right next to the hob so you were literaly eating your food right next to a red hot hob! there was no sofa, more of a block modular seat with no back to it so you were leaning against a hard bare wall when sitting, the material was a very coarse cord. the bedroom was described on the website as not ideal for tall or less mobile people, the bedroom was not fit for purpose at all for anyone of any ability, the bed was inaccessable unless you climbed on it from the bottom and crawled up and in to it as the eaves were so tight and sloped that it was impossible to access the bed or stand or walk in that space, the stair case was very steep and dangerous and hard to negociate and i nearly fell twice! it was tricky to get to the toilet without hitting your self on the sink and shower as these were to crammed together with no room to move. on arrival there was no welcome pack to explain anything or point you in the direction of what switches worked what. the pillows smelt very old and dirty as if they had been used and never washed, very flat and uncomfortable, bed linen was all mismatched, the towels were very course and multicoloured rather than standard fluffy hotel white, it was as if we were using the owners own personal towels! there was no freezer compartment for food. we left a day early as really could not spend another night in there. would never return, extremley disapointed with our brief stay. the barn is not fit to be habited. only gave 1 star as couldnt give zero.
