My 6-year-old son and my parents and I had a really wonderful time staying here. The apartment itself is a work of art -- all built by the owners, and every detail is thoughtful and interesting. We liked just spending time in it relaxing and playing cards or reading or talking. We slept well in the great beds and cooked good meals in the kitchen. The whole property and surrounding area is lovely.
Melanie and Paul are very welcoming and friendly and gave us good advice on places to see. Weesp, which is just a few minutes away by bike or car, is quiet and pretty, and we made several day trips to interesting spots (Marken, Den Hague).
We loved staying here, and recommend it highly!
The apartment was clean and comfortable, cleverly constructed of recycled materials expertly combined, and our hosts very helpful, providing bikes and advice that took us on a beautiful circuit in the countryside. We shopped for groceries in town, a ten-minute bike ride from the farm, and enjoyed our meals on a small terrace outside our apartment. The sound of the train rushing past was atmospheric, as was a rooster next door, and biking along the river Vecht at evening to the restaurant called Pavijoen Uit & Meer was a treat. We visited the working windmill in town (open Saturdays), shopped for raw herring (a favorite of our son) and other delights in this quiet town where people were kind and friendly. I hope we can return here someday, and stay again.
Our family of four stayed here for 4 nights, June 30 - July 4, 2016. Idyllic location, the property was very spacious, clean, and well equipped. Loved the interior decoration of the property. The town of Weesp is beautiful and charming; the property is close by. We loved the proximity of the canal, horses, cows, goats, sheep, ponies, etc. Great for long walks, runs, or bike rides. Several restaurants and pubs in town. We used the park and ride to go into Amsterdam and it was quite easy to find and very good value. The owners were friendly and very helpful. There is a small patio which could be improved with a few planters/ and flowers to make it more cosy. Would recommend this property to friends and family.
Danke!
This cozy Garden House surrounded by beautiful gardens, sitting areas, and a fenced in yard, maked you feel like you are in your own piece of paradise. Right from the start of our booking process, Joy was helpful and responded right away to any questions we had. Upon arrival Joy was so helpful showing us maps and tour books especially seeing how it was our first visit to amsterdam. The supermarket only 4km away had an incredible selection of breads, cheese, meats, and anything else that you would need. The rented bikes were wonderful allowing us to explore the miles of bike paths which are right out your cottage door! The cottage was clean and everything you needed was right there. The lovely flowers made us feel like we had just arrived home! We enjoyed our days touring a very "busy" amsterdam so it was extremely refreshing at the end of the day to come home to such a peaceful relaxed spot. ....and only a short train ride and bike ride along the beautiful riverside, brought us to our piece of paradise! We so enjoyed our stay...wish it had been longer. We will be back and we will let others know of your beautiful Garden House ! Thank you for sharing your house with us!
The apartment was lovely and well maintained. Joy was not there when I arrived, but left me a note with very helpful tips, not the least of which was to ask the neighbour across the way, Ger, for help with the bicycles if needed. He was so nice and friendly and helped me find a bike to fit. Joy sent me directions to get to the apartment, but the best thing I did before leaving home was to do a Google street view from the bus stop and do a virtual walk to the house. I was able to recognize landmarks and to know that I was headed in the right direction. Joy returned before I left, so I was able to meet my gracious host. For the two days I was there, I stayed mostly in the area, walking across the locks nearby, and visiting the Muidercastle and a nic town called Naarden. It was a lovely way to be introduced to the area gradually while recovering from jet lag. Thank you, Joy and Ger!
Rural surroundings great area to bike, hike and sail in almost every season. A1 and A9 are the nearby highways. Charming villages and places nearby such as Weesp, Abcoude, Muiden, Muiderberg, Ankeveen, Naarden-Vesting, Bussum, Nederhorst den Berg and Loosdreccht. Easy access to several cities with the public transports: Amsterdam, Hilversum and Utrecht.
