About Lisa and Craig Keffeler
Starting years ago, we traveled the country and the world looking for the perfect place to call our forever home. We were looking for a quiet neighborhood within easy walking distance to a vibrant downtown; a welcoming community; world-class theater; an interesting foodie-scene; fabulous weather; easy access to outdoor activities and - most of all - nice people! We were only in Ashland for two days before we knew this was it. We moved here from the desert Southwest in 2009, and bought our circa 1905 home in Ashland's beautiful Historic District. After an extensive remodel of the main house, we decided it was time to share this amazing place with visitors, and built the guesthouse tucked behind our home. We can't wait to welcome you to Ashland! We are happy to show you around if you wish or let you discover Ashland's delights on your own.
Lisa and Craig Keffeler purchased this House in 2009
Why Lisa and Craig Keffeler chose Skidmore Academy Historic District
It's new, it's beautiful, and unlike many of Ashland's rental properties, it's chic WithOut the "shabby"! It's in a gorgeous historic neighborhood, just a short tree-lined walk from all the action. Most important, we care about our guests. We'll do whatever we can to make your stay fabulous.
What makes this House unique
Unlike many other "walkable" locations in Ashland, there are no steep hills or busy streets between this property and downtown Ashland. It truly is a pleasant, flat walk to town and the theaters. We even stroll home after the plays at 11 p.m. through the pleasant safe neighborhood.
Beautiful bright guesthouse! Great hosts! Lovely short stroll to downtown.
The hosts were so gracious - very welcoming, kind and helpful; available but not intrusive. The place was immaculately clean, and flowers and wine awaited us. Everything seemed new & fresh; the furnishings and linens were very high quality. We had the best nights sleep - the beds are great, it's super-quiet and there are black-out curtains. (But when they are open, the house is very light and bright. And there's nice filtered sun on the deck under a peach tree. ) The house as well-appointed with everything we needed. There was even cinnamon and chocolate for the coffee -- which we enjoyed on the very-private deck in our jammies! The house is in the perfect location - a really pleasant 10-minute walk to downtown, but away from any noise or traffic. The home is larger than it looks in the photos. It accommodates 3-4 people very nicely but obviously is not the place or the neighborhood for large gatherings - which is made clear in the VRBO house rules before you book. This is a great accommodation for a romantic getaway, a girlfriend-weekend or a small-family stay. We'll be back. Thanks SO much for the gracious hospitality!!
Fantastic! Great location, beautifully furnished. So pleased to find this gem!
Wonderful guesthouse. Clean, modern, well-appointed with hotel-like furnishings (luscious bedspreads, towels, linens, etc.). Easy access to downtown. Even though the weather was warm during our stay, my 82-year-old mother made and thoroughly enjoyed the flat shaded walk to the central plaza - through the beautiful serene neighborhood - in fifteen minutes. Hosts were very kind and helpful. They provided everything you could possibly need in the kitchen, as well as toiletries. This guesthouse was an excellent value. We will be back next season!
Comfortable and clean
Guesthouse was clean, quiet and comfortable, tho furnishings and linens could use an upgrade. They were well below the price point charged, and amenities were limited. Walk to center/OSF is a brisk 20 minutes, not as close as many other options. Host did provide a nice offering of fresh strawberries.
We are pleased that you enjoyed the guest house. And you are welcome for the organic strawberries picked fresh from from my garden!, and the chocolate. The linens and towels are replaced every season, and so are brand new. They are from the Luxury Hotel Collection, rated “best” buy hotel guests around the world. The walk to downtown is a 15- minute stroll, as you’ll see in the other reviews. Some guests say it actually takes less time. Perhaps you took an unusual route? There is a map in the guest house, for future reference, that shows the simple, short, pleasant stroll through this beautiful historic neighborhood.
Beautiful, clean, wonderfully comfortable and spacious.
Seemed brand new. Everything provided and the host was very gracious.
We're so glad you enjoyed the guesthouse! Yes, the home is newer. And we replace linens, pillows, etc. quite often. Plus, we pride ourselves on keeping the it spectacularly clean. It was a delight to meet you! I hope you'll come for a visit again soon.
Great spot close to town.
Super cute. Private. Walkable to town. Very nice.
Neat and modern in a great neighborhood
The Nursery Street Guesthouse is a nicely appointed one bedroom vacation rental. It's located in a charming neighborhood that makes for a pleasant walk to downtown and the Shakespeare Festival. The kitchen is adequate for simple meals or reheating take-out, but would provide a challenge for much cooking.
We're so pleased that you enjoyed the guesthouse and the lovely historic neighborhood! We agree - the tree-lined walk to downtown and OSF is beautiful and easy. The City of Ashland does not permit ovens in short term rentals so those of us who are licensed and legal do not have them. We're glad you were able to make meals nevertheless and hope you enjoyed the many restaurants within walking distance. We're looking forward to having you back!
