2015 is our tenth year listing our lake house. Our house is situated on a very quiet location on the back of Twitchell Pond - a smaller Maine pond (mid-size lake)that prohibits noisy watercraft and has a very shallow public boat launch. The house is a well kept cedar home with beautiful views on a dead-end road (only cottage traffic). Secluded swimming and sunbathing with Southwest facing deck and dock for afternoon and evening sunsets. We have a deep water dock for great swimming and diving. There are two quiet sandy beaches with shallow access for little kids nearby (walking distance). Our house has a heated outdoor shower (full bath/shower inside house too). A canoe, sailboat and kayaks are available on property. There are flower gardens and berry bushes surrounding the house and lot. This is peaceful paradise! Quiet walks, hikes and biking are just a few steps away. Local town, theater, golf and grocery, great brew-pub are 15 minutes away by car. 20 minutes to Ski area, zip lines, mountain biking, golf courses, guided fly fishing

Tammy and I are from Portsmouth, NH and both own our own businesses nearby. We built the lake house in 1995 for skiing and getting away from it all. It's been a great place for a reality check. We try to improve the property a little every year. Thank you looking at our property and if you stay, we hope you return again!
Scott Broughton purchased this house in 1996
Peaceful, relaxing and private area. All other creature comforts are nearby, but that's not why we come here. It's so quiet and night, it takes a few nights to get used to. Sitting by the fire pit at night making smores and looking up at stars is awesome and hanging out on the dock and deck is very relaxing. It's hard to leave this place.
Outdoor shower. Great roads and trails for running, Mt. biking. Garden and grounds, flowers around the house. Fly fishing on nearby rivers (guides available) and moose watching at night.
I brought my husband here as a surprise for his 40th birthday. His eyes POPPED when we drove up. The house is so gorgeous, smells like a cedar chest, and is so relaxing! We did a quick grocery run at the local store in Bethel (about 15 minutes away) but there was spices, coffee filters, olive oil, etc at the cabin. We enjoyed our coffees on the porch each morning and soaked in the sun in the afternoons. We ventured out a few times to eat. I would recommend pizza at "Home Slice Pizza" (VERY GOOD) and the gelato at "DiCocoa's" (If you are a vegetarian, get a little of everything to eat....no kidding. That's what I did!)
Scott sent instructions for a hiking trail off of the road, but we never ended up finding it (we bushwhacked most of the time. hahaha). We took the kayaks out another day and were the only ones on the lake. There was a full moon one night and sitting on the deck, listening to the loons, with the full moon shining...pure magic.
Although the point was to unplug and get away, my husband was able to watch the patriots game (although the remote didn't work, we figured it out through the tv)
We flew into the Bethel airport and spent a great week on Twitchell Pond swimming, kayaking, canoeing and fishing. The cottage was a great place to stay. Not only was the cottage clean and in perfect condition, we found the place to have all the right offerings for enjoying the lake to cooking fun dinners in the kitchen. The owners were wonderful to work with...professional, responsive and kind. The location of the cottage was excellent for grabbing coffee or a dinner in Bethel, as well as being close to great hikes in Grafton's Notch and the surrounding area. Thumbs up!
We just returned from an absolutely wonderful two weeks on Twitchell Pond with various family members and fun with other friends who have houses on Twitchell. The house is so comfortable and welcoming. The gorgeous pumpkin pine wide floorboards are charming. Also enjoyed the outdoor shower each time, which complements the one bath inside. The dock is very accessible, water beautifully clear and clean, and it is well over your head off the front of the dock for easy diving and jumping. The beds are very comfortable and we loved waking up to the view of the pond. Bonus: picking the blueberries! Hiked to top of cliff, took the yellow loop trail from Maggie's Park, kayaked, and canoed. Went to full moon delicious dinner at North Peak at Sunday River. Would love to return next summer!
This cottage is great! It is very comfortable, has bags of character and is well presented. Its location on Twitchell Pond is beautiful and very peaceful. The pictures and description simply don't do it justice. The property is clean and very well maintained and has all the facilities one needs.
If you like the great outdoors this is the place to be. The close proximity to Mt Abrams and Sunday River ski resorts is ideal for skiers and boarders alike. Also the nearby state parks and national forest is a joy for any nature lover. The town of Bethel is a pleasant place to hang out, with a number of shops and great places to eat.
Scott is a fantastic host. He is very welcoming, helpful and answers questions or concerns promptly. A bottle of red wine, our welcome gift, was a very nice touch.
Would recommend this place to anyone!
Looking forward going back in summer some time soon.
We had a wonderful time at this lakefront cottage. It was a perfect getaway for us, very peaceful and relaxing. The cottage is well equipped and very comfortable. The setting is idyllic. The hosts we're extremely helpful and accommodating. We spent long afternoons reading on the dock, swimming or kayaking around the lake. I highly recommend this place.
My wife and I just returned from our second stay at this gorgeous home. Perfectly situated on the water with amazing privacy, we spent a week filled with swimming, cooking, kayaking, hiking, biking, and exploring. Couldn't recommend a better summer get away spot for a couple or two.
Skiing, Minutes to the slopes of Mt, Abram (can see the back side from lake view) and 15 minutes to Sunday River Ski Area
