Water front home on beautiful canal. Located just nine miles up the beach from the end of Route 12 and accessible only by 4WD or AWD. SUV. The Northern Beaches of North Carolina seem to have been set aside for those vacationers looking for a good old fashioned vacation. Our home is located on a secluded canal-front lot about 1000 feet from the beach.
Our home offers a unique choice, to play in the canal, which has direct sound access or to go to the beach and feel the warm sand between your toes. While on the beach you can watch the Dolphins gliding through the ocean or watch the Pelicans overhead. However, our favorite visitors are the Spanish Mustangs that visit from time to time. This herd of horses roam freely on the Northern beaches and are truly a joy to watch. Our home has wonderful ocean views from the upper deck so after a long day of play, you can relax in the 7 person hot tub on the upper deck and watch the sunsets over the sound.
On the days when you are beached or sounded out, just a short drive to the North, you can visit False Cape State Park and take a nature hike. To the South, climb the Corolla Lighthouse. You're in for a treat when you finally reach the top. The Whalehead Club is a fun tour and has a great outdoor park with great views of Currituck Sound. Tim Buck II is a neat shopping and dining experience. Our favorite restaurants in Corolla are North Banks, The Grille Room and the Route 12 Restaurant. Further South is the Village of Duck. This is another fun place to roam and shop. Restaurant recommendations in Duck are the Red Sky Cafe and the Roadside.
The Wright Brothers Memorial is a must see and maybe take in your first flight. Visit Jockeys Ridge, climb the dunes and maybe learn to hang glide. About 60 miles to the south is Cape Hatteras, a scenic drive worth taking. In Manteo, visit the beautiful Elizabethan Gardens, and if you go, stay and see The Lost Colony an outdoor live theater experience. A visit to our home will have you coming back year after year.

My wife and I purchased our land in 1983, and had the house built in 2006. Back when we purchased our land, There was a guard house at the county line, and you had to know some one, have some type of real estate or rent from some one up there in order to get past the guard. I always like the mountains and my wife loves the beach, and this was the best of both worlds! There were buffalo roaming the area from a farm nearby and loved the horses and the other wild life in the area.
We just got home and wanted to let you know that we loved your home and had a great time! Everything was lovely and so nice and new. We took care to keep it that way and leave it that way. Tha kids want to go back next year so we'd like to be in touch about that. My compliments to the chef on the kitchen. I love to cook and was pleased to find good quality cookware, not a thing missing, and decent sized bowls for once! I could've spent the whole month there easily. What a great place you have!
This was one of the best beach homes we have stayed. The views were fantastic and the owners were wonderful and accommodating. We loved this place and hope to visit again some day!!!
As a first time beach house renter, I scoured the internet for the perfect house in Carova for our family and friends. I figured there had to be a drawback to such a cool house at such a reasonable rental rate. There were none! (please don't raise the rates though) Our family is in the lumber business so there were many comments about how well the house was built. All the windows, trim and sliding doors are of well above rental quality. I hate a poorly functioning sliding door! I figure the owners are planning to kick out us renters one day and live in this beautiful location. The porches (wide and well stocked with chairs) were my favorite spot at the house. The swing and hammock on the shady second floor deck were perfect for afternoon reading or napping. The hot tub had a great view for star gazing. The breeze off the beach was always there to keep things cool, even in August. The beds were all comfy, washing the sheets that were there for us to use was not a big deal. The washer and dryer were both very efficient. The great room was super for meals. games and lounging. There were 8 of us there and we had too much space. It was great to have all of us able to sit at one table for supper. This house had all the cool extras that you usually only see in houses that are in the higher rent district! Kitchen was great. Like others have commented, there is every utensil that you could ever need there. We cooked every night and never left the whole week and were never once bored! The boats were a definite plus! We had a blast canoeing around the waterways. All the beach stuff in the closet makes this house perfect for folks that don't want to have to bring all that stuff with them. There is lots more toys and chairs there now than is in the rental picture. The outdoor shower was very nice, big and clean. The dogs loved this house too. They were good boys and stayed off the furniture and beds and really liked the baby gate that we used on the deck stairs so they could watch the horses in the yard w/o being tempted to chase them! A group of 5 horses visited us almost every day. Under house parking was good to keep trucks cool and to allow jeep to go naked all week. Best of all is the beautiful beach at this end of Carova!!! The sunrise and night sky here are nothing short of spectacular because of the lack of commercialization. The fire station is very close to get ice all week too. We loved this house and location and will be back! ps. owners were great too!
We rented this house for a family of 4 with two toddlers and two sets of grandparents. Everyone had a great time. Everything we needed for cooking, relaxing and playing could be found. We walked to the beach daily, and relaxed on the many porches with coffee every morning. We were visited often by the horses and a couple deer. We wouldn't hesitate to go back.
My friends and I absolutely LOVED this property. It was very spacious on the inside; rooms are large and the main floor was very open and grand. Amenities were fun -- the hot tub was our favorite, as it was a great way to wrap up long days at the beach. The owners were always available to answer any questions and were very kind to rent the property out to us at such short notice. Access to the beach was very close and convenient; we were able to leave this house and be parked on the sand in a little over a minute and easily drive back to the house throughout the day because of this. I would totally stay at this property again!! It was perfect!
We loved our stay at your house. It was very nice and roomy, clean and very well stocked with kitchen utensils, bowls, pots, and spices. I also loved that we didn't have to carry sheets for all the beds..those are provided! We have never stayed anywhere like this and the drive on the beach was so much fun and just different from other beach trips. We loved seeing the wild horses just roaming around and even see a baby colt :) We also seen a couple of deer. If you want to try something different for your vacation, Carova Beach would definitely be it! We love the swing and hammock on the decks and also all the chairs around the decks. Plenty of places to sit and relax inside and out! We took one whole day and went all the way to Hatterass and stopped to see the lighthouses along the way. We even climbed the Cape Hatterass lighthouse! Very beautiful!!We were here the first week in August which we were told is very busy and it did take us like 3 hrs to get from our beach house to Hatterass so take that into consideration when making your plans. Thanks again for having us at your beach house! We will definitely recommend it to people!!
Our family of 13 adults ages 18 to 50 stayed in this home in June. We've stayed in many different beach vacation homes and locations. This was by far our favorite. Brian and Susan's home was beautiful, well taken care of and by far the best stocked home (from dishes, cookware and serving ware to spices and condiments) we've vacationed in. I have no complaints whatsoever about our stay. The drive on beach was very private and not at all crowded. The Mustang sightings were beautiful! I would highly recommend this home to anyone that is seeking a quiet, relaxing, non-commercialized vacation. Brian and Susan went above and beyond to make this our home away from home and we greatly appreciate it. Just a little tip. . . Be sure to read and follow the beach driving tips that Brian and Susan send you. We read, but did not follow the tips and had quite an adventure arriving to the house our first night :) All was good after our arrival, but if this is your first beach driving experience follow their tips and it will be trouble free.
