There are several well-loved brand stores in Fowey (Sea Salt, Joules, Fat Face, and Mountain Warehouse) but its real charm lies with the wide range of boutique, unique and independent shops. Spend hours browsing them for clothes, homewares, crafts, glassware, art, antiques, books, seaside knick-knacks, traditional children toys and don't forget the old fashioned sweet shop!
There are also several bakeries and the fabulous Kittows deli. With two local stores, there may be no supermarket in Fowey, but you'll still find everything you need here. And all the major supermarkets will deliver online shopping as well.
THINGS TO SEE & DO
In the centre of Fowey there is also a sweet little aquarium, and a local museum – both are worth a peek! Fowey has a 14th church and a 15th century castle fort.
There are a variety of activities on the water, ranging from organised boat trips to canoe hire.
The closest permanent is Ready Money Cove, which has clean sands and is perfect for swimming.
There is also a tidal sea-pool hidden away at the Whitehouse Pier! Within a five-ten-minute drive, you can be at Polkerris beach and Par Sands, and within a half hour drive there is Carlyon Bay, Charlestown, Porthpean, Pentewan and Mevagissey.
There are many thousands of miles of fantastic walks in Cornwall. The South West Coastal Path alone winds 630 miles around the county, and The Saints Way is 27 miles from Fowey on the south coast, right across to Padstow on the north coast. The Fowey Hall Walk is much more manageable at 4 miles! Whether you enjoy the sea, woods, rivers, moors or fields, you will not be disappointed with the walks in Cornwall.
