Quiet apartment sleeping up to 4 adults, 2 patios for outside dining and garden
A quiet, modern ground floor apartment in a rural location with patios and use of an enclosed garden, on the edge of the beautiful Parco Della Maremma regional nature reserve on this unspoilt part of the Tuscan coast of Italy.
The property consists of a double bedroom, shower room and lounge-kitchen with a double sofa bed. Patio areas at the front and back of the apartment allow plenty of opportunity for outdoor living, barbecues and the excellent locally produced Morellino di Scansano red or Vermentino white wines. There is off-road parking for one car and a washing machine.
The unspoilt, 5Km (3 mile) long sandy beach at Marina di Alberese is a short drive or shuttle bus ride away (frequent shuttle buses from Rispescia or Alberese throughout the summer months). Alternatively bicycles can be rented from Alberese to cycle through the fields and woods to the beach. The beach, due to its length, offers possibilities for relaxation, swimming, and beachcombing through the driftwood and seashells.
The village of Rispescia is a short walk away and has a supermarket, other shops and a number of restaurants and pizzeria, including the renowned “Da Remo” which is famous throughout Tuscany for its fish dishes.
Additionally the village holds its annual wild boar festival on the weekends of July.
The park is a noted nature reserve, with deer, boar, foxes and other wild animals in abundance. The mouth of the Ombrone river at the end of Alberese beach is also famous as a stopping point for bird migrations, in addition to other species such as ospreys and the area is a well known centre for bird watching. The park can be accessed, with either guided or unguided walking excursions for all levels of ability, from the visitor centre in the village of Alberese. Horse riding excursions through the park can also be booked from Alberese.
Other local attractions include the Argentario peninsula, from which it is possible to catch ferries to the islands of the Tuscan Archipelago and the picturesque fishing village of Talamone.
The walled medieval centre of Grosseto, the largest town in the Maremma area, is a 15-minute drive away. It has a beautiful 13th-15th century cathedral, largely intact city wall built by Francesco de Medici, a large number of beautiful churches and buildings in addition to many excellent restaurants and bars. In addition Grosseto station offers fast trains to Rome, Livorno, Pisa or Genoa in addition to more local services.
The beautiful city of Siena is just over an hour by car and Florence just over two hours by car, or alternatively can be reached by train from Grosseto. In the nearby hills there are a number of beautiful towns and villages that can be explored as day-trips by car, such as Pitigliano, Sorano and the hot springs of Saturnia.
This property provides a perfect, quiet location from which to explore this largely undiscovered part of Tuscany, with easy access to the better-known sights and tastes of this beautiful region.

About Chiara Ghiron
Chiara and Russ live just outside Siena and have owned the apartment since 2010. Chiara is originally from Genoa in Northern Italy and runs a yoga studio in Siena called the Yogi Cat www.theyogicat.com Russ is originally from Swansea in Wales, but has lived in Italy, off and on, for 18 years and works in the field of biomedical research.
Chiara Ghiron purchased this Apartment in 2010
Why Chiara Ghiron chose Grosseto
Before buying the apartment we regularly visited the area for the stunningly beautiful unspoilt beach at Marina di Alberese. When we saw the property we loved the open spaces offered by the garden and the quiet location. We were also very pleasantly surprised to realise that the apartment was almost opposite Remo's one of the best fish restaurants in the area, and it's within easy reach of a fantastic new restaurant called Frank & Serafico, mid-way between the property and Alberese beach as well as a number of other restaurants in Rispescia and Alberese.
What makes this Apartment unique
This modern property offers the peace and quiet of a rural location, the open space of a garden, directly accessible from the bedroom and living room, and the restaurants and shops of Rispescia village within walking distance.

Good place to explore the natural park of Maremma
We had a very nice week at Chiaras apartement in Rispescia. The apartement is very well kept and very clean. The equipment is complete. The apartement is very comfortable for 2 persons. The apartement has a big garden surrounding it on three sides and two terraces with furniture. The owners (Chiara and Russel) are very kind and helpful.
The house is located near the road to the beach and there is also a nice bicycle tour to the beach (15 km, Russel was very kind and showed us the way on our arrival). The beach is very beautiful and not crowded. There is plenty of room for everybody.
We also recommend to visit the historical centre of Grosseto, Talamone and Monte Argentario.
Dear Doris and Klaus-Georg
We're very happy that you enjoyed your stay in Rispescia, it was a pleasure to have you as guests. We completely agree with your suggestions for visits to Talamone etc. There are many lovely places in the area!
Hope to see you again some time.

We arrived at our accommodation after a long drive along the coast to find a well equipped holiday home. The English/Italian owners made us feel welcome and provided us with details on the area. We made full use of the outdoor living spending lots of time in the garden and eating outside as much as possible. We drove to the nearby secluded, almost private beach through a forest at the Natural Park of Maremma. The beach is just as the photographs show; a wonderful sandy beach; there were even manmade driftwood shelters. So we selected an empty shelter to occupy for the day and called it our ‘home by the sea’. Then as the day wore on we collected some wood and made a few alterations to our home. What a gem. We drove to the beach on our first trip but found limited parking, so we took the bus the next two trips. If we had our bicycles with us then we would have cycled on the cycle-ways through the forest.
One evening we walked to the nearby restaurant in the hope of being able to get a table. Luck was on our side, there had just been a cancellation, so we were able to eat; reservations a must. Wow, the fish was superb; no wonder the restaurant is so popular with Italians driving many miles just to get to eat. What a find, what a gem!
The holiday let is well situated for day trips to many places in Tuscany. The nearby local railway station has connections to Grosseto with onward connections to Rome and Pisa.
We had a very enjoyable week staying in a wonderful holiday home.
The other Tuscany
A few words about this very well presented holiday home in a lovely but less well-known part of Tuscany. First of all, the practical things. The house is located in the Maremma area near Grossetto and is close to the Parco dell'Uccellino nature reserve. It is very easy to find once you get to Rispescia. The house is well-furnished and equipped with everything that you need for a self-catering holiday. The owners are great and offer a lot of help and information about the local area. They speak English and Italian and maybe some Welsh. The house is surrounded by fields and countryside. The nature reserve is lovely and has a beautiful beach but the parking is restricted and the best way to go there is to take the bus (bus stop at the end of the slip road). This isn't a problem since buses go back and forth regularly between Rispescia-Alberese and the beach throughout the day.
Rispescia and Alberese are quiet places although at certain times in the summer there are local sagre (village fetes) dedicated to the local food and wine eg excellent wild boar and morellino. You can buy the famous chianina beef from nearby farms and there is a fresh fruit and vegetable stall at the end of the road near the house.
The nearby historic centre of Grossetto is worth a visit and the house is well situated for day trips a little further afield to places such as Saturnia (hot springs) and theTuscania area on the border between Tuscany and Lazio. Tarquinia with its Etruscan necropolis, the national museum and the lovely countryside is another place that is easy to reach.Thirty minutes south of Rispesica along the coast there is the quaint seaside town of Talamone with its views over Orbitello and Monte Argentario (it is also an important place for kite-surfing).
All in all, a very enjoyable stay, great people, lovely house, lots to see.
Hi Niki, Susanna, Nora & Sofie

We hope to see you again soon!
