The property consists of a double bedroom, shower room and lounge-kitchen with a double sofa bed. Patio areas at the front and back of the apartment allow plenty of opportunity for outdoor living, barbecues and the excellent locally produced Morellino di Scansano red or Vermentino white wines. There is off-road parking for one car and a washing machine.
The unspoilt, 5Km (3 mile) long sandy beach at Marina di Alberese is a short drive or shuttle bus ride away (frequent shuttle buses from Rispescia or Alberese throughout the summer months). Alternatively bicycles can be rented from Alberese to cycle through the fields and woods to the beach. The beach, due to its length, offers possibilities for relaxation, swimming, and beachcombing through the driftwood and seashells.
The village of Rispescia is a short walk away and has a supermarket, other shops and a number of restaurants and pizzeria, including the renowned “Da Remo” which is famous throughout Tuscany for its fish dishes.
Additionally the village holds its annual wild boar festival on the weekends of July.
The park is a noted nature reserve, with deer, boar, foxes and other wild animals in abundance. The mouth of the Ombrone river at the end of Alberese beach is also famous as a stopping point for bird migrations, in addition to other species such as ospreys and the area is a well known centre for bird watching. The park can be accessed, with either guided or unguided walking excursions for all levels of ability, from the visitor centre in the village of Alberese. Horse riding excursions through the park can also be booked from Alberese.
Other local attractions include the Argentario peninsula, from which it is possible to catch ferries to the islands of the Tuscan Archipelago and the picturesque fishing village of Talamone.
The walled medieval centre of Grosseto, the largest town in the Maremma area, is a 15-minute drive away. It has a beautiful 13th-15th century cathedral, largely intact city wall built by Francesco de Medici, a large number of beautiful churches and buildings in addition to many excellent restaurants and bars. In addition Grosseto station offers fast trains to Rome, Livorno, Pisa or Genoa in addition to more local services.
The beautiful city of Siena is just over an hour by car and Florence just over two hours by car, or alternatively can be reached by train from Grosseto. In the nearby hills there are a number of beautiful towns and villages that can be explored as day-trips by car, such as Pitigliano, Sorano and the hot springs of Saturnia.
This property provides a perfect, quiet location from which to explore this largely undiscovered part of Tuscany, with easy access to the better-known sights and tastes of this beautiful region.
