Casa Carolina is located on a quite lane and up a steep slope, approximately 1km from the historic village centre. It has 8700 M2 of private grounds of which 1000 M2 is lawn or garden. A partially covered terrace overlooks the garden.

The main house has a living room with a fireplace and a twin and a double bedroom. The adjacent studio flat has a separate entrance and a separate bedroom. The double bedroom has an en-suite shower and WC and there is also a separate shower with WC. There is a small but well equipped kitchen which leads on to a separate dining room. A separate studio flat has a kitchen dining area, a twin bedroom and a shower with WC.

There is a general store and two restaurants within 500 m. The village can be reached on foot but a car is advisable to access shopping and amenities. The surrounding countryside offers walking, cycling and sight seeing. The port of Palamos (7km) offers a variety of dining, aquatic sports and the fisheries museum.

Key Holder and Management: The reception of guests and management of the property during your stay is carried out by a professional agency who will do their best to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Staff at the agency are able to attend to guests in Catalan, Spanish, French, English, German and Russian. A gardener will attend to the property at regular interval as necessary , whilst respecting your privacy. About Paul Gans

Casa Carolina was purchased by my parents in 1964, as a simple 2 bedroom cottage in the midst of agricultural land. Carolina was the name of my grandmother and chosen by my father in memory of his parents. Around 1982 my parents made the house their permanent home after substantial improvements and the addition of a studio apartment for guests. My brother made his home in the village of Calonge soon after.

My partner and I inherited the property in 1999 and feel that our links to the house and the village make it more than just a holiday destination. Its location, separate from any housing estate and with substantial areas of unbuilt land immediately adjacent give it a special quality. The village, with its historic roots, has lots of character.

Casa Carolina is located outside of the built-up area and housing developments, surrounded by fields but at close proximity to the historic village centre (1km). The valley of Calonge is of outstanding beauty with agricultural scenery and vineyards, surrounded by the forests of the Gavarres mountain range. The nearest beach is at 4 km and there are breathtaking beauty spots along the coast. Nearby Palamos has a range of quality restaurants, shops and transport infrastructure. The picturesque fishing port offers sightseeing, aquatic sports and its famous fisheries museum. Further afield there are medieval villages, sites associated with Salvador Dali and the Botanic Gardens at Cap Roig to explore.

Ruim, ietwat verouderd huis met mooie grote, groene tuin, weg van de drukte.

Algemeen : verwacht geen nieuw modern huis. Het huis is wel ruim en alle basics zijn aanwezig maar renovatiewerken en een groot onderhoud zouden welkom zijn.

Pluspunten : zeer mooie, grote, groene tuin - huis ligt dicht bij strand (5-tal km) - Wifi in huis en ook op strand - veel supermarkten dichtbij (Spar, Aldi, Suma, Lidl, Dia, ... - zeer correcte (internet) contacten en afhandeling van het huurcontract zowel voor (inlichtingen) als na de huur (terugstorten waarborg) door eigenaar - sleuteladres huis dichtbij (op 3km.)

Minpuntjes tijdens ons verblijf : mooie tuin maar voor kinderen minder geschikt om te spelen door grote hellingsgraad - geen ligstoelen - wel gewone tuinstoelen maar van ijzer (dus zééér heet) en geen tuinkussens - wel overdekt terras maar tijdens warmste uren van de dag ligt slechts 1/4 van de terras in de schaduw - véééél kleine miertjes, ook binnenshuis - last van aziatische tijgermuggen (enkel bij zonsondergang) - tijdens ons verblijf soms enige last van rioolgeur (eigenaar heeft dit waarschijnlijk intussen al laten oplossen) - autoparkeerplaats niet overdekt - goed tweepersoons bed maar beetje smal (1,4m breed).

Onze conclusie : een ruim ietwat verouderd huis met mooie grote, groene tuin, weg van de drukte maar met een beetje werk aan. Alhoewel alle basics aanwezig zijn, is dit huis meer geschikt voor mensen die niet het grootste comfort of luxe wensen tijdens hun vakantie.

We verbleven in het huis met 2 kinderen 15 en 17j voor 3 weken in augustus 2015.

Owner's Response: De kwestie van de rioolgeur inderdaad is onmiddelijk onderzocht nadat U dit gesignaleerd had. Onze agenten doen hun uiterste best om dergelijke klachten op te lossen. Ik ben het met U eens dat een stel ligstoelen een goede investering zouden zijn voor volgend jaar. Wij voeren ieder jaar een aantal renovatie werkzaamheden uit en de suggesties die U mij nog apart heeft laten toekomen zullen ons helpen de prioriteiten voor het volgend jaar vast te stellen.

Au calme et proche de la mer

Nous sommes 5 adultes à avoir passé 1 semaine début septembre dans cette jolie maison. Elle est sur les hauteurs au calme avec un grand terrain. Tout était propre et le jardin venait d'être fait. Il y a des chemins de randonnée tout proche, et nous sommes à 5 minutes en voiture de la plage. En plus de la maison, il y a un studio complet avec chambre/cuisine/sdB. Calonge est un petit village avec tout les commerces nécessaires. Le Spar est à 10 minutes à pied. Vraiment une très belle location, bien située. Je recommende vivement.

Vacances au calme à la Casa CarolinaDonc, en

Excellente semaine dans la maison Carolina. Le jardin est très reposant et l'on se croirait à l'extérieur de tout alors que l'on est très près des plages. La région est splendide et nous avons fait de belles promenades sur les chemins de ronde.

Le propriétaire, qui est en Angleterre, a répondu rapidement en français à mes mails et a même envoyé un contrat en français.

Donc, entière satisfaction et bon rapport qualité/prix.

A late spring holiday at Casa Carolina

This was our first visit to Casa Carolina. Our stay was for two weeks.

We loved the house, it had all the amenities you could possibly need for your stay.

The living room is spacious and we felt very much at home.

The garden surrounds the house on three sides, with plenty of trees and wide lawns.

We were delighted to spot a Golden Oriole in one of the nearby trees.

Although the house is in a quiet location, the local supermarket is just down the road and Calonge village a short walk away.

The owner's agent lives up the road; you can see his house from Casa Carolina; he's very friendly and helpful.

We hired a car and drove to Palamos, Barcelona and local beaches. There are attractive coastal paths between unspoilt coves.

The villa is well situated for visits to Dali country: to Figueres, Pubol and the medieval village of Pals.

Highly recommended! We enjoyed our stay immensely and we hope to visit again.

A lovely week in Calonge

Me and three other persons stayed a week in this house. The house is well equipped, the garden is beautiful and the surroundings are grandiose. The key-holder lives only 150 m away. He speaks English and his service is excellent. It is close to a daily shopping store.

The reason of a travel to Catalonia was to celebrate my wife's birthday. The owner and the key-holder helped me to arrange a welcome surprise for my wife; Cava and flowers.

During the days we went on walking-tours close the coast and in the forests. In the neighborhood there are several old villages worth a visit. The views from the car-roads are terrific.The beaches in Costa Brava are only 4 km away.

I can highly recommend this villa.
