Istria Gourmet: Gastronomic or culinary tourism is at the heart of the vision for Istrian tourism. It is the most fully developed tourist product largely because it is a natural extension of Istrian hospitality. With its numerous facets, gourmet tourism unifies a broad spectrum of projects from agritourism to ‘Wine Roads’, ‘Open Cellars’ Day, ‘Truffle Days’, bicycle tours and many other components of Istrian tourism.
The interior of Istria reveals a great number of authentic inns, or konobas, and wine cellars where each meal acquires an added dimension. The preparation method, ambiance and delightful hospitality make every meal an exceptional gourmet experience. The selection of dishes is based on meat and pasta, such as: peka, meal prepared under a baking lid; ombolo, boneless pork loin; kapuz, sausages with sauerkraut; fuži,pasta; or gnocchi in a sauce locally known as šugo (made from game,farm-raised chicken or truffles).
Very happy holiday in Croatia!! Two families with 2 teenagers, plenty of room, well stocked kitchen, FAB pool, Great bathrooms, bedding changed and fresh towels midweek..what more could we ask for?!!
The only suggestion we have is for the option of a welcome food pack (bread, milk, butter cheese etc) as we arrived very late and no food Available....though to be fair we could have asked for this from the very friendly helpful rep and it would've been provided I'm sure!!
We loved our holiday and particularly appreciated the flexible nature of the booking as we were able to stay later on last day (late flight) no request seemed to be too much trouble!!! Lovely area....heartily recommend Istralandia water park, amphitheatre at Pula, Buje and Umag.....
We will DEFO be looking another holiday in 2015!! Thank you very much!!
My family (2 adults + 1 kid) and our friends (a family with 2 adults and 2 kids) we had spectacular vacations here in Momjan. The village is a really nice one, the house and most of all the pool is fabulous!!! This will be not the last time, we were in Momjan in your house! I promise you!
The week that my friends and I spent in Istria was the standout event of the year. The villa we staying in on the outskirts of the historic village of Momjan was nothing short of luxury, and provided the perfect jumping off point for excursions to the region
In the immediate vicinity of Buje, in the north-western, continental part of Istria's peninsula, at Sveti Mauro Mountain, lies the small town of Momjan from where you will have a great view to the west all the way to the sea, to Istria's western coast and to Ucka Mountain. Momjan was first mentioned in 1035 and has several churches and chapels with numerous sculptures, paintings and impressive church furniture.
This romantic place writes its own history through many documents, buildings and stories, but also through its oenological peculiarities because of which it is importantly marked on the map of wine connoisseurs.
Because of the location and micro-climate, the local vineyards and famous winegrowers produce well-known liquid gold of a luxurious taste and smell. It was in this area that the first taverns were built, which still offer a wealth of flavours and fragrances, created artfully with love in their taverns, restaurants and agritourisms.
