About the property

The Lodge - 10% discount on all bookings in February 2014!

The Lodge at Milestone Cottage is a beautifully presented holiday cottage set in the heart of the West Sussex countryside. The barn style build and interior has been crafted by the owner and makes for a truly individual style, mixing traditional carpentry with modern convenience.

The accommodation is all on one floor. There is an open plan living area which incorporates the kitchen, dining area and sitting area. The kitchen is well equipped and includes a dishwasher, microwave and oven with gas hob. There is a cosy double bedroom with a fitted wardrobe and chest of drawers. The second bedroom has 2 single beds and also has a fitted wardrobe. There is a high quality shower room with a walk-in shower. Wi-Fi internet access is also available in the cottage.

Outside, there is a courtyard style private garden to the rear of The Lodge. Guests also have access to the gardens of Milestone Cottage and there is ample parking. There is also a laundry room with washing machine, sink and clothes line. This is shared with the sister cottage to The Lodge, a beautiful and quirky studio style barn conversion with comfortably sleeps 2 guests, but does have a third bed on a mezzanine level.

(Travel cot and high chair available upon request)

Guestbook comments from the manager

My family and I stayed at the lodge this summer for around 12 days to see relatives and attend to a wedding.

The lodge is extremely comfortable, private, well equipped and nicely located.

It has a washing machine, and all the usual items needed to stay. There is a pub within walking distance! I enjoyed a walk with my daughter around the farm land behind the lodge. She enjoyed the tree house, gardens, swans, rabbits etc that are on the property.

We had guests come and visit several times, and the lodge was perfect for these get-togethers.

The owners were very accommodating and helpful.

The Billingshurst train station is about 1.5 miles or so away. We took the train to London several times. It leaves every half hour.

Overall, the lodge is well located to visit the north, or the south, and is not very far from Gatwick.

I will visit in the future.

Milestone Cottage is situated in a wonderful location, easily accessible to the nearby town of Billingshurst (only 1 1/2 miles away) and Horsham which lies a few miles to the north of Billingshurst. They both have mainline stations to London (Victoria), and there are good road links to Gatwick airport. There is a lot to do in the area and if you have children interested in animals, then the well known attraction of Fisher's Farm, which is situated within walking distance, will undoubtedly appeal. The farm has a variety of different animals as well as lots of activities. Also within a very short walk is The Bat & Ball public house which serves good food all year round.

Other attractions include Arundel Castle, which lies in the beautiful town of Arundel, only about 11 miles away. Arundel boasts a selection of eclectic shops and restaurants, and attracts tourists from all over the world. The River Arun runs through it, and Arundel also has an annual festival, as well as a Wildfowl and Wetland Centre.. Horsham has a good shopping centre, and the Cathedral city of Chichester is about 40 minutes' drive. Along with the beautiful shopping centre and cathedral, it also has the Festival Theatre, at which many international stars perform year on year. The coast is less than an hours' drive and boasts some of the best beaches in Southern England. There is excellent sailing at several villages, including Bosham and Itchenor which lie just outside Chichester. Brighton is about 45 minutes' drive, where you can stroll around the famous "Lanes" or take a walk along the promenade and visit some of the excellent restaurants and shops.

Parham House and Gardens is a beautiful, tranquil place to visit and lies just outside Storrington. Both Leonardslee Lakes and Gardens and Nymans Gardens are within easy driving distance, lying to the south - east of Horsham, making for a wonderful day out. Goodwood House is a popular attraction and the horse racing there and at Fontwell are two of the highlights of the summer. The Goodwood Festival of Speed and Revival Meeting have become traditional events, synonymous with the history of Goodwood itself.
