About the property

Suitable for groups, friends, two smaller families or larger/extended families - this historic former bank manager’s residence is recently refurbished to conservation standards. We offer a substantial, stone-built, timber-beamed Grade 2 listed house dating back to 1782 (and possibly older) - featuring 3 generous bedrooms and an off-street parking space.

The house incorporates a spectacular oak-finished attic master bedroom with walk-in wardrobe. Other beautiful features include a historic wood-panelled lounge with shuttered sash windows and grand piano. Keen cooks will enjoy the newly fitted oak kitchen incorporating a Smeg 6 ring dual-oven range cooker and eating area. The downstairs area is completed by a utility area and wet-room shower / WC.

The upstairs has been fully redecorated incorporating with period themes and furnishings and includes solid oak timbers, some original historic panelling, traditional lime plaster ceilings and mouldings.

A private garden is mainly grass with a patio seating/eating area.

Amongst our period furnishings is a John Broadwood and Sons Grand Piano which you are welcome to play. More modern entertainment includes 2 TVs with DVD players and a DAB Radio/CD player.

We also organise monthly weekends for those wishing to improve their English conversation and enjoy the Cotswolds. These are arranged in conjunction with ES4J (English School for Japanese).

There are two flexible large rooms (lounge and loft bedroom) which may be of interest for larger groups seeking an activity space. Stairs to first floor are quite steep, so less mobile people may find challenging. Amongst our period furnishings is a John Broadwood and Sons 1904 Grand Piano which you are welcome to play. Smoking acceptable in our garden's patio area.

Booking and pre trip communication was very prompt and helpful. The house is spacious and ideal for large groups. The downstairs shower is nice and powerful. The kitchen is well equipped.

Great character property in lovely location

We had a lovely family weekend whilst attending a wedding nearby in the Old Bank Managers house - the house has real character and is really well appointed for a holiday rental.

Lovely house in a great location

We were a group of ten adults - the house was large enough for us all to be comfortable. Ten seats around the dining table and plenty of sofas in the lounge (not to mention the piano, which was great!). There were an ample amount of bath/shower rooms as well.

We really enjoyed our stay here, everyone we met was so friendly and accommodating. The Royal Oak pub opposite the house were lovely and let us park a couple of our cars there over the weekend. Chris was also great, good communication and accommodated our request to vacate a little later on the Sunday. We would definitely recommend to anyone looking to stay in the Cotswolds. My only regret is that we didn't stay for long enough!

Nice cottage in great location

Stayed for two nights; found the cottage very nicely presented and surprisingly roomy and spacious. Being able to use the essentials like salt / oil / washing up liquid was really helpful.

Lovely character house

We had a lovely weekend in Wotton under Edge in the Old Bank House. Comfortable and spacious for our party of three adults and four children it was ideal for a reunion of school friends (plus their offspring). Would definitely recommend.

Magnifique endroit

Très jolie maison de campagne, avec de beaux espaces communs.

Une grande cuisine équipée, un beau salon avec un piano à queue de 1905, des chambres avec de grands lits et 3 salles de bains. Quelques petits inconvénients liés au fait que ce soit une vieille maison : on ne peut pas tous se doucher en même temps.

La maison est située dans un village très agréable avec toutes les commodités nécessaires.

For those who are unfamiliar with Wotton-Under-Edge, it is a charming historic wool town on the western edge of the Cotswolds within walking distance of magnificent views over the Severn Valley to the Forest of Dean and Malvern Hills. Walkers will enjoy access to the Cotswolds Way with fantastic views from the Edge and many pleasant nearby locations. As a small town, it is unusually well provided for with 2 supermarkets and local shoping (including delis, bakeries, take-aways...) . Aside from the charms of the Cotswolds, it is within easy reach of Bath, Bristol, Gloucester, Cheltenham and Cirencester. More locally, Westonbirt Arboretum and Berkeley provide a pleasant day out and nearby towns and villages of Tetbury, Stroud, Nailsworth and Painswick are well worth a visit.
