SCIA 11662 del 29/11/2011
Castore and Polluce apartments are located on the 3rd floor of an historical 16th century building in the heart of Rome and are within walking distance to all major tourist attractions and shopping areas.
The apartments have been beautifully renovated to offer the utmost comfort whilst retaining their original charm.
Each apartment has a double bedroom with wardrobe and 19' flatscreen TV, living room with double sofa bed, fireplace, dining table and 32' Tv with SKY. Balcony for outside dining. Fully equipped kitchen. Bathroom with bathtub and shower, heated towel rails and hairdryer: Heating, air conditioning, Wi-Fi and safety deposit box.
The apartments are located 200 meters from Pantheon and Piazza Venezia. The most important cultural sites in the city are easily reachable on foot or by public transport. Nearby there are two supermarkets, massage center, pharmacy, bars and restaurants, shops of all kinds. The bar downstairs makes service delivery. Also downstairs is a great vegetarian restaurant Ayurvedic
Great location central to every major site in Rome. Charming apartment with lots of windows. Small but usable kitchen which we cooked in daily. Wonderful bakery & local matkets at Camp de Fiori nearby. Intermittent wifi makes e-mail a challenge as only 1 user can be on each line at a time. Giacomo is a very helpful host.
Lovely apartment, comfortable, fully equipped. Giacomo very helpful and responsive. The location is ideal, no need for taxis, busses, everything is easily walkable: Pantheon, Trastevere, Vatican. Convenient supermarkets and all you need! Highly recommend the apartment. And many thanks to Giacomo for his attentive assistance! You will love staying here!
This is an excellent location, centrally located and within walking distance to everything you want to see in Rome. There is a decent market just a block away for daily shopping. The unit was clean and modern, just a bit quirky in the layout as you would expect in the top floor of an old building. There is an elevator but note that you still have to carry your luggage another 1 1/2 floors to get to the apartment. There is a small balcony with a table and chairs were we ate all of our meals. Nothing special in the view, just the rooftops of the surrounding area, but it was nice to have an outside space. The owner was very professional to deal with and everything went very smooth.
In terms of location we rate the apartment with 5 stars. The apartment itself was excellent and as expected. However certain features keep me from giving a full 5 star review. Security at the apartment was excellent. The elevator worked beautifully to the third floor. We were advised that there were stairs to apartment; a total of 29 steps; not steep but they may pose an issue for some. Entrance to the apartment is on the bedroom/bath level and then there are stairs to the living/dinning/kitchen/balcony. The stairs are easy to access and secure with a good railing. The living area was very comfortable as was the small balcony which is equipt with a small table and chairs. The kitchen was great but we did not use it much, although I did use the washer. (Good but takes time.) The bedroom is small and comfortable. The bed itself is low to the floor making it a bit difficult for us "older" folk to get up from. But these are all minor concerns. The beauty of this apartment is its location. A ten minute walk to the Parthenon, the Forum and Piazza Venezia, the Ghetto and Campo dei Fiori. A slightly longer walk to the Trevi Fountain. And because of its nearness, all these sites can and should be seen in the evening or at night when the tourists have dispersed. Excellent transportation is literally around the corner. Our host Giacomo was charming and knowledgeable. For a slightly younger couple or a small family this could be a 5 star experience.
This apartment is ideally located to get to all the major attractions, as well as stop home in the afternoon for a nap. It was comfortable and well furnished and the kitchen was well furnished for everything we needed. The host was friendly, responsible and responsive. My only caution is that the internet was spotty at best so make sure you have an alternative or are prepared to stroll down the street to the bar to use their internet and have a beer.
My wife and I spent the month of May in Giacomo’s lovely Polluce apartment. Giacomo greeted us upon arrival and spent time to familiarize us with the apartment, the appliances, the neighborhood, etc. He was gracious and thoughtful and made himself available to answer any questions that we may have had both before and after arrival.
The apartment was clean, cozy and truly became home for us. The kitchen is fully equipped which allowed us to cook quite a few meals at home. There are 3 grocery stores within a few blocks and a very nice Gelato shop (Vale) right around the corner from the main door to the building where we ended quite a few of our days.
The location is very central with the Coliseum, the Vatican, Galleria Borghese and the main square in Trastevere all within a comfortable 20-25 minute walk. Within these 4 points are the vast majority of sights that a visitor would typically want to visit. We bought a weekly bus pass which was completely unnecessary. The only time we really needed a bus was to get to the Appian Way so a one day bus pass would have been sufficient for us. Unless you are carrying luggage, and going to or from the Termini train station, taxis are also unnecessary.
There was some music from a local club in the late afternoon but it ended early in the evening so it is fair to say that the neighborhood was quiet.
As has been mentioned by other reviewers, wi-fi is a bit spotty but certainly not a show stopper. There is a washing machine but no dryer. We used a drying rack, sometimes left out for the day on the balcony, which worked very nicely for us.
Giacomo and the apartment are a winning combination and highly recommended by both my wife and I.
