Whilst Les Etables aux Hirondelles is the smallest of our 4 gites at La Julerie with a floor space in excess of 84m2 it is still spacious and ideal for a family of up to 4 + a baby. Apart from during July and August we do offer a 10% discount on our quoted tariff when only 2 people occupy this gite for a full week or more. All of the gites have an open plan ground floor; as our son said when he was converting the properties "so that mum won't be left in the kitchen when all of the others are enjoying themselves"
This gite has a small lawned area in the front of it, and a patio area accessed through French doors to the rear where the wooden garden furniture is normally placed; beyond the patio it has its own lawned area, but the garden then opens up to the large grassed ares which is shared by all the guests at La Julerie.
We have virtually all of the equipment parents need when taking their infants on holiday which means you don’t need bring items from home; besides cots, high chairs and stair barriers we also have a baby changing table, baby bath, bottle sterilising unit, swing chair and baby chair and a listening device etc.; where needed all kitchen cupboards and upstairs windows have locks which are reversible and only need be engaged when infants are in the property. We have also fitted barriers to the patios.
Before reading further I must point out that this web-site cannot show our correct short term tariffs, hence I am having to show the minimum booking period as being 7 days throughout the year. This is not correct, apart from during July and August when we only accept weekly bookings from Saturday tp Saturday, we do accept shorter term bookings, normally of a minimum of 2 nights, but 3 nights over public holidays and 4 nights over Christmas and the New Year holiday period. For all bookings of less than 7 nights our policy has always been to charge guests for 1 night longer than they stay, for example if the weekly cost is 910 Euros, 2 nights will cost 390 Euros and 3 nights 520 Euros.
As we advertise with Brittany Ferries we are able to assist all guests coming from the UK with 20% discount on the cost of their tickets when travelling with this ferry company.
If your idea of a holiday is where you can enjoy splendid scenery, visit historic towns, see the local culture being displayed at many festivals, and possibly spend some time enjoying the beaches, or walking around the cliffs, and along quiet country roads, or playing golf, and last but not least tasting real local food Look no further. Come to La Julerie and enjoy all of these pastimes and ways of life in Le Côte D’Armor.
La Julerie is only 18km (about 20 min drive) from the coast which offers a large number of safe sandy beaches, which is what all children adore; several beaches offer sailing, and all types of surfing schools –wind, kite and sand yachts; just what the teenagers and more adventurous adults enjoy. There are many offshore islands well worth a visit at low tide, for the whole family to enjoy. We know from experience that the young children really enjoy looking in the ponds as the tide recedes for little fish and shrimps and crabs, and also collecting some of the lovely shells to be found in the sand- quite often we just reach the island and find it is time to return ahead of a rising tide- but always with really happy children!
La Julerie is only 10km from the historic town of Dinan where you can see many medieval buildings, or enjoy their weekly market or wander down a cobbled street to the port and enjoy lunch alongside the river.
The world famous Mont St Michel is less than an hour’s drive from La Julerie as is the capital of Brittany- Rennes where you will find museums featuring the history of this ancient part of France. St Malo and Dinard face each other across the estuary of the River Rance; St Malo is a busy port and a centre for yachting but also a hive of activity as a popular tourist centre, whilst its neighbour across the river hosts the annual British Film Festival each September. Dinard boasts beach tents for changing in – in 2018!
Plancoet is only 9km from La Julerie and is the location of the Crouzil restaurant, where Jean-Pierre Crouzil is your chef “Restaurant Breton | Restaurant de Cuisines de France | Restaurant Gastronomique” this in itself enough of a reason to visit Le Côte D’Armor.
However, at La Julerie we can offer you first and foremost “A Warm Welcome”, and also peace and quiet, where you are more likely to hear owls at night-time thank cars.
A perfect setting for a relaxing family holiday
A feature of La Julerie is its large leisure room through which one gets access to the indoor/outdoor swimming pool, it has glass covers which can be retracted in fine weather there is a walled patio surrounding the other 3 sides of the pool which make an ideal suntrap and pace to lie back and enjoy the sun.
Several guests have had their wedding banquets or family parties (for up to 40 guests) in the games room, and have used local outside caterers (les Traiteurs) to take care of all of the food and drink. We have the names of some to whom we can recommend. To be able to use the games room for any such facility, guests do need rent all of the Gites otherwise you would be stopping others using it and the pool. The pool is 9 x 4 mts with Roman steps at one end a a level bottom at 1.65 mts which makes it ideal for parents with young children as the parents can stand anywhere in the pool to look after their children.
Pets can be accepted subject to prior agreement (subject to a fee), but they are not allowed on any furniture nor upstairs. We do not permit smoking in any building, only outdoors.
There is ample parking space for all of the guests cars in the yard
As La Julerie is at the end of a road, and with only quiet country roads around, it is peaceful in its quiet rural setting- yet less than 2km to the town
Lydiane, our French daughter in law has her own hair salon across the yard from the gites and will take care of the hair of any of our guests during their stay. Wedding guest please book before arriving, but others can decide after arrival! One entry in our visitors book says “our top tip for the week. Ask Lydiane to cut your hair- you’ll go home a different person!”
