A wonderful villa in a lovely area

  • 5 of 5

We spent two weeks in this lovely Umbrian villa. The very friendly owners, Agnese & her husband live in the next door property which is completely separate they offered many excellent suggestions about local restaurants most of which were very good indeed and suggested that we should visit the local Di Fillippi winery which was very interesting and tremendous value for money - a tour of the wine making facilities, a large board of various local meats, cheeses & breads & 8 different wines for 15 euros each ! The house is set on a very large plot with its own impressive driveway and electric gates. There is table tennis & table football on one of the shaded terraces. The high point of the property for us was undoubtedly the very large & deep swimming pool with diving board that was kept immaculately clean. There were 6 sun beds & many recliners & tables set around the pool. While we were there the weather was very very hot as a result we were disinclined to do too much sightseeing spending many fun hours in the pool instead. Inside the house is cool and shaded with a pleasant TV area (good selection of channels) & several different places to eat both inside & out. The kitchen is attractive if a little strangely arranged. There was just about enough crockery & glassware but a few more cups & casual plastic glasses for use by the pool would have been useful. There are 3 double bedrooms downstairs one with an ensuite & 2 other bathrooms. All rooms have very efficient air conditioning units & are decorated in a quite individual & very colourful style. Upstairs there is an enormous space with double bed, a walk in wardrobe a huge sitting area with Wii & a shower room. If being picky then I would have the following suggestions : 1) there was no cleaning at all during the duration of our stay .I think that a cleaning pack should be provided with cleaning products cloths & possibly a few dishwasher tablets. I really do object to having to buy these things while away. 2) We were given a set of towels each when we arrived & these were changed at the end of the first week. I think that pool towels should also have been provided 3) I was surprised that we were not provided with clean bedding midway through. Cannara is a lovely small town with a great butcher & 2 supermarkets. It is an easy drive to Assisi, Perugia & any number of small medieval towns - including Montefaco & Spello. We had a wonderful family holiday in this lovely villa & would love to return.

Excellent Stay

  • 5 of 5

Family and friends stayed one week at Villa Mattia and loved every minute. Agnese, Massimiliano and Mattia greeted us warmly upon our arrival. Agnese even brought over a delicious fruit tart warm from her oven! The location was perfect for visiting the many hill towns of Umbria. The nights were special as we could see the lights of Assisi twinkling on the mountainside so very near by.

The pool was great for afternoon swims and the cabana provided a wonderful setting for evening wine and cheesed. Cannara was a wonderful town to visit and dine in. We all highly recommend Villa Mattia.

Absolutely wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

This villa is exactly as described; elegant, spacious, well maintained, and impeccably clean. The hosts, Agnese and Masimilliano were so accommodating whenever we needed anything. We were 6 adults in this extremely spacious villa that provided such an elegant atmosphere from its cypress-lined driveway with its remote-controlled gate to the large pool, to the two patios and well-appointed rooms and appliances. Before retrieval of our rented van, we were able to walk to the nearby town for pizza, groceries, and a fabulous, not -to- be -missed restaurant, Per Bacco! The proximity to Assisi was excellent as well as to the many other medieval towns for which Umbria is famous. The September weather was warm to hot (swimming weather) to one day of rain and very cool. This villa is truly a jewel. We miss being there already! Complimenti Masimilliano and Agnese!

Absolutely wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

This was truly everything as described. Elegant, absolutely clean, well maintained, good customer service and certainly activities if traveling with younger children. We were 6 adults and it was extremely spacious for us. Before renting our car, we were able to walk to the nearby town for pizza and a most wonderful restaurant called PerBacco! We would most definitely recommend this villa to others. The driveway alone with its large remote controlled gate made us feel as if we were in a movie. The proximity to Assisi was excellent as well as to the other wonderfully interesting medieval towns for which Umbria is famous. The September weather was fabulous (one day rain and very cool) but otherwise swimming weather. The villa is extraordinarily maintained. Masimilliano and Agnese were great hosts and nicely accommodating. We miss it already.

Einmalige Villa, nette Besitzer, exzellenter Pool

  • 5 of 5

Immaculate villa with a fantastic pool

  • 5 of 5

We stayed as a group of eight mid-20s in the villa for one week. The pictures and description of the villa were accurate and the furnishings and various utilities throughout the villa were of a high quality and well maintained. Although we were only 8 we could easily have fitted in two more adults into the villa without feeling at all cramped.

For us the stand out feature of the villa is the pool - large with a diving board - which is clearly well looked after and has ample areas to sunbathe /eat around it. In addition Agnese and Massimiliano (the owners) were very friendly and suggested a number of local restaurants (all of which we attended got a thumbs up from the group!) plus potential day trips in the area. The area itself has plenty going on with numerous picturesque towns a short drive away. Testament to this would be the fact that neither of the two large Sky+ HD TVs were used at all during the week despite a couple of rainy days!

Overall we were extremely impressed with the villa and wouldn't hesitate at all to recommend the villa to a friend.

Villa Mattia lies deep in the green countryside of Umbria and it enjoys a splendid panoramic position that will help to make your stay pleasant and relaxing.

Here you will be a stone's throw away from Assisi, it can be reach even by bike.

In close proximity, 10 minutes by car and you could visit beautiful medieval villages such as Spello, Bevagna, Bettona, Trevi, Montefalco that are every bit as good as the most famous Assisi where real umbrian cuisine can be enjoyed and you can drink regional wines.

In 15-20 minutes you can reach Perugia by car, it's a gorgeous medieval town with an extraordinary artistic and historical background.

In 30 minutes you can reach Gubbio (where is very famous the 'Festa dei Ceri'), Todi, Orvieto, Spoleto and the Trasimeno lake. You can visit an incredible number of small villages around the Lake.

Rome and Florence can be reach in about an hour!

In short... you can't get bored in Umbria!

Golf: - The 18 hole Championship Golf Course of Antognolla, designed by the famous course architect Robert Trent Jones jr. is situated in central Umbria only 20 minutes north of Perugia. It is an unrivaled experience for both the professional and amateur golfer alike.

As well as the charming Club House & Bar, the authentic restaurant ‘Il Caldaro’, serving local Umbrian cuisine.

The Antognolla golf school is headed by the resident professional Santiago Mignini.

-Perugia Golf Club is situated at 6 km from the historical centre of the Etruscan city of Perugia and it is near to important towns of historical and artistic interest such as Assisi, Gubbio, Todi, Spoleto and Cortona.

The course is a 72 par which centre is dated back to'50s.

The club house was originally an old furnace, as you can see from the important towers.

The practice course is enriched with a wood modern facility that welcome people that cross the gate.

The good restaurant, serving local Umbrian cuisine, complete the services.
