Over 25 kilometres of groomed cross country skiing begin at your front door. The neighboring Stillwater State Forest, in the foothills of the Whitefish Range of the Rocky Mountains, gives you the opportunity to hike or mountain bike endless trails in the summer and cross country ski or snowshoe in the winter. A brand new section of the Whitefish Trail includes a 'Beaver Trails' trailhead directly across from the lodge.

A short hike from the lodge brings you to Murray Lake, a secluded lake that provides plenty of opportunity to fish, swim, SUPor canoe. Beaver Lake and numerous smaller lakes are just up the road in the State Forest.

The lodge offers three beautifully appointed suites to retreat to at day's end. Centrally located for use by the East and West Suites, is an inviting great room with a well-equipped community kitchen.

A sliding door off the great room accesses a comfortable, timbered porch with mountain views. The quaint Studio with a private entrance provides additional lodging. Reserve one suite or book the entire lodge, providing spacious accommodations for up to 14 people.

The Nordic House, newly finished, has a more contemporary feeling. Numerous windows offer views into the forest and ranges beyond. A large wrap around deck offers a perfect viewpoint for wildlife and birds. Two bedrooms, one with a queen bed, one with a full bed + twin sleeper. About Kirsten Sabin

Stillwater Mountain Lodge was started by two families- Kirsten and Reid Sabin, and Tom and Meagen Healy. The couples had a love for skiing and a vision to create an outdoor playground for the community of Whitefish and its visitors year round. After a year of hard work and renovation- Stillwater Mountain Lodge and Nordic Center was open! In the winter you can find Tom and Reid meticulously grooming the nordic trails or skiing with their families. In the summer, we all enjoy hiking, biking and canoeing in the area.

Kirsten Sabin purchased this lodge in 2005

Why Kirsten Sabin chose Montana

Stillwater Mountain Lodge is conveniently located just minutes from Whitefish, yet in the seclusion of the adjacent Stillwater State Forest. The Nordic trails meander through the forest, along ridgetops and along the lakeshore (and across Murray Lake when frozen!) In the summer, wildlife sightings, hiking and canoeing are just some of the reasons Stillwater's location is perfect for a vacation.

What makes this lodge unique

Stillwater Mountain Lodge is the perfect setting for a family vacation - even if your family includes the 4 legged furry members! Dogs are welcome at Stillwater and have thousands of acres to play in the neighboring forest lands. Groomed cross country trails begin at your door in the winter (dogs are allowed on nearly 1/2 of the trails as well!)

Enjoy a fully equipped kitchen, wireless internet, comfortable linens, organic shampoos and soaps to make your stay close to 'home'.

Had a great time. Lodge accommodated 3 families and a golden retriever. We biked, hiked and visited small quiet lakes nearby. Whitefish close by for convenience and good restaurants. Quiet nights and outdoor fires suited us all. Glacier less than an hour away. We all said we'd do it again. Host was responsive to all our questions and needs.
