Guestbook comments from the manager

Dear Sophie

I would be very happy to write a review but I am struggling to access the webpage. Is there another way to leave a review? If you can post it yourself, my review would be:

"Berkeley House is absolutely gorgeous. Tucked away in the quiet country lanes just outside the centre of Bath, it played host to a very enjoyable weekend. The friendly and helpful owners were there to greet us when we arrived. Having showed us around and made us feel at home, they left us to enjoy everything that Berkeley House had to offer for the rest of our stay but I have no doubt that they would have been on hand if we needed anything. The House had everything to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable: plenty of space inside for everyone to spread out; logs for the cosy open fire in the evenings; a pretty garden with plenty of tables and chairs to sit in the sunshine; table tennis and other activities; lovely crisp clean bed linen and towels; the list could go on. I would highly recommend a stay at Berkeley House."

All the best

Incredible house - highly recommend!

  • 5 of 5

Me and my 13 of my friends stayed at Berkley House a couple of weekends ago and had the most amazing time! We pulled up the drive and the house is so impressive from the outside. The garden is lovely and the house is beautiful. The bedrooms were big and spacious, there was more than enough room for us all and everything was clean and in good condition.

It seems like owners Paul and Jackie really have made the house perfect for occasion weekends, yet it also felt like our very own house as had a very lovely homely feel about it. The house has literally everything you’d need, and a lot more that you think you don’t need, but are pleasantly surprised by – a chocolate fountain for example! The reception rooms are a great size, and the kitchen became the hub of the house for us over the weekend. We were sold on the house from the pictures of the dining room under the conservatory – we had a dinner on Saturday night in the dining room with candles around and it was so wonderful. The whole weekend worked perfectly.

I can’t recommend Berkley house enough - thank you very much for letting us stay!

Stunning property with everything we needed!

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely perfect house for a group of 11 friends retreating from London (only a 2 hour drive). The house had everything we could have possibly needed, and ample space! Our weekend consisted of food, wine, long walks, pub lunches, open fires, and lots of board games, all in this beautiful setting.

The conservatory dining room was the perfect place, morning and evening, with lovely views. The kitchen had plenty of space to cook for lots of people, with an Aga and a hot plate. ALL the bedrooms were beautiful; super comfy beds, soft towels and a killer shower!

Would highly recommend and hope to be back!

The perfect venue

  • 5 of 5

We booked Berkeley House for a Hen do with 14 ladies. We were looking for somewhere with space and food facilities so that we didn't have to leave the house for the long weekend. This venue was perfect. From the moment that you arrive you are wowed with the view and the house itself. Meeting the owners of the house was easy and they were very easy to communicate with in the lead up to the event. It was a pleasure to walk into each room and it was even better than the photo's. Every bedroom was beautifully decorated and the beds were incredibly comfortable. The living and dining areas are perfect and very spacious. The kitchen was incredibly well equipped and had every possible item you could need. Every time we cursed for having left something at home we'd then discover the house already had one.

The kitchen was the hub of activity for the weekend, it's a stunning room and the addition of the conservatory means you get lots of natural light and tonnes of room to hang out. We had breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner sat around the table with the glorious views. There was plenty of crockery, cutlery and serving plates, dishes etc. It allowed the organisation/ execution of our Hen weekend to be seamless. The only tiny thing that we noted was that there was only one chopping board when we could have done with two or three.

The outside space is also beautiful and we managed to create an outdoor cinema using the wooden beams/ trellis to the side of the house using a sheet.

My personal highlight was discovering the steam functionality in the double showers. Amazing. They also had ipod/ iphone docks for both the old and new generation phones. As well as a portable CD player. Another important feature was the reasonable distance to Sainsbury's which is essential when you plan to host meals there over a number of days. However we did also get an ocado order delivered :)

The house is full of character and charm but yet also modern enough to cater to any age range. Every day we discovered something new about it that we loved. It really was the perfect venue.

Beautiful house in beautiful Bath

  • 5 of 5

The house is stunning- even better than the photos. The grounds and the views are wonderful! We felt so lucky to be staying in such a beautiful home. 10 mins into central bath in a taxi but you could happily spend your whole time at the house. Lovely artwork throughout and tastefully decorated. Would certainly recommend and hope to stay again in the future.

Clean, wonderful feel to the house

  • 5 of 5

Sophie was very helpful and nice. House is older, but has that old house charm to it with an AGA oven.

We had a family reunion with four families and it was perfect for it. Lots of room for kids to go out to play and adults to stay in to chat. Plenty of kitchen space.

Had the most wonderful time!

[Only minor warning. Will say that there is no AC but apparently we got unusual weather this summer with no rain during the days and it was hot for the first part of the week. I imagine 95% of the year there is no need for AC]
