About Bill Forbes and Judah Forbes
I moved to Lake McConaughy in 2007. For most of my life I had owned my own home, but when moving to the lake I wasn't sure this was a permanent spot to grow roots. An opportunity presented itself where I could rent inexpensively and I considered this to be a good financial move, so I grabbed it. Years passed and I decided Lake McConaughy was the next best thing to my dream of living in the South Pacific. I not only loved the lake and the water, but the local people were so genuine and warm. The clincher was when my youngest son came to live with me at age 14 or 15. He had several choices when it came to schools, but he decided on Arthur County Public School. This turned out to be a transforming decision for him in more ways than one. Two hundred miles north of Lake MacConaughy are the beautiful sand hills of Nebraska. Arthur County lies within those hills and with my son attending that school I got to know many of the sand hills people. I found them to be an unusual group of people that thought in unique ways. Tough, rugged, self sufficient, honest, hospitable, warm, kind, sensitive, helpful, genuine, intelligent, and were able to overcome any obstacle that presented itself. I was living at the edge of a rare culture of people to the north of me and a mixture of people splashed along the lake who had migrated from various backgrounds. Many of them had wanted to escape the noise and confusion of densely populated areas. As I surveyed all the opportunities here, the broad spectrum of people's backgrounds and their warmth, the slow and easy living, the beautiful lake, the white sand beaches, all of the activities, the almost country living, and all the favorable circumstances, I concluded it was time to buy. I already owned several rentals in the middle eastern part of the state that had been successful, and I determined to invest in something I could periodically offer to vacationers. As I told my son the plan, he said, "Dad, I'll buy in with you".

Why Bill Forbes and Judah Forbes chose Lewellen
I began the search by , not contacting a realtor, but putting miles on my car driving the area to find what I considered the best place for me. I drove up and down the lake observing houses, areas, subdivisions, neighborhoods, and locations to find what I considered to be the best spot in my price range.

Family lake trip!
2nd time here for long weekend, plan to return !
We had a great time. Myself and a friend took 5 guys that have intellectual disabilities. We couldn’t of had a better time. Lots of memories made !!
Short pleasant stay
We enjoyed our two night stay at the cabin. We were passing through on a several day adventure to take my 80 year old Mom on a western Nebraska/Colorado vacation. The cabin was very clean. There are no steps which was nice for Mom! The kitchen had all the utensils and cookware to make small or big meals, along with the outdoor grill. The front porch was large and with a nice lake view. We brought our pups, and they enjoyed hikes in the area (Ash Hollow was awesome!). There are a few off leash dogs around the cabin area, always with their owners. Not usually a problem for us but our younger pup was very anxious and fearful so we kept our guys on leash. Not a problem, just something to know. Owners greeted us. Would recommend to friends and family for sure!! Also would like to come back for a longer stay and bring the boat.
The Property was very well maintained and stocked. We had all of the conveniences of home with a view of the lake. Marinas were with in walking distance or short drive, Had a great time and were able to relax with no worry's, Very quiet location.
Amazing vacation spot
This was my first time using VRBO. Everything was so easy. Bill was great. The kids loved it and want to go back next year. Fishing was great. We took our bikes and rode all over. I couldn't have asked for a better vacation. Thank you Bill.
Great stay at the Lake!
This property was everything described! Bill, the owner, was available when we had questions and reached out to us to make sure we were enjoying our stay. Everything you need for a great vacation - just bring your food to cook and you're all set! Great to have kayaks available to rent as well. Thanks for the nice place to stay!
