Walk to town's shops, historic movie theater, restaurants and performance center
About Susanna Wilson
This carriage house is next to our historic Victorian which has been in my family since the late 1950's. The main house was built in 1875. The carriage house probably in the 1920's and was totally refurbished and enlarged in 2015. The redwood tree in the back yard is at least one hundred years old. A merry little creek provides its music during wet weather. This is a quiet neighborhood. You can hear the birds sing!
Susanna Wilson purchased this Bungalow in 1875
Why Susanna Wilson chose Grass Valley
Private, quiet, walk to town and the nearby Nevada County Fairgrounds is a quick drive or 15 minute walk through Condon Park. I've updated the houses several times, so everything works. The carriage house was completely renovated in the summer of 2015. Everything is fresh and clean.

Cozy cottage, minutes away from Downtown Nevada City
Cute little place w a lot of character !!! I will be staying there again! Thanks again ..
Susanna is a wonderful host! She made sure that all my needs were met with her special touches.
Susanna provided so many yummy foods to compliment her kitchen; fresh bread, oranges, coffee (cream) and tea, popcorn for the Super Bowl game (butter) and various seasonings. The Carriage House is clean, comfortable, decorated lovely, located within walking distance to downtown Grass Valley, and located in a nice and quiet neighborhood. This is my second stay, and schedule permitting will be my "go to" vacation home away from home as often as I can make the journey to Grass Valley. Parking is on property which is another positive asset. Thank you Susanna for providing a wonderful home ~ you are the best host!
Thanks, Louise for the great review.
As we talked about, book ahead and make sure it's available when you come up.
Hope to see you again soon.
Cute little cottage-like place
A quaint, nice little studio style room, with a kitchenette and a loft with a large bed. A second bed is made from the couch, with a pullout trundle for a third place to sleep. The host was super friendly and had left delicious pumpkin bread, creamer, and a few other goodies for us upon our arrival. Off street parking for one car, and very quiet, clean, and comfortable. Would return here!
Thanks for the review and for being our guest. We'd love to have you back again.
Something lovely in a small package !
That saying "good things come in small packages" surely applies to this gorgeous little Carriage House. It has been efficiently and tastefully designed to accommodate guests and even though it is small it is not cramped. My husband and I are transitioning to the area and want to get a good feel for the community and this has worked out perfectly for us. VLMitchell
Thanks for the nice review.
I look forward to finding out if you land and where you land in our community. Especially if it means great cooking! Heh.
Charming place to stay
We stayed for 2 weeks in the carriage house while visiting family in Grass Valley. Even with 3 adults we had ample room. I was delighted at the creative ways Susanna decorated and made use of space so you had everything you needed and it was not cluttered. The sitting area in the back was so peaceful. It was a simple walk to town for which we were grateful when we went to the Cornish Christmas as parking was hard to come by. Susanna made us feel welcome by being sure we had coffee and delicious treats. Great place to stay!
Thanks for your kind review.
I was mightly impressed with your mom and how she was still traveling and having fun with the family.
Happy New Year.
Cute little cottage, with lots of welcoming details.
Stayed 3 nights, and thought this was so much better than an expensive hotel. Nice older neighborhood within walking distance of downtown G.V. restaurants. Wonderful small little house feel. New, fresh furnishings and appliances. Fresh bread, butter, homemade jam, fruit and juices for a simple breakfast. As well as teas and coffee for you to make. Great internet, parking is easy.
Make sure you feel good about climbing a ladder to the loft, where the bed is. Couch hide a bed is in need of an overhaul.
Wonderful, cozy, welcoming stay.
So sorry you couldn't get up to the queen-sized loft bed. I've never had two guests try the small sofa bed. No wonder you were uncomfortable.
Perhaps I need to make it more evident on the website that the queen-szeloft bed is reached by the ladder?
This if my first negative review. I'll take note.
Thanks for your comments.
Walk downtown to local restaurants, historic movie theatre, antique and clothing stores and Center for the Arts for live music.
