Flexibility amid the Virus
The host has always been so prompt with replies, and always so helpful to arrange rental car even for our extended stay. While we weren’t able to travel because of cancelled flights because of this over hyped virus, the host has been flexible with us and allowing us to rebook within a year. We are planning on next spring and looking forward to snorkeling in front of the Turtle Nest Inn. I loved how they even posted a snorkeling map with suggestions.
Our trip was delayed because of the Covid-19 breakout. Management was great to work with and allowed us to delay our trip. We look forward to staying here soon!
We loved the charm of this small inn. It is away from busy Seven Mile beach but central to everything on the island. Easy to explore the island with a car. The inn is quiet and just perfect for relaxing.
Property was very nice. Biggest problem was the long distance to the 7 Mile Beach--with traffic sometimes 30-45 minutes. I was very upset with the +25% charge on everything.
Thanks for staying at Turtle Nest Inn & Condos, and for taking the time to submit a review.
But, unless you leave the Inn during the morning rush hour into George Town, it takes about 20 minutes to drive to Seven Mile Beach.
As well, there are several other great beaches around the island which do not involve dealing with traffic, regardless of the time of day.
As to the "+25% charge on everything" which upset the reviewer, we're not sure exactly what is being referred to, since we're not aware of any such charge.
Could it be the exchange rate between the US dollar and the Cayman Islands dollar? US$1.00 here is worth CI$0.80; as in the UK, US$1.00 is worth 0.76 GBP; in continental Europe, US$1.00 is worth 0.90 EUR.
Yes, many items sold here are somewhat more costly than in the USA, but considering that there's very little industry here; that most commodities are imported (and subject to import duty and transportation costs), this is to be expected, both in the Cayman Islands and on other Caribbean islands.
But, at the end of the day, a vacation on Grand Cayman can be very affordable, and less costly than elsewhere in the Caribbean.
A week at the Inn in a full apartment with kitchen, between August 16th and October 31st is as low as US$799 -- including rental car! There's also an excellent gas BBQ on our beach for guests' use (no charge).
And there are many inexpensive dining spots around the island if you prefer eating out to cooking.
All beaches around the island are public and free, and excellent snorkelling right off our beach -- and right around Grand Cayman -- costs nothing.
Lovely location on a great untouched reef, amazing sandy beach and quiet family location
