I'm working and living in Dublin, Ireland, I work as a marketer and photographer - I love both and have studied for a masters in the two.
We fell in love with Croatia from the first moment we got there. I manage a number of blocks on the island and I really enjoy helping guests make plans. I'm always available for a call or you'll get me on email.
Alison McDonnell purchased this apartment in 2004
These properties are ideal for exploring the Split area of Croatia, minutes to a beautiful bay and all amenities are within a short walking distance. We've had almost 100 reviews written over the years with an average rating of 4.8 out of 5.
The views from the apartments are spectacular, waking up each morning to them is a delight. The 2400 year old medieval town of Trogir is on your doorstep and must be seen and explored.
A little tip.. You can find some secluded beaches to the back of the apartment block - they are breathtaking and quiet and picturesque.
Also you must check out Duga bay, just up the road.
Leonardos and Srdela are excellent restaurants - tell Luka in Leos and Roberto in Srdela that I sent you.
"We were delighted with the accommodation at Mavarcica. There were lovely views across the bay and the apartment was well provisioned and was very spacious. The two bathrooms meant we had no need to use the third toilet! What wasn't clear when we booked was whether there would be air conditioning (we were on floor 2), but there was and this was welcome as an escape from the hot Mediterranean heat.
The apartments were a short walk from local shops, restaurants and beaches all of which were well used and enjoyed by us.
We have not been to Croatia before, but found everyone very friendly and welcoming. Don't expect to bump into lots of other English tourists, it is a very cosmopolitan holiday destination, which we enjoyed. The sea was clear and the local water polo added an extra point of interest.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. A must is the water taxi into Trogir and a wander around the city. We also went to the Krka waterfall park, which although busy had more waterfallls than you could shake a stick at - fantastic."

Last year we were fully booked, to avoid any disappointments book early...
The season in Ciovo over the last few years has been getting longer. The season now starts as early as March/April and running right through to October and November. We have had many clients go over at these times of year and have really enjoyed it. We think there is a benefit for each month and it depends on what holiday experience you are looking for. For example the early months of March and April offer a relaxed quite atmosphere plus Croatia offers warm weather in comparison to the UK, Ireland, Germany etc. The high season offers very warm weather, a lively atmosphere, right in the hustle and bustle of everything. The end of the season offers the last of the summer sun, a great time to do some sightseeing and to get a feel for Croatia and its beautiful countryside.
Lots of festivals take place throughout the whole year. Split offers the Opera and Ballet. Why not go at Easter or Mid Term breaks. Call us at any stage if you want more information about the best time to go.
We booked this not really knowing what to expect. We wanted a couple of quiet days near a beach and that's exactly what we got. Well, near 2 beaches actually ( the further one is busier and the nearest one quiet with a bar/pizza place so you can see what mood you're in and act accordingly!)
The apartment was clean and comfortable, with air con in the main room. There was a lovely view of the sea and restaurant literally on our doorstep. There are nice touches in the apartment such as local info, a few books to read and dvd/cd.
The booking process was very efficient with prompt responses and really helpful staff greeted us on arrival and answered any questions.
We enjoyed taking the water taxi to and from Trogir - just a 15/20 min walk from the apartment ( it was hot so we took it slowly!). Trogir is busy and full of character, great choice of restaurants.
You do need to be reasonably fit as there are fairly steep hills from the beach back to the apartment, but this was not a problem.
Thanks for a lovely couple of days.
The apartment is very spacious, bright and well equipped. Situated on the top floor of a quite modern apartment-building it offers a big living room, a well equipped kitchen, two dormitories and bathooms and a lovely terrace where we spent our breakfasts and some dinners with a breathtaking view of the sea and the neighboring islands.
The island of Ciovo offers some lovely beaches (our favourite: Duga plaza near Okrug Gornij), shops and several good restaurants. The beautiful medieval town of Trogir with its excellent restaurants and busy local market can be reached by car or regular shuttle boat. We recommend the latter, to avoid getting stuck in local traffic.
I just had the most lovely two weeks in a very spacious two bed apartment overlooking the Adriatic. There were beautiful views from the terrace and I would sit there drinking my coffee every morning for a least half an hour. The apartment was so clean and very well equipped. There were two full bathrooms which made all the difference with young children. It was very comfortable. Alison has left DVDs and games which were helpful and the adults seemed to enjoy them even more :)
We did eat out but not as much as I thought as it was so easy to cook in and relax after a day at the pool or the beach. The pool is lovely but we adored the beach and went swimming in the clear water every day. Made for big appetites. Cooking in was easy because everything was there.
We were greeted on arrival and shown around the apartment. It was great. Fresh bed linen and towels were provided.
Trogir via the water taxi is a must!! And the ice cream is another must.
I will definitely be going back in the near future.
This apartment is very clean, it has two bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, a good size living space and a large balcony which was lovely to sit out in the evenings, there is a small kitchen and the apartment has aircon, our stay was very comfortable. It was great to have a small pool and 3 sunbeds for our kids to use in the mornings but a few families and it was quite cramped. We didn't hire a car because we were aware that it can take an hour to get off the island in summer but a car is essential just to take you to the beach and restaurants. There is a restaurant under the apartment block which is very good but to walk to any of the nicer beaches and other restaurants it is a long walk and a lot of steep hills, we had small children with us and getting around was very difficult without a car. The island is very modern with lots of new builds popping up and on going building work, and the beaches are all stones/rocks, mainly imported, so it felt like a new holiday destination. For a more real old Croatian feel, there is a boat trip to another island which has an old harbour which was pleasant for an afternoon. It is a very quiet place so good if you want to get away from any nightlife but not so good if you want to go out at night.
Our holiday was amazing! The apartments are exactly as described and were, in fact, even better than we dared hope for. We rented three with my sisters and brothers families. The layout is relaxing and spacious but also very practical for a holidaying group or family. All mod cons are provided, you really need for nothing here. The apartment is cleaned and maintained to the highest standard and feels comfortable and luxurious - the finish is superb. Our beds were very comfortable and there is extra linen available.
Both bedrooms are nicely furnished with plenty of hanging and drawer space. There is a small safe in the double bedroom wardrobe which gave me peace of mind for passports etc.
The bathrooms are lovely, sparkling clean and the overall feeling is of high quality with marble tiling throughout.
We found the kitchen to be very well equipped - there was everything we needed to cook family meals on the nights we stayed in.
The view from the balcony is breathtaking! I spent happy mornings watching the sun rise over the sea. The balcony is spacious and well furnished. The area in which the apartment block is situated is quiet and peaceful and it really is a very pleasant (short) walk down to the beach.
There is small beach with cafe and diving school only three minutes away and is a great attraction. The village, only ten minutes walk away has everything- supermarket, bakery, bars, restaurants, church, post office, ATM, hairdresser, doctor and pharmacy. For good measure an internet cafe opened recently. If that is not enough there is the added attraction of Trogir, which is 2400 years old, and only minutes away by taxi or water taxi. I loved it and felt that I had gone back in time when I visited there. We felt very safe and welcome in Croatia.
Alison has been friendly and helpful throughout the whole planning and booking process offering advice and going out of the way at times.
I know for certain we'll be back - Joanna.
