Fantastic.

We stayed at the badger sett for my mum's 60 th birthday there was 6 adults 1 newborn baby and our pooch. The cottage is fantastic and spacious we never felt. On top of each other and the two bathrooms meant no one had to wait for showers etc. The cottage is very well equipped and very modern. The beds are soooooo comfortable. The cottage and grounds are so dog friendly and secure our dog could mooch and bark at near by cows til his heart was content. I would highly recommend the badger sett and we can't wait to return. Thank you for a wonderful weekend. 😆򑠊Natasha douglas.

Book it! You won't regret it!

We arrived in snow which changed to sunny and hot as the week progressed but as soon as we stepped into the cottage we knew that we would have a fabulous holiday whatever the weather.

It is beautifully decorated, warm , clean and extremely well equipped. The location is excellent and the garden fully enclosed so dog and children friendly.

The surrounding countryside is spectacular -so much to do and see. A truly beautiful part of England. Ditch the Satnav and just explore!

Excellent

Unfortunately we had terrible weather but the cottage helped to ameliorate this. It was perfect for 5 adults, a baby and a dog, with lots of room so we didn't feel we were living on top of each other. It was very well kitted out and we really wanted for nothing during our stay. Would definitely use this cottage again.

Simply stunning. A fabulous home from home.

When a property is gated, you know it's going to be good! Set in picturesque surroundings, we were spoilt by the luxury and comfort of this beautiful, well thought out holiday cottage. It felt more like home than anywhere we have ever stayed. With it's spacious lay out, it was perfect for our family which included an 11 month old and some furry friends as well. We chose the cottage for it's rural location as we wanted to explore some of the less commercialised parts of the Lake District. We were spoilt for choice and although needed a car to get to most places, the views were spectacular. We will certainly be visiting again! Dom, the owner was also very organised and always on hand to answer any questions. Very good value I must say and comfy beds too!

Badger Sett

  • 5 of 5

Great accommodation, very well equipped and maintained. It is very child friendly, all on one level, childrens books and games supplied, and cows outside in the field!

Lovely local village (hilly walk with a buggie!) with great pub, tea room and play park.

I would recommend this cottage, and hope to return myself.

our adventures at the badger sett

  • 5 of 5

well where do we start?

perhaps with the super clean well appointed house, or the soft and comfy beds,or perhaps the posh bathroom and extra shower room for my huge teenagers or even should i mention the close access to mountain bike trails. i must not forget to tell you all about the lovely walk to the next village with the micro brewery and the delicious beer as well as their child friendly welcome.also the canoe and swimming adventure on derwent water. booths in nearby keswick is a treat filled supply of foods and gave us fodder for the walks and river swimming in rosthwaite black moss pot. well anyway wherever we start it all ends with an amazing stay at the badger sett.we will defiantly book this lovely cosy house again and just so you don't believe all the hype about it being wet in the lake district we had dry sunny days enjoying barbecues outside on two evenings watching the sun dip whilst sipping wine in the garden.

cant recommend it more highly .

Situated in a secluded valley, The Badger Sett is one of just a handful of houses that make up the hamlet of Newlands. The lovely Lakeland village of Hesket Newmarket, with its famous co-operatively owned pub and micro brewery, The Old Crown, is just a one mile stroll down a peaceful country lane. The remote Caldbeck Fells are on the doorstep and provide fantastic opportunities for walking and mountain biking and The Caldew and Caldbeck Rivers which run through our valley are excellent for kayaking. The classic peaks of Blencathra and Helvellyn are both close by and provide some of the best walking and scrambling routes in the UK. If you prefer more hustle and bustle the popular town of Keswick is a 25 minute drive away whilst historic Hutton-in-the-Forest with its famous horse trials is just around the corner. For long distance walkers The Cumbria Way passes through our valley and for road cyclists The Reivers Route (known as the Return CTC) goes right past the bottom of our drive!

Golf: There are a number of top quality and picturesque courses all within easy reach.

Stony Holme, near Carlisle (16 miles) features an 18-hole 5787-yard par 69 course, as well as a challenging nine-hole par 3 course and a 16-bay floodlit driving range. http://www.carlislegolfclub.org/

Silloth-on-Solway (23 miles) is a fine coastal links course with stunning views of the Galloway Hills to the north, and south to the Lakeland fells and the distant Isle of Man. The Championship links of 6,641 yards has been laid out over the sand-hills west of town and is an R & A Regional Qualifying Course for the Open. http://www.sillothgolfclub.co.uk/

Keswick (12 miles) features an 18 hole, 6225 yards, Par 71 course with commanding views of Lakeland scenery. http://www.keswickgolfclub.com/
