Our patio and garden area are a standout and have been called by some "a little slice of heaven''. There are walkways meanderng thru the large well manicured flower filled yard. Also a grove of redwoods and bamboo trees and Japanese Maples, a large fig tree, a Meyer lemon tree and in summer a plum tree ..There is always an herb garden in summer months for your use. The patio itself has the same Italian tile that the house has. and it has a nice big firepit surrounded by large Adirondack chairs, A patio set with four comfy chairs and an umbrella for outdoor dining as well as a 48' Vermont Castings gas grill. There is also a flagstone patio with another sitting area in the sunshine it is wonderful on those days you want to just enjoy the sun the flowers and the quiet.. except for the birds and the squirrels. The yard is filled with 400 yr old Valley Oak trees and offers a Wonderful 'ZEN' like setting. These words are how most of my guests have described the yard and most say they don't want to leave even for dinner as they want to spend time in the garden and patio. I have flowers in the yard year-round as gardening is my hobby so it is always easy for me to make it beautiful as I love it. The patio and garden area is surrounded by little white mini lights in the evening for a magical feel .
This cottage is for people used to only the best. I have hosted two PGA Golf PRO's while they played the Charles Scwhab Cup Champions tournament. They both wrote nice reviews and loved my attention to detail. Ask me who they are?
Evening times you can hear the sound of crickets from the nearby Sonoma Creek and either that or the waterfall will lull you to sleep...I am a designer/developer in Lake Tahoe and put my experience to work in making this a perfect wine country getaway!!!
READ the reviews and you will see how very special this cottage is.
We are both in the real estate business David full time realtor Helen a developer/designer in Tahoe. We have been in this business most all of our lives and own and manage other properties ..We know what we expect when we travel and we try to do the same with the first class amenities we provide and the immaculate condition we have the cottage in for each guest.. David was born in SF and grew up in Redding CA where he was a fire Captain for CDF. He retired early to join Helen in the sales business. I was raised in Los Gatos CA where I worked with the family business of development and property management ..
We love to travel and go to new places but enjoy Maui the most!! We have traveled a lot and look forward to more but mostly we love to golf and travel to places where we can play the local and resort courses. We love Sonoma area for the golf and the closeness to the SF area as we love the theatre also.
Helen Tanner purchased this cottage in 2005
We love the convenience of the property to all the wineries and the Sonoma Square. It is within walking distance for our guests and the wineries are within five min from the cottage. The cottage is in a quiet neighborhood.
We love our little cottage and you will find that it shows and it has a warm and happy feeling the min you walk thru the door!! We have some guests who have returned to visit our cottage now as many as six times.. When you walk in the front door you can see out to thru the big French doors the beautiful yards with big large old oaks and the white roses that climb the fence, the flowers and the big fig and meyer lemon tree. Truly a gorgeous sight. The quiet is Zen like and some have called it my "little slice of heaven" it truly is.
Come and stay and see for yourself!!
A wonderful stay in your beautiful warm home!! Thank you and I hope we can make it back!!

Great Cottage home, one I would love to live in for the rest of my life. Very relaxing and had all the amenities! Loved the Wolfe Oven too! Baked a Pecan Pie in the oven! I AM THE PieMan! Best pies around too in the Columbus Ohio area!
Helen's cottage was the perfect place for our four-night wine country vacation. It's beautifully appointed with attention to every detail and simply exudes charm. The layout is ideal for two couples with split double master bedrooms. After each day of sightseeing and wine tasting, we found ourselves preferring to come back to the cottage, cook in the kitchen and at the grill, then dine on the patio over going out. The backyard and gardens are a haven. We can't say enough good things about this place and would highly recommend it.
We had two couples traveling and spent 3 nights at Helen's cottage. Every room was well appointed and comfortable. It was as if we were family that Helen wanted to make feel as welcomed as possible. Very tastefully decorated and every detail tended to, we could not imagine one more thing that would have made this house more satisfying. We cooked in the kitchen and had everything we needed. We grilled out and made a few fires in the pit. Fantastic. Hot water in the shower was plentiful with great water pressure. Large, fluffy towels. Sumptuous bedding assured great sleeping (although our travel mates said the mattress on the bed in the front of the house could use a rotation as the felt that the mattress sloped toward the headboard). The garden was extraordinary and we enjoyed a lemon, a lime and a few figs. All-in-all...paradise!
My family of five stayed at Helen's cottage for five days. The location is excellent, close to the Sonoma plaza, restaurants, shopping and hiking. Every morning we drank our tea in the immaculate backyard (more like a garden) and watched the humming birds play. The house is well stocked and beautiful. I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to stay in the Sonoma area.
Booked the hideaway for a girls weekend trip away in wine country. Location is easy and central to Sonoma. Quiet neighborhood - residential area well taken care of. The home itself is perfect - 2 cozy fluffy beds and a pull out couch, 2 fully stocked bathrooms (soap, lotion, shampoo, hair dryer, curler even) and a patio to die for. The patio and garden area are equipped with a gas grill and fire pit, gardens to admire, a few seating areas ... Really ideal for those nice cooler nights with twinkly lights setting the mood.
The kitchen has everything you need to cook and enjoy wine and a dining area to enjoy a meal.
Seriously, it was amazing. I'd love to come back another time and I highly highly recommend.
Fantastic home in Sonoma with attention to the smallest of details. Comfortable linens, plush towels, excellent coffee and fresh flowers throughout. We loved spending time in the beautiful backyard and since both the front and back are entirely fenced-in my son was free to roam. It was prefect.
World Class Restaurants, Winetasting, Wonderful boutique shopping downtown Sonoma Square and Napa Outlet Stores, golf and world class spa,Wineries within five min of the cottage.
