About the property

Cabin, 1 Bedrooms, 1 Baths, 1 Half Baths, Sleeps 6

Discover A-frame living at its best when you stay at this one-bedroom (plus a loft) Carnelian Bay retreat, a charming and cozy home with two private decks, mountain and lake views, and an outdoor hot tub at the foot of the trees.

This two-level cabin is just one block from the banks of Lake Tahoe itself, half a mile from Patton Beach, one mile from Carnelian Beach West, and three miles from Kings Beach. Come wintertime, it's also only 10 miles from Northstar California Resort, 14 miles from Alpine Meadows, and 15 miles from Squaw Valley.

The interior living space is full of character and comfort, featuring exposed wood decor, a built-in window seat, and a wood-burning fireplace. Return home from a day of skiing or snowshoeing to check the mountain report on the WiFi or watch your favorite show on the flatscreen cable TV.

You'll have a vintage-inspired stove and refrigerator, a farm sink, and every modern convenience in the full kitchen, which backs up to a dining nook with ample seating for six. But in the sunny summer months, you'll do most of your cooking on the tree-lined side deck, where you'll find a gas grill and a patio table.

And no matter the season, guests can spend their evenings gazing at the stars and soothing their sore limbs in the private outdoor hot tub.

Between the one bedroom and the quaint loft space, this cabin can accommodate as many as six guests. The main floor has a bedroom with a queen bed and a full bathroom with a large stall shower. Just beyond the ladder is the upstairs loft, where you'll find two twin beds with trundles and a half-bath.

Additional amenities include a queen-size sleeper sofa in the living room and a private washer and dryer for your wet and snowy outdoor clothes.

Whether you're a winter sports enthusiast or in search of summer fun on the lake, Carnelian Bay is a wonderful home base in North Lake Tahoe. Play a round at the Old Brockway Golf Course three miles east or spend a day on the water with Reel-Lentless Fishing Charters. Each winter, you'll find more than 170 ski runs, 16 bowls, and four terrain parks to keep you busy at the world-famous Squaw Valley.

Enjoy a vacation in the Sierras full of alpine style and comfort - this Carnelian Bay home will give you the getaway you've been waiting for!

About Vacasa, CA - Lake Tahoe Office

Thanks for considering a Vacasa home! We provide full-service management for privately owned vacation homes, and like to think that we offer our guests the best of both worlds: the unique experience of staying in a one-of-a-kind vacation home, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the home you book for your special vacation is cared for by professional housekeepers and property managers.

Vacasa began in 2009, simply because our founder and CEO Eric wanted to find a better way to share his wife’s family’s summer home in Long Beach, Washington with guests as a vacation rental. Eric and his early team worked to build Vacasa on the premise that local employees can do what they love most (taking care of guests, homeowners, and properties), while the hands-off tasks of vacation rental management—things like marketing, filing taxes, and maintaining a website—could be handled by a specialized central support team.

Our passion is connecting travelers with the unique experience of staying in a vacation home, and we would be honored to be your host. Please contact us with any questions about this home—our team is standing by!

Charming A-Frame

  • 4 of 5

Location, overall rustic ambiance, and amenities were great! Bring a sleep mask if you are a light sleeper, the lack of curtains will have you up with the sun! Would stay here again!

Cozy and good location but old

  • 3 of 5

We really enjoyed the cabin due to the fireplace, cozy, atmosphere and location! The building is old obviously, therefore there were a lot of creeks, the refrigerator did not work (I did not contact management however so did not give them the opportunity to fix it) and there was no privacy. There are no blinds in the bedroom, or any room in the house, therefore we felt like neighbors could watch our every move.

Also, if I had booked this property through Vacasa rather than VRBO I would have saved more money which I did not know about until it was too late.

Cramped house with dust bunnies on the floor and lipstick marks on cups. Avoid.

  • 2 of 5

This was not the best experience. It would have been acceptable if the house was clean -- then it would just have been cramped and missing curtains (= wake up at dawn whether you like to or not). And if you are average height or close to it, it is hard to use the upstairs bathroom.

But the house was filthy. Small rocks and dust bunnies on the floor, thick cob webs in every corner, dried oatmeal on spoons, and lipstick marks on mugs. We were quite disgusted.

As we alerted the manager of the property, we were told we'd get a discount on the cleaning. Which seemed like the least to expect. In the end, though, there was just silence, and no refund.

We will not come back here, and advise you to avoid this place, too.

Not a great cabin.

  • 2 of 5

The lower floor is ok, the upper floor cramped. No blinds = you will wake up at dawn. Unless the cleaning staff is replaced, you will start your visit by cleaning up.

Close to all

  • 5 of 5

Very Close to Tahoe City and King.

Off the main road but far enough so really quite to sleep all windows open in the summer time

Perfect A frame home with a lot of Charm to the place.

Neighbors were friendly and welcoming

Perfect week vacation in the Summer Time - we will come back

It could have been cleaner, but the hot tub was great.

  • 3 of 5

when we arrived the upstairs was not cleaned. Sheets and pillows on the floor. We had to change the linens and make the beds. Also, mouse traps in the main bedroom over a hole in the floor. We covered the hole with a statuette. The house is a block away from the lake, but there is no access. You have to drive about a mile to get to the nearest lake entry. The hot tub was the highlight. Hot and clean.
