Refurbished 2 bedroom 1700’s stone cottage
About Jane Buckham
We live in the village and love it so much here we purchased this additional property on retirement to let out to visitors. We love walking and can often be found with our Labrador Inka either up on the moors or in Chatsworth Park.
Jane Buckham purchased this House in 2017
Why Jane Buckham chose Baslow
This property has so many charming features, yet we’ve modernised it sympathetically so it should feel home from home. Although only round the corner from one of the two village pubs it is away from their entrance and car park so you are not disturbed.
What makes this House unique
The location is so picturesque and yet so convenient for ambling along to any Chatsworth event. There’s also a rear yard with table, chairs and BBQ for those lazy summer evenings, with a family living/ eating area internally as well as a sitting room.

Renting Brook Cottage Baslow
Hi just returned from a great break in Brook Cottage at Baslow. Great location on the edge of Chatsworth. A very well equipped dwelling, decorated well and clean. Just a couple of minor downside points. The upstairs lounge just didn’t seem comfy I preferred the room downstairs and would of appreciated softer chairs, I appreciate it is small. The second point was the stereo, just seemed very outdated this day and age.
We both enjoyed the stay and would definitely book again
Perfect for Chatsworth Park
Lovely cottage! Had a great stay - the owner even added a cot for our 5 month old so it was exactly what we needed. Had some great walks and trips to Bakewell and Buxton. Brilliant first family holiday
The cottage is in a lovely location and provides all equipment you can need for a great stay and so close to Chatsworth House and Park
Family of four, five day stay.
The cottage is well proportioned over three floors, we found the kitchen to have everything we needed for preparing good breakfasts and basic meals. The adjoining room had a nice little table to eat at and good space for all the fleeces and boots etc. On the second floor the bathroom is huge and bright. On the same level a snug with tv (Amazon prime) was well used in the evening with the kids 11 and 9 getting good use out of it when chilling in the evening. Two smart bedrooms, very comfy beds make up the top floor.
The local area is really convenient with two food/pubs, a cafe, sweet shop within a couple of minutes walk. A path to Chatsworth House is almost outside your door and three edges within a walkable distance. When we did take the car we found everywhere within a very reasonable drive . The parking at the cottage was also fine. This is is the first time we have rented a cottage and it beat our expectations easily. A really lovely place.
I had a wonderful stay at this property. It is perfectly located in Baslow, just a short walk away into Chatsworth and a starting point for numerous other walks . The property is thoughtfully and tastefully designed, cosy, clean and comfortable. It is small but I was alone and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. I hope it is available the next time I visit Baslow because I would love to stay there again.
Walking In Chatsworth
Fantastic location and very clean. We would like to have had a comfy place to sit downstairs while preparing food and socializing. The technology in the cottage is a little dated and unreliable. The internet is fine , but the free-view TV , DVD player and Technics sound system could do with an upgrade.
If these things were addressed we would not hesitate to return
Multiple stately homes within 30 minutes drive.
