Really Nice 3BR Castillo Townhouse by the Golf Course

Moab Townhome Rental Photos and Description

3BR/2BA Townhouse w/Hot Tub on Moab Golf Course

*note: The "instant quote" does not include the cleaning fee for a 2-night minimum stay. There is NO cleaning fee for a stay of 3 or more nights.

*note: We are a little old-fashioned. We ONLY use VRBO as a listing service. We pay an annual fee for that. We do NOT use VRBO's booking system or payment services. We prefer to communicate directly with our guests, without charging the added fees of online booking. Most quotes on the website are close enough, or too high, but go to the rate chart to be sure. Despite what the website is telling you, WE ALWAYS ANSWER EVERY INQUIRY. We will respond directly to you.

Exclusive, well-maintained, nicely decorated three bedroom, two bath townhouse in the best neighborhood, surrounded by red rocks, and beautifully situated on the Moab Golf Course.

If you are longing for a relaxing getaway from the maddening crowd (this is NOT another RIM condo), our townhouse complex has ONLY 18 well cared for units (six buildings). Our pool is not overcrowded. Lots of beautiful landscaping and cool grass. Castillo is the most family-friendly (safe for kids) place to stay. Our location is a quiet residential neighborhood on the east side of the valley, as far as you can get from highway on the west side of the valley. You can walk out your door, up the end of the road past petroglyphs, along the east side of the golf course and into the redrock of the Mill Creek Rim, where the Steelbender trailhead swichbacks down into Mill Creek Canyon. The views are breathtaking. Winter sun on our side of the valley till 5 o'clock.

Walled back patio with natural gas Barbecue and an expanse of lawn like you never see in a townhouse project. The eastern exposure on the patio means sun in the cool mornings and shade in the hot late afternoon. Pet friendly, well dogs anyway, two at the most. Non smoking unit. El-shaped community pool and changing room.

Can be coordinated with other Castillo townhouses,.. listings #271921, #394743, #98352, #426164, #179498, #783406 for family reunions and larger groups.

(PS... Lisa and I lived in our Castillo 3BR for ten years. Michelle, one of our closest friends, asked us to manage the rental of her unit in 2008, and we have been doing it ever since. We have also taken on the management of six more Castillo townhouses for our friends/neighbors, and like so many Castillo owners, she plans to retire here. Our friends love their condos and we love our friends, so we take care of the condos as if they were all our own. Castillo de las Rocas completed a major remodel last year, new roofs and stucco,.. This is a great place to stay, but the best feature of all is our location. It really is the best location of any of the town homes in the immediate Moab area. In town and along the highway on the west side of the valley are lots of nice vacation rentals, but they are in the midst of the hubbub. Our neighborhood is the quietest. I urge people to get out into the 'back of beyond”, but if you don’t have time to disappear into a forgotten canyon with backpack and MRE’s, this place has all the comforts of home, and it’s one of the few locations you can literally walk out your door, up the road, and into a place and a time out of mind.

A Realistic Review, ( without photos):

  • 5 of 5

This review follows our recent one month stay in #85324, it was our third in same place. Each visit was between four to eight weeks. The three bedroom home was absolutely perfect for our needs and those of family and friends. Location super, quiet, safe, and the best hiking right out the front door, that didn't always please my wife but she tagged along anyway. The home is cozy, very clean and has everything that is needed. The rooms are adequate for your needs, especially a very large master bedroom, comfortable sitting areas in this room and the main family space. The home has always been well stocked for your everyday needs. Lisa and Rob, who manage the property really make it work, they are attentive and are quick to respond to any issue that might arise. The refrigerator, same our three visits, was making an unusual amount of noise and had several shelves in need of repair on the door. After my wife made an off hand commend to Lisa about the refrigerator, it was replaced by a new one two days later. Don't find service like that everyday. My wife and I would strongly recommend this spot for weekends, a week or more. I would like to add, if you stay in Moab as look as we have it's a son of a gun place to leave. Don't hesitate to discuss your visit with Lisa and Rob, they are charming and honest. I want to be upfront, I have read the last review from September of 2014 and would dismiss it as totally unreasonable. Angry, unhappy people do exist. One would think that the landscape and wilderness of Moab would help, unfortunately not in this case. That review belongs in the trash. And I have no affiliation with Lisa and Rob other then a tenant. Same place next Fall Yippie!

Dirty and more

  • 1 of 5

When we returned from our road trip I sent the property manager the following message. The message included photos which I can not post here. I sent the e-mail three weeks ago and have not received a response.

"Drinking glasses were disgusting. These came out of the cupboard (photo) and one led to another in the same condition." "Upstairs bath faucet (photo) was not clean." "The carpet was stained(photo) in several areas both downstairs and upstairs. Walking shoeless on the floors was out of the question. The condition of the tile (photo) throughout appeared to be very dirty and in desperate need of refinishing." "Inoperative blinds (upstairs bedroom and stairs landing)." "Dirty electrical plates" “Screaming” upstairs toilet plumbing when flushed." "Dial missing from “Fresh Food” temperature setting inside refrigerator. My husband scraped, and drew blood, his hand on the exposed mechanism." "This unit is suffering from a lot of deferred maintenance. It was the worst rental stay we have ever experienced."

Owner's Response: We have never had a bad review from any of our guests, not one. The couple who sent this scathing review, stayed here three nights the end of September, and sent their nasty email a week later. We specifically request that guests should contact us for any reason at all. We are minutes away, and truly aim to please. They never contacted us while they were here. When we read the email, we were flabbergasted. It is so mean, and so wrong. I didn’t know how to respond. This litany of niggling complaints that have little or no justifiable reason for notice, much less as a treatise against “the worst rental stay we have ever experienced.” She had nothing positive to say at all, and the complaints are absurd. Hard water marks on some glasses and an upstairs faucet? Dirty tile? The “tile” are Saltillo,.. a multi-colored sun-baked terra-cotta with discoloations and imperfections that are part of their charm, and are used in a lot of earthy, pueblo style homes of the southwest (and ours are damp-mop cleaned routinely as they should be). Carpet stains? There is one hard to get out stain on the upstairs landing that we have used the carpet cleaner on a half dozen times (that keeps coming back), but the carpets are all just a couple years old, better than those originally installed, and are in great shape. The “inoperative” blinds all work perfectly if you know how to operate them,.. they are also practically new, the strings and springs and pulleys are all internal, they simply raise and lower by lifting the lever attached to the bottom rail. “Screaming upstairs toilet?”,.. really? “Dirty electrical plates?" "Dial inside refrigerator missing?” VRBO recommends that we contact the guest directly if we get a review that we feel is not accurate or justified, and get them to withdraw and write another review,.. but how do you respond to a person like the one that sent this review? Who comes to one of the most spectacular and spiritually grounding places on Earth, stays in a beautiful, well-appointed townhouse in the perfect location, and then a week after the fact, rages about minute imperfections she noticed and has built up in her own mind, then three weeks later writes a scathing review of the property on the website when she doesn’t get a response? She is clearly angry at the world and trying to pick a fight. I didn’t know how to respond to her email at first, and I don’t know how to talk to her now. (That's all I get,.. see my "PS...")

Worked Great for Us

  • 5 of 5

We found the townhome to meet all our expectations. Clean, fully stocked, enclosed patio and access to plenty of walking areas (both grassy and sandy) for our goldens. The location outside of town was not a disadvantage as it was quiet and frankly about a 5-minute drive down the hill to the main road. Thank you Rob and Lisa for all your helpful tips which made our stay in Moab very enjoyable. Since it did snow a bit we didn't get to enjoy the pool but the cooler climate and beautiful blue sky meant we could take the dogs with us to Arches and Canyonlands and not worry about leaving them in the car while we did our sightseeing around two of America's national parks. We feel very fortunate to have located this listing and hope to return soon!

Outstanding Pet Friendly Townhouse in Moab

  • 5 of 5

I can't say enough good things about this townhouse. We have stayed in other Moab locations and this was far and away our favorite. It was very clean and had everything that we needed for a comfortable vacation in Moab. The location is close enough to town but away from all the noise and congestion. We really enjoyed the more private setting of the patio (and deck) that other townhomes do not offer. The grass is another huge benefit if you have pets and or kids that want to play outside. Not many places in town have a huge lawn to enjoy.

The owners are very responsive to all e-mails and booking requests. Very easy to deal with and make the ideal vacation. They have also outfitted the townhouse with all the necessary toiletries and other general items. While I didn't come to Moab to watch TV, it was nice to have cable when the weather turned south for a day or two.....

If you have never been to Moab, go and enjoy. It offers something for everyone. This townhouse is the perfect destination for any and all trips into the area.

Fantastic place to stay in Moab!!!

  • 5 of 5

We go to Moab annually and have always had an RV. This year we no longer have our RV and we were still wanting to get to Moab. We decided to try a condo as we were planning to meet friends and figured we could all stay together. What a great plan!! I looked for a condo with 3 bedrooms for adults (and this one has a king and 2 queens, plus other beds if you need them). We were able to have 3 couples all have privacy and still hang out together. We loved the roof deck for looking at the sunset on the cliffs and the gas grill on the back patio for after trail eating. The house was immaculate. It was totally stocked with everything one would need for a vacation in Moab. The garage was great, as we could store our doors while we hit the trails. Comfy, homey, can't wait to come again! Thanks!
