Bask in St John's natural beauty from this relaxing 3 bedroom home overlooking the harbor of Coral Bay. Listen to the island's melody as you unwind at Coral Rhapsody.
The house is conveniently located at the end of a private and well maintained road. Only a short drive to the beautiful North and South Shore beaches, less than a 1/2 mile to grocery stores, restaurants, and shopping in Coral Bay, and a 25 minute drive to Cruz Bay. It's a perfect retreat after enjoying all that St John has to offer.
Coral Rhapsody is a comfortable and spacious house featuring wraparound porches from both of its upper and lower levels. Upstairs offers a well appointed kitchen, large dining and living area, and master bedroom. Downstairs are 2 bedrooms, 1 with a queen size bed and the other with 2 twin beds.
We loved this house! First, I have to mention that Catherine was a pleasure to work with. I was a lillte nervous about sending checks instead of using PayPal or the credit card, but it turned out to be just fine. Catherine was very responsive to all my questions and was always accessible if we needed anything. The house has been just recently remodeled and has a great, new feel. The furnishings are new and high quality. The kitchen had everything we needed. The bedrooms had AC, which was great for the hot August nights. The best part for us was the porch! The view is to die for, and, even in the hottest hours, there were cool breezes on the portch. The beaches are within 5-10 min drive. We stocked up with groceries on St. Thomas and used the little grocery shop down in Coral Bay for necessities. It worked out well for us. Beach chairs, beach towels, and mosquito repellent were all provided, which was a nice little touch.
We would definitely stay there again and highly recommend this house to others! Thanks, Catherine!
When we first entered the property, we were amazed at just how spacious the home was. Of course, we had looked at all of the photographs on the property listing, but these photographs did not convey the true sense of expansiveness the home greeted us with. Simply put: This place is BIG!
Our party consisted of four adults and two children, and not once did we feel crowded in. We cooked almost all of our meals here and relaxed on the deck in the evenings. From time to time, we would remark to one another, "I can't believe this is actually real - we are here - soaking all of this in."
Our daylight hours were spent at various beaches (such as Miss Vie's, Salt Pond, Francis Bay, etc.) Plus, we often stopped back home for lunch, since the home was quick and easy to get to.
While this was not our first time to St. John, it was our first time to rent a house. We are spoiled now, and I cannot imagine going back to a hotel or resort.
Coral Rhapsody was perfect for my wife and I during our stay on St. John. The views of Coral Bay and the surrounding mountains were spectacular. The location near Coral Bay were very convenient to everything. The hillside villa is quiet and peaceful. Somehow my morning coffee tasted better on the huge wrap around porch.
We didn't use the lower level, but there were two bedrooms and a large bath downstairs for a larger family or group. Both levels have a large deck, and the views from the upstairs wrap around is amazing. The evening breezes while relaxing in a hammock were enjoyable. The singing birds and hungry donkey that shared some of my bananas were fun to have around.
Overall a perfect location for our time there. We went to the beaches early to relax and snorkel, caught some happy hours and dinner in both Cruz and Coral Bay in the afternoons, and then spent our evenings relaxing on the porch.
Clark recommended Oasis Restaurant down the hill, and the southern comfort food hit the spot. Miss Lucy's, Miss Vie's, and Skinny Legs were all nearby and open during the slower summer season. We brought steaks over from St. Thomas in our rental jeep as I like to grill, but I think Love City market in nearby Coral Bay has most of what you need for day to day. There are too many beaches to recommend, but we loved Francis, Miss Vie's, Solomon, Gibney, Maho and Jumby. The snorkeling was great at Waterlemon Cay (you name it, we saw it) and I enjoyed snorkeling with two very large turtles at Francis..
Our family of 5 enjoyed Christmas in St. John this year and the Coral Rhapsody was a perfect place to stay. It was even better than we expected from the listing. We particularly enjoyed the deck, the hammock was in almost constant use when we were at the house! I did not realize the importance of flat parking until I saw some of the driveways on the island - but really appreciated it after going up the steep climb to get to the house. We loved being on a quiet part of the island and were able to enjoy a variety of incredible beaches and restaurants near by easily. I would definitely recommend this property.
My husband and I stayed at coral rhapsody for 5 glorious weeks. The villa is amazing! Very large open living area with a huge wrap around deck on both the upper and lower levels. The view of coral bay is outstanding. The kitchen had just been renovated, all appliances were new. In total the villa has 3 bedrooms, and 2.5 baths...the lower level has a private entrance and is actually like a separate apartment with 2 bedrooms and a full bath.
Kathy and Clark, the property managers were great, taking us to and from the ferry and giving us all sorts of valuable tips throughout our stay.
Visit the organic farm in Coral bay which sells vegetables.
All the beaches are gorgeous and the restaurants are great as well.
Beware that the driveway to the villa is very steep, you will need 4 wheels drive.. We were able to rent a used vehicle from the property managers, not sure if this is an option.
I would highly recommend coral rhapsody , it's comfortable, spacious, very welcoming.
I wish there was a 4.5 star ranking because that is what I would prefer to give. My family (which includes two teenagers and a grandma) really enjoyed staying at Coral Rhapsody!!! From the very beginning, our vacation experience was very positive. The property managers were friendly and extremely responsive. Overall, the house was clean, comfortable and very homey (yet nothing really extravagant). It had everything we needed. But I have to say the best part of the house was the deck -- the deck furniture was very comfortable and the view from there was amazing! We also enjoyed the donkeys that visited the property a couple of the evenings. A 4-wheel-drive jeep is a must for getting up the steep driveway. Our only criticism was some of the furniture, particularly the living room furniture, was a bit worn and dated--but that wasn't too much of a big deal for my family because we spent most of our time (and meals) on the deck looking at the amazing view!
