About Mandy

After a career in theatre, specifically ballet, I saw sailing the Ionian Islands as a new and very contrasting challenge! Lucky to do this as an employee of an established holiday group a 'one summer job' turned into a 23 year career in ensuring clients enjoyed holidays full of special memories. My greatest reward is to see the pleasure I can bring by adding small thoughtful details that make a difference to a guests holiday experience. I can continue to do this with our apartment, for our special guests, while enjoying a slower pace of life outside of the mainstream holiday industry.

Mandy purchased this apartment in 2011

Why Mandy chose Greece

With mountains and farmland, sea and islands this area is so unique. The absolute peacefulness of the village defies the possibility of stress! The flat waters of the bay, with small beaches and rocky coastline, make exploring by SUP boarding, or sail/motor boating a dream, in summer and winter, and I will never tire of peering down into the clear, blue waters from my board or looking out across the bay after hiking to the hill tops behind the village!

What makes this apartment unique

Planned as a place for family and friends to stay primarily, the apartment is set up as a home full of comfort. It suits a niche where high quality is desired for couples or small families. While the surrounding is quaint and traditional the apartment is modern with excellent fittings and style. The location, away from tour groups, allows true discovery of Greek life, but is in easy reach of year round activities and charmed places.

Pristine, Peaceful and Perfect.

  • 5 of 5

Myself and 2 others stayed in the accommodation for a total of 7 nights and we could not have been happier. Mandy was warm and welcoming, making sure everything was OK and comfortable throughout our stay. The house was equipped with more than enough furnishings and utensils. The kitchen was stocked with food. Toiletries and fresh lines and towels were provided upon arrival. The balcony and surrounding area of the property was quiet and peaceful, really nothing to fault.

We ate out in restaurants and cooked in the property throughout our visit. Many beautiful local restaurants with fresh fish of the day, freshly baked bread from the bakery every morning was delightful.

I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a stay in Greece off the beaten track. With the small but busy town of Paleros 10 minutes drive away it had everything we needed. For our first time in Greece, this really set a high standard. We have travelled on this kind of holiday many times over the years and this was defiantly one of the most comfortable properties we have rented, it really was pristine.

Beaches were to die for also!

Thank you Mandy for a great holiday.

Immaculately clean and impeccably presented.

  • 5 of 5

My family regularly rent apartments and villas for our holidays as we love the independence. However you usually spend the first day struggling with minimal provisions and the next shopping for items that you only use a fraction of. No such problem here! Mandy had filled the cupboards and fridge with EVERYTHING you could ever need. From washing powder to condiments all had been thought of. This made living in the immaculately clean and impeccably presented apartment an absolute joy.

The apartment is in a small complex which has been very thoughtfully designed and landscaped. There is a lovely shared pool with comfortable and stylish sun loungers. Our preference however was to take the short walk to the secluded beach. Mandy provided rush mats and a beach bag to carry them down to the pebbly bay. We swam there morning and evening. The water is crystal clear and refreshing. You can swim around the bay or just sit and watch the sunset.

We did a lot of sight seeing further afield but we also explored most of the towns along the local coastline and found they all had something to offer. We enjoyed every second of our week and found this apartment was an excellent base.

Thank you Mandy - you really did think of everything!

Fantastische Wohnung!

  • 5 of 5

Splendid apartment, great location/ambience

  • 5 of 5

Family of three (wife and I and our twenty-three year old son) spent 12 nights here. We cannot speak highly enough about the apartment or the kindliness of the owners and the surrounding village community. Mandy looks after you really well! This was our 38th visit to Greece and in many ways the area was like stepping back into a place we love but thought we had lost, and we mean that in all the most positive ways, whilst at the same time being able to enjoy the delights of a new apartment equipped to the gills with everything we needed and with modern and extremely comfortable furniture and decor throughout. An April visit to Greece is not the right time to make use of the pool, although it was available if wanted, but in every other sense it is a brilliant time to visit this beautiful area of Greece and the apartment price at this time of year is exceptional value for money. We enjoyed wonderful mountain scenery & walking (without overheating,) great birdwatching with inidigenous and migrating species, archeological sites are quiet and a joy to explore, nearby Lefkada Island is fun to visit and you can drive to it over a pontoon bridge 'causeway', plus if you are keen on touring you can pack in some great longer distance trips, as we did, to Parga, ancient Dodona, the Souliot hills (some great hill walks up there), Arta (to visit the famous bridge), and Messolonghi (where Lord Byron died while supporting the Greek war of independence), plus more local trips to delightful Mytikas on the coast, (with good hill walks above as well), excellent birdwatching around the Amvrakikos Gulf, visits to Roman Nikopolis (founded by Augustus after defeating Anthony & Cleopatra's forces at the battle of Actium, the ancient Greek sanctuary of the Nekromaneion, plus there are many fabulous old castles, monasteries and churches to visit. Or you can just have an east day relaxing at the apartment with its super main balcony as well as side balconies directly accessed from each of its two good-sized bedrooms, the main bedroom of which is en suite. Lounge seating is comfortable, the kitchen is fantastically equipped for self-catering plus if you do decide to go out the "Rhapsodia" psistaria we visited twice is one of the best places to eat locally sourced succulent meat that we have ever experienced, made even more enjoyable by the friendliness and generosity of the proprietors & their local customers. Excellent supermarket, shops & full in Paleiros (4kms). Loved it all!

Amazing Place!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I just left this magical place and are already planning our return! What an amazing gem. If you're looking for tranquil Greece, look no further. We arrived and were greeted by Mandy with such a warm welcome! The apartment is spotless and incredibly well appointed with everything you could ever need. The views from the balcony off the bedroom are amazing. We loved every minute. The pool is lovely with sweet smelling blooming jasmine and a great outdoor shower. We really enjoyed our 5 min walk into the village for delicious fresh treats from the bakery while meeting the occasional donkey or chicken on the road or the 2 min walk down to the waterside. The local grill restaurant was outstanding and 2 mins from the apartment! The owners make the most amazing food, we loved it so much we went multiple times. Don't miss the fried peppers! They began to know us and just starting bringing food without us even ordering. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. They treated us like family, don't miss it. Our days were filled with sunshine, greek coffee and memories to die for, including secluded beaches (some with local cows), warm swims in the Med and sunshine. So much to explore and so much more to do next time we go. I highly recommend this divine gem. Enjoy!

Fun in the Greek Sun

  • 5 of 5

The Olive apartment is everything that it is advertised to be, comfortable, convenient, very light and airy spaces. The location for us was perfect. The surrounding areas are quiet & tranquil, adjacent apartments were quiet, local restaurant is very close with friendly owners and delicious food.

We stayed 5 days, Mandy met us right away, she even had some provisions for us.

It is a charming place with all modern conveniences and very well maintained, we did not cook much, however the kitchen is perfect for preparing any size meal.

The balcony's were our favorite spot as our weather was wonderful, it was cool enough so we did not use the air con, once you open the doors there is a nice breeze to keep cool, another great feature are the roller shutters on the windows, that keep the bedrooms nice & dark @ night, and allow you to keep a breeze coming though the apartment by leaving the windows open. The beds are very comfortable and the showers are excellent.

There is a TV but we did not use it much.

We really enjoyed eating at the local restaurant, our phrase book came in very handy, and it was fun observing the local men cooking together.

The pool is very well maintained and the loungers were very comfortable

The Bakery was another favorite, gotta get up early to get the fresh bread and tasty Feta cheese pies.

We drove around quite a bit, visited Lefkas Island, Lefkas Town is a great stop for a coffee and ouzo, also visited Nidri, great for a Gyro and some knock off handbags, and Poros Beach, a little bit secluded but worth the drive.

We drove north of Preveza to find some great beaches, and south to Mitikas which is a quiet fishing town, but has some great local eating spots.

So whether you want a relaxing, get away from it all time, or a base to do day trips from, the Olive apartment is the perfect place for all.

We would highly recommend the Olive apartment to anyone who wants a great Greek experience, and we can't wait to return.

The local shoreline has shallow and warm water, with rocky outcrops and an interesting coastline which is perfect for Swimming & Snorkeling. The surrounding beaches are suitable for Windsurfing, Kite surfing, SUP boarding & Dinghy sailing, with calm clear seas in the morning and an offshore breeze which picks up in the afternoon. From the apartment there are many routes for Walking, Hiking and Mountain biking.

The beautiful Islands of Meganisi and Kalamos are in view and only 16 km away The adjacent town of Palairos offers Yacht, Motor boat & Speed boat daily hires. It also has a good choice of beach front Tavernas and Bars. The lake north of the bay is a protected wetland that attracts seasonal migratory birds, with many Ancient sites and Castles the area has a fascinating history and much to explore.

The local market town of Levkas Island, (which is accessed via a bridge), is lively and bustling. It has many bars & restaurants and a thriving nightlife. Away from the coastline tradition survives and a more sedate pace of life continues as it has for centuries.

Update May 2015. A low cost airline now fly's into our local airport of Preveza (PVK), from London Gatwick, making access both easier and cheaper to this region.
