About Paul and Anna Slade
Hello, my name is Paul. My wife Anna and I have lived in the area for 25 years and have 3 teenage children. Having both been born in Devon, we have enjoyed the wonderful countryside the area has to offer, which inspired us to keep sheep, chickens and ducks. Both Anna and I have horticultural backgrounds, being a landscape gardener and florist by trade. We have designed and built a number of properties including cider barn, coach house, school and more recently an oak framed log cabin which we now live in. This then inspired us to build a south facing, cedar clad, glass fronted lodge which has spectacular views, making full use of the sun. So come and join us for a wonderful holiday in this unique location – you will never want to leave!
Paul and Anna Slade purchased this House in 2005
Why Paul and Anna Slade chose Exeter
The property is surrounded by mature trees and is adjoining Woodbury Commons. This allows us to take lovely long walks over the heathland where nightingales and the Dartford worblers can be seen. We are centrally located which makes it easy to reach the sea at Budliegh Salterton and Exmouth as well as Sidmouth, and only 10 minutes to Exeter. There are wonderful views of Dartmoor and Exeter which can be seen from the lodge. The site enjoys sunshine all day long as it is south facing and very sheltered. The site is quiet and removed from the
What makes this House unique
The property is quiet, private and secure. We have 7 acres of land and keep sheep, ducks and chickens. We can sit peacefully beside our wildlife pond which is home to ducks, coots, dragonflies and danselflies, as well as carp and tench. With so much available locally such as pubs, farm shops, the beach and other tourist attractions, we can offer a place to escape either after a busy day or just relaxing in the front garden soaking up the sun.

Beautiful and comfortable property
On arrival Paul was there to meet us and was extremely welcoming and showed us around this gorgeous high quality well equipped house. Unfortunately our stay was too short but will definitely stay again. Thanks Paul.
Beautiful house, lovely location.
A stunning house full of individual character. Lots of little touches which were very much appreciated, bottle of prosecco on arrival and a large punnet of cherries. Paul is the perfect host and very welcoming on arrival. Wholeheartedly recommended for a luxury holiday property in a great location. Local pub, Halfway Inn is great for a meal and there is a regular bus service straight into Exeter or Sidmouth. We’ll be back, I’m sure!
Stunning property filled with character.
Beautiful property in peaceful surroundings . We enjoyed touring round south and east Devon but coming back to this beautiful property each night . Everything you could possibly need for a home away from home .
Excellent accomodation, peaceful surroundings
We recently had a weeks break here. Perfect for relaxing, located in a quiet rural aspect. Paul was so helpful in all aspects regarding places of interest and local amenities. Accommodation was first class, spacious, clean and all necessary equipment provided. Highly recommended.
Fabulous property and a very warm welcome from Paul
The house was beautiful and stands out in quality from many other rentals we’ve stayed in. Paul was warm and welcoming and provided lots of local information.
The children particularly enjoyed the garden swing and fishing in the small pond.
Good location for exploring both the beaches and countryside.
We’d be very happy to visit again.
Fantastic family retreat in glorious countryside
We used Magnolia Lodge during the run up to my wedding. The lodge is stunning, fitted out with high end and comfortable oak furnishings throughout, surrounded by the lush Devon countryside, its the perfect place to get away from it all as a couple or family. Every person in our party loved this place from my little cousins to my parents. Everyone who came to help with the wedding prep was asking how they could rent out the lodge! The open plan living downstairs is ideal for entertaining and family meals. You are near to Exeter, Budleigh and Topsham and there are many things to do in the area. Hopefully we will be back soon. Thank you Paul and Anna!
