About Cheryl McKettrick
I purchased this home in January of 2006. I am from Detroit, currently living just outside of Cincinnati - It sounds a little crazy unless you've been to the Cape and Eastham in particular.
Cheryl McKettrick purchased this House in 2006
Why Cheryl McKettrick chose Eastham
Eastham is beautiful, quiet, peaceful, and surrounded by water. I am the 2nd owner of this wonderful property. I bought it from a retiring local school teacher. No kidding. Of course, the Cape gives you access to bay beaches and ocean beaches. But Eastham has the entrance to the National Seashore! Eastham is also an easy point for day trips up or down the Cape to explore different cities. Eastham beaches are the best and with the most variety. Plus it is an easy jump point for exploring. I love it and you will too!
What makes this House unique
The house is quiet, private, and in the woods. The road out front is barely traveled. After a long day at the beach it is a respite to return to. Laying in bed at night with all the windows open and listening to the sound of the leaves gently rustle can make you feel a million miles away from real life. Here I really relax and recharge my soul. Enjoy an early morning bike ride or run. A full day on the beach. Drinks watching the sunset. Dinner on the back deck. And laying in bed listening to the wind blow. It's a simple life but isn't that what vacation is for?

Extremely Rusty Water
This house was perfect for what we were looking for - a place to rest our heads at night. With 3 young kids, we definitely weren't looking for a mansion for our summer vacation. This is a great location if you want to spend time at the beach. We bought a season pass to the National Seashore and went everyday (so it paid for itself after the 3rd day). My only complaint, and unfortunately it is a big one, is the water at the house. Previous reviews said this is "typical of the Cape," but after checking with others in the area, the problem at this house is definitely rare. You CANNOT drink the water. It is so rusty that the shower smells like blood. We RUINED all of our clothes and towels in the washing machine as they are now completely (and permanently) stained orange (and smell like vomit). My cuticles even turned orange from doing dishes and showers. For that reason alone, we won't be returning to the house. It's a shame. Thanks!
We have rented many houses and this house is the most well-equipped. It has everything. The area is quiet, the house was spacious, and we didn't want for anything. Love Arnold's, The Barn, and of course the beaches. The water has lots of iron, so you just have to be sure to buy bottled water but it is expected at the Cape. Thanks for a great vacation.
Thanks for your comments Stephanie! I'm delighted that you enjoyed my house on the Cape. I hope to hear from you next year.
My husband and I rented this property for our Cape Cod vacation and were thrilled with our choice. We have stayed in Chatham the previous 3 years and wanted to try something new. We found we did more this year being so centrally located to both the bay and ocean beaches. The home was just perfect, clean and very well supplied.
We loved the privacy and the yard was beautiful.
Great house close to bike path
We had a wonderful 2 week stay! The best part was that bikes were included and the house is so close to the bike path. We biked to the beach everyday with our 2 year old, either First Encounter or Nauset Light. We could take the Cape Cod Rail Trail and then connect to the Nauset Bike Trail to get to the National Seashore or just take the Rail Trail to Somerset Road and then it was a short ride to First Encounter. It was great to have the choice of the bayside or national seashore beaches without having to get in a car. The house was fully stocked and the backyard was private while at the same time we were only a 5 minute car ride away from the Orleans Stop & Shop. I recommend this house for a great Cape Cod vacation.
Great Cape Location!
Location Location!! My husband and I had a great stay in a fantastic location, just a short drive to our favorite Nauset Beach. We took a short drive to Harwichport for a day trip to Nantucket. There are so many wonderful places to explore nearby and the house has everything you could need! We had a great stay. Thank you!
Kate - I'm delighted that you had a wonderful vacation on the Cape. Thanks for taking time to provide your comments. I hope to hear from you next summer! Take Care, Cheryl
