The main bedroom has a bath and the second a shower. The downstairs utility and cloakroom room has a washing machine and toilet. A very cozy winter let with a highly efficient airsource heat pump.
The Hayloft and Courage Cottage are two detached barn conversions situated in an historic Georgian farmyard. They are both totally individual and are situated in a very quiet, rural setting. The local village of Winterborne St Martin has a pub and excellent farm shop: both with restaurants. Dorchester is 2 miles away and has every facility including good rail connections in all directions.

Very peaceful with space for kids to play, a trampoline and outdoor pool. Also on site venue for weddings! Our second stay and we love it. Good location to visit Studland, Poole/Sandbank and Weymouth..
Richard the host was very accommodating and if there were any problems (e.g. the Wi-Fi stopped working) he sorted it straight away. Lovely quiet area and everything you could need in the accommodation. We were here for work and we will definitely stay again if in the area.
We booked to have our Wedding Ceremony and Reception at the Venue and with that, we booked to hire the cottages before and during the stay for us and some other guests. We cannot fault it. When you arrive here, the owners are so welcoming and you feel right at home. Our stay with Ashton Barn will remain some of the best few days and will always have a special place in our hearts. We are hoping to book again soon and revisit. The pictures do not do this place justice! Thank you again Richard & Marieke x :)
Enjoyed our stay!
Pros - location (near Jurassic coast, Dorchester and Waymouth), light and bright rooms, spacious living room and kitchen, comfortable winter heating, friendly owners.
Cons - bedding was heavily pilled due to a low thread count - quite uncomfortable for 14 nights (almost bought replacement sheets), horrible pillows (maybe a British thing), we needed to wash/clean out freezer draws - major defrosting is necessary, descriptive commentary on most TV channels (unable to turn off).
Location of barn was perfect and is as described so on these counts really couldn't be faulted however I have only graded it, very generously I think three out of five, it doesn't do halves else it would have been 21/2 because of it's other failings. On our arrival which was after four on a Sunday afternoon we had to spend over two hours cleaning the whole of the place until it was of a standard that we were happy with. To put it mildly it was very dirty. We were a party of two couples in our late 50's and were aware of the spiral staircase, though narrow didn't really cause a problem what did though was the bed in this room which had broken slats and was very noisy indeed. To alleviate the noise we even spent some time trying repairs which helped somewhat. The small shower in this room was filthy. The oven was so dirty we didn't even use it. After staying there a week the place was far cleaner when we left than when we arrived. To sum up a lovely place with great potential, just let down badly by the cleaning standards. Looking very tired for a place only three years old.
When we first saw this listing, we thought it was too good to be true but the reviews were good so we decided to trust them. Boy, we were so glad we did! What an amazing place! Spacious with all the necessary amenities and a pool to boot. So relaxing. Our kids just loved the place too. Sheeps, bunnies, chickens, and friendly dogs roaming around, we even had a herd of cows stroll by and say hi. It was also very close to the beach in Weymouth and close to Dorchester and grocery store. It was also nice being in a place where we didn't feel like we had to lock the doors. Even the wifi wasn't locked. :-)
Richard and Marieke were great hosts. We highly recommend this place (and have already to a few of our UK friends).
This quiet valley in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is located between Dorchester and Weymouth and therefore within easy reach of shops, restaurants museums and the numerous seaside activities available in and around Weymouth. The Abbotsbury Swannery and gardens are within easy reach as are many footpaths leading to the coast as well as the many remote beaches reached situated along the famous Jurassic Coastline which is a World Heritage Site. The properties are in the old farmyard and reached down a private road and therefore well away from traffic.
Golf: Several Golf courses within a few miles in stunning scenery
