Come and enjoy our vacation hideaway only 4 minutes from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Soak in the champagne ponds in Kapoho and visit the many climates of the big Island. Our 3 acre farm has a cabin and a remodeled bus running on 10 kW of solar power and batteries. We also have a generator for back up power, just in case. The bus and cabin both have a wood stove and the cabin is insulated. Full kitchen and bath with a washer and dryer. We recently added Internet. Password is on the modem.
Jungle Paradise, Secluded In The Jungle And Flowers, Very Peaceful and Romantic
What makes this Cabin unique
One of the great things about this property is that we are at 3400' and the nights are cooler and not too humid like it can be down in Hilo and near the beaches. There are also way less coqui frogs than down in Hilo and Kapoho. Our Host, Khadijah, offers private custom meals and massage services. She is an amazing and creative professional chef. Make your stay even more relaxing by having her help make your stay one that you and your family will never forget. You will meet her to get the key and code for the front gate, and she can help you with finding hidden gems on the island to explore during your stay.

great off-grid escape
Just a wonderful place. The main building is cozy and comfortable, and the bus is really fun also! It's quite secluded, and yet the amenities were great, and it's only a couple minutes off the main highway. Since it's off-grid one needs to be extra-careful to conserve energy - but whenever we ran out of power from the solar panels / batteries, we could just start up the generator and everything worked fine. Khadijah is fantastic - early on in the trip I lost the housekey and she took care of it immediately. I'd definitely go back!
Peaceful stay in Volcano
The cabin was very spacious for two people. It was a great place to relax after visiting the Hawaii Volcano National Park, Hilo, or other nearby places. So much better than a motel room. We ate out but were able to reheat leftovers for breakfast. Appreciated having wireless internet and Dish tv. The caretaker answered all questions promptly when contacted
Super cool place!
One of the highlights of our trip to the Big Island. Loved being so secluded and staying in such a unique place. We were bummed that the park was closed, but sleeping in a school filled that void!
Experience the island like the locals do
I cant believe how alive this island is. Just seeing the lava makes me feel like Im watching the pulse of the earth. Ive never experienced anything like it. Whats even better is that I dont have to return to a busy lobby, and restaurant. I live amongst the native trees and made some chicken friends that are awfully friendly. Never have I relaxed so quickly on a trip before. The home is clean, and the air is soo fresh that instantly calms the mind and have peace. Its a experience like no other.
Fun and Comfort in the "Jungle House"
Our arrival - and stay - at this Volcano Hideaway "Jungle House," was a welcome and fun change from our stay in busy Kona! The caretaker happened to be there when we arrived, and greeted us with open arms. She had the place ready for us and provided useful information for site-seeing, as well as giving us a quick run-through the place. As animal lovers, we were thrilled to be greeted by the 2 beautiful hens, and later, were surrounded with the nighttime sounds of coqui frogs. This is a unique "adventure" with all the comforts and economically and environmentally-mindful designed home. The bed is so, so comfortable; the type where one wants to linger just a bit longer. It's impossible to not get a thrill from the bus, which has plenty of extra sleeping options! Though it feels remote, it is close and convenient to the town of Volcano, and to Volcano National Park.
Off the beaten path but worth the hunt!
We had a couple of hiccups finding the place (GPS sent us the scenic route), but communication with the property manager was easy and the welcome was very warm once we got it all figured out. The place is both off the grid and out of the ordinary. The bus is a fun bedroom and the house is attractive and comfortable. The location couldn't be more convenient for the National Park. Go after dark and see the lava glow under the stars! Hilo is a short drive and we regret not spending some more time there. This is a wonderful opportunity to have a less touristy, more fun vacation and the price is an excellent value. A certain amount of self-reliance is needed but it's not difficult -- just not a luxury resort.
