Bright and Airy 100 sqm (1,000+ sq.ft.), recently renovated, second floor (lift accessible) apartment.

Sleeps 4+1 — 2 in a double room, 2 in a twin room, + Spare Fold-up bed,

Location: Our apartment offers a perfect base for exploring this great city. About 10 minutes’ walk from the river Danube – and within 5 minutes of parks, shops, and public transport this apartment is situated in a perfect location from which to explore one of the world’s great cities. 15 minute leisurely walk to the historic St. Luke Baths (Lukács Fürdö). The Castle District and caves, Andrássy Avenue, the Hungarian Parliament, the State Operahouse - indeed the whole World Heritage area are within very easy reach.

A major shopping centre (Mammut) and its adjoining (excellent) food market are both within 10 minute’s walk from the door and even nearer there are two local supermarkets, a fruit’n veg. shop, a drug store (health/beauty products store), a pharmacy, and a 24h grocery store.

Transport connections: The arterial and very new No.4/6 tram stops ~200m from the door as it crosses the road at the end of our street (i.e. not rolling past the apartment!). The M2 (red) metro line stops 10 minute’s walk from the door – or 2 stops on the M4/6 tram. Between the two of them they give excellent access to most of the city as well as the railway network. There is car parking within 5 minutes.

The apartment was built in 1920. Its high ceilings and large windows make it bright and spacious. Thick walls keep it cool in the summer and, along with a very effective heating system, keep it warm and cosy in the winter.

It comprises:

• a well-equipped kitchen with: a microwave oven, a full-sized oven and 5-place gas hob (with kettles), fridge-freezer, automatic washing machine and dishwasher, coffee maker and toaster;

• separate dining room

• Very spacious bright living room featuring a tall bay window, a large flat-screen television with DVD player, a stereo.

— TV channels in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Russian

• Two spacious bedrooms. The master bedroom features a tall bay window and has direct access to the bathroom.

— Iron and ironing board kept in wardrobe of master bedroom.

• Bathroom with shower, bathtub and bidet. Linens and towels.Hairdryer available.

About The Owner

We're an Irish/Hungarian couple with three children. We started our family here and have lots of amenities for younger guests too. Eventually the time came to relocate abroad and that's how the holiday rental opportunity came about.

The Owner purchased this apartment in 2007

Why The Owner chose Budapest

We bought the apartment to be our home in Budapest during our 6 year stay in Hungary. From the ad we knew the location was spot on - just on the borderlands between the quiet, residential second district and the bustle of the city centre. Indeed the river is a mere 10 minute walk from the front door.

We'd both lived in Pest on the East side of the river and so really appreciated the new-found quiet in the evenings that our new apartment would afford us. At the same time we were glad we were only minutes from the amenities of the downtown. No need to move to the sticks to bring up the kids and we could stay close to family and friends.

What makes this apartment unique

When we saw the apartment we decided straight away that this was it - even though it needed a major renovation! The high ceilings, the great use of space, the unusual angling of the walls and the large bay windows, make this a very bright airy but 'natural' space to live in.

Brilliant Base in Budapest

I have nothing but praise for this apartment. It is in an excellent location, 10 minutes walk to the Danube and 2 minutes to a tram stop which pretty much takes you wherever you need to go.The apartment is charming, spotlessly clean and comfortable, with just about every facility you need. Even though the temperature was in the 30's during our visit, it was always a cool, safe, quiet haven to return to. The owners were wonderfully helpful and welcoming:from the enquiry process right through to being greeted they were a mine of information. We have rented many apartments in Europe and this was one of our favourites. We are adamant we will return to Budapest one day and could not hope to stay anywhere better. Thank you so much, Gordon and Kati!

Great apartment in an excellent location

The apartment was in a superb location, a short walk away from a tram stop that would easily get you around Budapest. Although we never actually met, Kati and Gordon were excellent hosts, providing plenty of information about the apartment and things around it.

I'd say the only negatives were that the neighbours could get quite noisy in the evenings, and that it never got fully dark at night due to thin curtains.

But overall, we had an excellent time, and I would recommend staying here.

The location is indeed excellent and a perfect base from which to explore Budapest. Some neighbourhood noise is natural in such a central urban area, however closing the windows eliminates it inside the flat. Generally the area is quiet and always very safe. We’re puzzled by the comment on “thin curtains” since we have blackout curtains and shutters throughout the apartment which throw the place into darkness. We are contactable virtually 24/7 to help guests who raise any queries during their stay, and are happy to visit the apartment to sort out any issues.

Well equipped, comfortable, great location, helpful owners,

Property was located easy walking distance to the city transportation, owners give you tons of helpful traveling information. Read it!! Only reason for not giving this location 5 stars is the late night noise. We found closing the windows shut the noise out however. We would stay here again if visiting Budapest.

Generally the neighbourhood is very quiet despite being a residential area in the centre of a capital city. However, as you found out, our double-glazed windows block out any occasional noise.

Very nice, very well equipped apartment. It was just perfect for our family of four. Location is pretty much convenient. Easy to get everywhere. Owners are very friendly and responsive. Hopefully, we'll return sometime.

Outstanding apartment!

Everything was exactly as described in the rental listing for this apartment but we were still blown away at how spacious it was! The beds were super comfortable and the kitchen was well outfitted to make meal prep easy when we chose to 'eat in'. Spotlessly clean. Gordon and Kati were quick to respond to any questions we had before and during our stay. The apartment is very quiet and we loved the neighbourhood it is located in. Perfectly located to walk anywhere in this extraordinary city and to access bus/tram/metro transit. We strongly recommend this apartment and plan to stay here again when we return to Budapest.
