This holiday rental home is in a renovated 600 years old stone house. The first level includes living room with antique fireplace, kitchen, dining corner and toilet. The second level includes the master double bedroom, a children room with two beds, toilet and shower, and a beautiful terrace. The attic on the third level is lighted and airy and children like to use it as their 'secret' playground. The place is suitable for two couples or a couple with up to 3 children. The house is accessed through romantic medieval alleys. Enter through the main door to the feng shui, well balanced, perfectly square space of the first level, and open the windows. The unique sound and view of a beautiful waterfall against the wavy Tuscan hilltops and forests will undoubtedly fill you with calm and joy. The waterfall is lighted by night and is also visible from the second level master bedroom and shower windows. Ideally suited to the Slow Travel tourism of Pitigliano and beautiful surroundings.
I love Italy, and especially Pitigliano, and I would like to share this love with you, by offering you the best home way from home for your vacation, and also sending you detailed personal recommendations on the best places to be, eat and visit in Pitigliano and surroundings. And, if it is booked, I can also offer you Casa Belfiori, which is in the neighboring alley.
Meningher Herbert purchased this house in 2003
Casa Messi is unique even by Pitiglianese terms. The square aspect of the house is rare in the neighborhood, and the awesome view and relaxing sound of the cascade and Tuscan hills makes it special indeed. Sitting by the antique fireplace with a glass of Brunello, overlooking the cascade and simply relaxing, or taking a sunny morning breakfast in the terrace, across the antique roofs and in the view of Vicolo della Stella, ain't that something?
Casa Messi is perfectly located in the medieval part of Pitigliano, but it is close to a public parking. It is in a quiet alley, and yet centrally located and very close to restaurants, bars, shops, deli's, artisans and more. Especially good for cyclists, who can park in my cantina (local, detached basement) next by.
After two weeks in rental apartments in Italy, Hezy and Sharona's house was the first place we truly felt at home. The house was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, and the beds were extremely comfortable. The kitchen was well-appointed enough to cook entire meals easily.
Hezy also wrote up clear instructions on use of the house, what to see in the town and environs, and recommended restaurants in the area. Further, Hezy connected us to a wonderful local guide who took us to the Etruscan necropolis and the town of Sovana. She also spoke with clear knowledge of Pitigliano's Jewish past, and she was very warm and welcoming.
Hezy offered to go to whatever lengths necessary to ensure that we had a completely satisfying stay at Casa Messi and in Pitigliano, which made our stay very special indeed.
thanks Herbert .....the apartment was fantastic! It was well equiped, the views amazing and its was very comfortable. I would love to come back again
After a long train journey from Venice and an hour's drive we were met by our host Herbert who took us to the apartment. As soon as we stepped inside it surpassed all our expectations. Two bedrooms , a large bathroom and living area. The kitchen had all our needs too. On opening the windows we looked out to a wonderful view towards the forest, seeing the tree tops, sky and some of Pittglia no township
Perfect for exploring the area by foot, bike or car. Nice flat with everything you´ll need and very helpful owner.

I dont think anything I could write here, will convey accurately to fellow travellers the excellence of all aspects of this property, from first contact with Herbert, property owner and ultimate host, always answering any queries I had promptly and patiently, ....The spotless condition of this gorgeous 600 year old casa....The beauty of Pitigliano, definitely one of the most stunning hilltop towns in Tuscany and finally ,the warmth and hospitality of the Pitigliano community.
I have travelled most of the world, and can say, without a doubt,my time in this historic property, amidst the alleyways and beautiful architecture at every turn, will definitely be the bench mark for all my future ventures. Thankyou Herbert for your kindness and constant assistance during my sojourn in beautiful Pitigliano!!!
We stayed for 8 days with a 20 months old boy and had no problems of any kind. We loved the apartment, it was perfect, roomy, clean, well equipped, and had everything we needed. It is close to shops, cafes, and restaurants, but still very quiet and has a fantastic view. We rented bikes and it was a great way to see the countryside and the surrounding villages.
Herbert, the owner, provided perfect and instant service from first contact. He has made a house book with recommendations, which was very helpful and spot on. Also Herbert was very flexible when we had to postpone our planned stay.
We will anytime recommend Casa Messi – and thank you Herbert for a nice stay.
Pitigliano is a small, medieval, perfectly preserved Italian village in the south of Tuscany. It is centrally located between Florence, Sienna and Rome. The village offers all the tourist comfort with artisan and artist shops, quality restaurants, deli shops, home made pasta and local wine makers. The city is located on the top of a reddish volcanic tuffa rock, and the houses emerge from the rock and have the same reddish color. Due to the special view of the red rock which is flood lighted by nights the village is also called 'The little Jerusalem'.
The surroundings offer many days of activities, including natural spa's, Etruscan ancient tombs and manually digged paths (via cava), lakes. rivers, wineries, castles and many other beautiful villages and cities. Pitigliano has a 500 years old Jewish heritage, and recently more than 5 underground digged in the rock levels had been revealed in the Jewish Ghetto, under the Synagogue, including an antique Matza stove and kosher winery.
Other Activities: On Lago Bolsena, 25 minutes drive, water skiing and sailing
