One of the best holiday cottages around

  • 5 of 5

Had a brilliant weekend in Co.Mayo staying here with husband and two children aged 4 and 1.

Cottage is lovely, bigger than looks in photographs, and really homely with Catherine and Martin being great hosts. The children loved the animals and lots of little extras which really made it special!! Great location for visiting Go Mayo, Connemara and Galway. Hoping to visit again next year!

A haven of calm; great owners and a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

Fantastic facilities and the real centre of our holiday (two adults, two small children and a very elderly grandma). Martin and Catherine were brilliant - from the welcoming scones to our eventual departure (nobody wanted to leave). Our children could quite happily have spent the entire week playing with Jimmy the donkey, Rosie the mare and the two farm dogs (shy Jessie and energetic Phoebe). The spacious accommodation is a perfect focal point for any visit to the area - there are some wonderful places within easy reach (from beaches and countryside to museums and unique shopping places). The National Museum of Ireland: Museum of Country Life in Turlough (Castlebar) is well worth a visit - especially the onsite cafe with its homemade bread. The beaches on the west coast are real hidden gems, and it is very easy to be the only occupants. There is a decent-sized Tesco nearby, and a SuperValu supermarket - both are more than capable of catering for your holiday needs. All-in-all, a fab holiday, and we can't wait to return.

Fantastic Stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a wonderful time staying at Greenacres Cottage! The rural setting (complete with friendly donkeys!) is so charming, and the view from the bedroom windows, across the pastures and towards the high hills in the distance, was a treat to wake up to each morning. Still, the cottage is near enough to Ballinrobe to make going into town for a meal or groceries a quick trip. We loved coming home to the cozy peat stove after our excursions around Co. Mayo and Galway.

The owners were nothing but helpful and welcoming, even going so far as to have scones with better and jam waiting for us on our arrival, and hanging our laundry out on the line while we were out for the day. The cottage is great on it's own, but their warmth is what really makes this rental perfect. Highly recommended!

Fun home in a great location

  • 5 of 5

This nice large home is in a wonderful location to explore Connemara Nat'l Park, Galway, Sligo as well as a large portion of central Ireland. There are many beautiful drives, castles and historic places to visit. It is near Ballinrobe so shopping is convenient. Martin and Catherine were terrific hosts and were eager to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The furniture was comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. We would highly recommend this holiday home.

Warm welcome in a very cosy house

  • 5 of 5

My family and I, 8th of us including 4 children, stayed at the Concannon's cottage and felt like at home. Even with the bad weather the house seemed very cosy. Martin and Catherine were very kind and tried to cover all our needs. They facilitated our arrival as we had a late flight and we didn't need to book a hotel for the first night. By the way, it was great to have the electric blankets on so we could get into a nice warm bed! They were also setting the fire every day and when we arrive to the house after doing some sighteen it was warm and comfy.

The house is perfect for children. They even had the chance to get into Martin's tractor!

We recommend to visit the nearby village of Cong and have a walk up to Ashford Castle and the quiet man house. Also Connemara mountains and the fjord are brilliant.

If you can book it, you should BOOK IT

My husband, two elementary school-aged daughters and I spent far too short a time with the Concannons (and their horse, foal, Irish ass, cows, dogs, and etc.) on our recent trip to the west coast of Ireland. If we would have known how spit spot and cozy the cottage was, how incredibly welcoming the hosts would be, and how stunning the landscapes of Connamara we would have maxed out our vacation time and stayed even longer. The kids were thrilled start to finish with the fun of the farm, and the adults -- warming by the turf-burning stove and looking out on green pastures-- felt well taken care of. Highly, highly recommended.
