Dear Jacqueline, dear john,
we are by now returned to Leipzig and I want to thank you for your generous hospitality.
We enjoyed your marvelous and homely House and would say thank you for the patience of you, by arranging the additional beds and linnen for us.
We wish you I very good time and maybe we'll be back ;-)
Thank you for all
Beautiful, spacious house surrounded by the most outstanding scenery!! The majestic mountains were all around us. There is a nice master with on-suite bath and balcony with a gorgeous view. Big spacious patio for sitting and enjoying the views. Other rooms were nice and comfortable also. We enjoyed the movie room for the world soccer cup games.
We enjoyed sitting on the sun porch. The kitchen is nicely equipped for easy cooking.
The owners were very friendly and around to answer any questions you may have.
If I were to add anything, it would be a dryer and some soaps, etc. for the bathrooms.
Be very careful using their turn-around by the driveway.
There is much to see and do in Engelberg. We really enjoyed Brunni. We went there several times. They have an incredible playground for kids and an alpine slide for the older ones. There is a barefoot trail around the lake at top which is a great experience. We didn't get a chance to tour the Benedictine Monastery, but it looked very impressive.
The winter would be outstanding with the skiing in the surrounding areas. Taking the gondola to the top of Titlis is expensive , but well worth the visit to the glacier, ice cave, etc.
We were extremely pleased with the accommodations which housed 13 adults quite comfortably. The kitchen left us needing no any additional items, EXCEPT ice trays (Americans like their drinks cold). The lovely lower terrace was a real treat especially for our evening gatherings with views that were breathtaking in all directions. Overall, the house was lovely and very functional for our purposes. If future visitors plan to attempt excursions to other towns, be prepared for several hours of train rides round trip, which is not necessarily a bad thing (sights you will see with train travel in Switzerland--amazing). Unfortunately the expected travel time, for 1/2 of our group, prevented us from fulfilling plans to see more distant towns (however Lucerne and Zurich are very doable). The location of this house in Engelbert is best suited for visitors who are looking for comfort, relaxation and simply enjoying the beauty of the scenery during the summer months; you will not be disappointed if that is your expectation.
The hike up to and down from the house was a bit steeper and more challenging than we were led to expect, costing us round trip taxi rides everyday (unless guests are in exceptional condition, the average person will require transport assistance at least up). Our taxi driver was most gracious and accommodating. If guests arrive at a time when the local COOP is closed or not open on SUNDAYS, it would be nice to have full rolls of toilet paper and hand soap in ALL bathrooms...we were forced to be VERY conservative, even resourceful regarding use of these products.
Aside from these few comments/suggestions, we were VERY pleased with our stay in this lovely, well-maintained home in Engelbert, Switzerland. Thank you
Best experience ever had.
Great furniture and kitchen facilities.
Everything was as described in the images as well as description.
Very helpful nature of Mr. John it was great meeting him.
Overall superb experience.
The location of this property is amazing. It's overlooking mount Titlis and it's on the hill. Very peaceful and serene place overlooking mountains on all sides.
The owners are absolutely lovely. Jacquleine has been very quick to reply to all my queries even before I booked the place. After booking she also quickly drafted a letter to get the Schengen visa for part of our group. Both John and Jacqueline were at the property to greet us and showed us around. They were very quick to come over to the property if we needed any help. They were knowledgeable of the area and Switzerland in general.
The property is very spacious for a big party of people. The kitchen is very well stocked with utensils and gadgets. It was refurbished to a very high standard. The lounge had a home theatre system which was amazing for entertaining our teenagers and kids.
There were plenty of bed rooms and plenty of beds. The outside area was also very nice for a sunny day. Amazing views from all windows around.
Overall we had a great time and would recommend this property to anyone who wants to have a good time in Engelberg.
We stayed here for a week over Easter, the chalet is lovely, very roomy and the kitchen is more than well-equipped - something we found extremely useful as there were 9 of us staying here. The owners John and Jacqueline are lovely - great communication beforehand and brilliant whilst we were there - getting us crates of the local beer to enjoy and offering lifts down to the town centre. However, we enjoyed the 10/15 minute walk to the main lift to get us warmed up for a day of skiing. Skiing is great in Engelberg - mixed ability group and we all enjoyed it. Would love to come back here again, especially when the snow line is lower, and would consider going again in the summer too!
Brilliant skiing trip . House was very large and accommodating to everyone with plenty of space.
John and Jacqu very helpful with the best ski routes and top spots for daytime and busy nightlife aswell, but from around midnight it gets busy.
. Live bands in a few bars in town, aswell as good food.
John was very accommodating with the car to travel to the supermarket and ski hire.
Would be nice to return in summer and see the walking routes and bike trails!
Brilliant would go again
