Villa Pied dans l’Eau
The villa is very comfortable and the location is perfect. Swimming between the adjacent piers means the lake feels like another private pool. Sirmione has lots of tourists, but none came to our end of the peninsula unless they were lost, so it is very quiet without a trace of noise from restaurants or bars.
We didn’t hire a car as we simply wanted to stay in Sirmione. As the centre of town is full of tourists with very narrow streets, it would be a pain to drive through.
There were a few minor problems with the villa. We could not turn on the oven, although the gas rings worked. Also we could not close the villa gates. I reported these but no one came to help. Also, we could not find a switch to turn on the poolside lights. The internet worked on the first two days but not the last five days.
Good morning I'm the owner of the villa
I'm sorry you had these little problems but you had my phone number and you never called me.
I heard about the oven and now I'm activating for the repair.
If you had called me I would explain to you how to turn on the pool light.
The doors of the house are closed. I did not understand what does not close. If you instead refer to the entrance gate this did not close because the driver who brought you broke the photocell in making a maneuver. I could not know this and you should have warned me. Internet has been recharged for the month the day before your arrival. Unfortunately it is not unlimited and if you have downloaded a lot of programs and films this is exhausted. You could call me to recharge it.
Location, location, location
Despite nonexistent Wi-Fi and the stove you have to tinker with we love this place and it was our second time to rent it. We brought the family and there’s plenty of room for everyone. Be sure to get an opportunity to feed the swans. It is walking distance to everything that you could ask.
Amazing house. Great location and space. huge pool. Helpful host. Can walk anywhere. Comfortable beds and all the necessary amenities.
Only compliant was the internet - which the host explained and tried to help with... but if you plan to do a lot of work using the internet, it might be a problem
Location, location, location
This house is in the historic center of the beautiful village of Sirmione; which makes the location both good and bad. The house was built in the 60's and has customized furnishings, which make it very retro looking--very cool. It's at the the tip of the Sirmione peninsula, right on the lake with beautiful views, and easy walking into town for shops, restaurants, etc.--can't beat it! The problem is that because it's in the historic center, which is pedestrians only, you have to drive through tight streets full of pedestrians--quite the challenge. Patience and calmness are required--you will get the hang of it. The house is beautiful and clean and comfortable with a few exceptions: 1. The kitchen could use some updating--the burners on the stove/hob are difficult to ignite and control. The refrigerator had to be shaken to get the motor running, which then ran constantly and never really chilled the food sufficiently (the owner told us to not set it over 5, because then it would freeze). We kept it at 5, and the temperature eventually was cool enough to keep our food from spoiling, but ice did form in the back of the fridge after a couple of days. 2. The internet shut down after 4 days, so we had no internet for the last 3 days of our stay. The owner said she would take care of it, but it never did come back. We would get a message that the quota of bytes had been reached and we would have to pay for more capacity. We tried to do that, but since it was not our account, we couldn't. With seven adults in the house, and some having to conduct business while there, this was a major inconvenience. 3. The BBQ grill needs to be cleaned and restructured--not usable. 4. The a/c is only in the upstairs bedrooms, but if you keep the shades down during the day, the house stays fairly comfortable. 5. The two showers upstairs drained slowly; the tub leaked from the bottom; and the shower on the ground floor leaked very badly--soaking the floor. I just think the house needs a little TLC, and it will be perfect. In any case, we had a wonderful time.
