Substantial Villa of character, space and charm

  • 5 of 5

Matched our expectations in every way. Delightful host, comfortable accommodation and space to breath. The bed, linen, towels, bathroom accessories, all to a high standard, afforded a sense of understated luxury. We slept so well that the flexible breakfast times suited our relaxed mood. We had a small hire car so were ideally placed to explore Naples, historic sites, the coast and surrounding hills all within a short drive.

What an amazing visit!!!

  • 5 of 5

The pictures and description on this VRBO don't do the actual place justice! Such a beautiful setting with the age and character of the buildings. The hosts were so warm and welcoming with their hospitality and helpful suggestions on where to visit. The property also has a nice hike through their walnut trees, orange trees and apricot trees to a the top of the hill with a BEAUTIFUL view of the entire city. We were originally staying in Rome and visited our great grandparent's village in Vallata and came here afterward. The last day we got a special tour because of our interest in the antiquity of the place. It was seriously the highlight of our whole trip. This place beat Rome itself by a mile. So much rich history on the property and such an amazing job Gherardo did restoring and preserving the property. We stayed two nights and each morning picked oranges right off the trees! I don't think any other place in town could compare. Gherardo, let us know if you need a partner! Happy to help!

What a delight.

  • 5 of 5

What a delight. Tasteful, set in lemon and orange trees, and very comfy beds. To say nothing of the helpfulness and charm of Gherardo, who really could not have done more to make our stay enjoyable and full of good experiences. Highly recommended. Only problem is the dearth of restaurants in Nola.

Our Italian holiday

  • 4 of 5

I coulldn't have wished for a better location to introduce my family to the Italian way of life. Our hosts were generous and always availabe to give advice on places to go, things to eat.

30 minutes outside of Napoli meant we had the opportunity to mingle with the locals and discover a bit more about that part of the world (and very importantly not pay tourists prices).

We were lucky to have a car which without it would have been a nightmare holiday. We were 30 minutes away from Pompei and all the beautiful towns of the Amalfi coast full of people so it was always nice to come back to the tranquil palace (fully air con too).

The rooms were spacious and tastefuly decorated and always clean. We felt at home and not in a hotel and that was crucial.

The children were incredibly welcomed and enjoyed the swimming pool, the cats and the beautiful orange trees that surrounded us.

Breakfast was included and always had a healthy choice.

I think we could have done with a bigger fridge to accomodate all the girls (three of them) needs but we managed.

My advice would be not to stay as long as we did (10 days) as the choice of restaurants (pizza and pasta) was running thin being the August month.

It is the ideal spot for a romantic getaway, surrounded by beauty and history. And we will never forget out hosts.

We would go back and I have already spoken to all my friends about catelcicala.
