You rent the whole home, approx 70m2, perfect for two, It has a roof terrace with a beautiful view over the village and the valley towards the Mediterranean Sea. Our casita is an ideal starting point for hikes and walks in the Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara y Alhama Natural Park. With this natural park at only 10 minutes walking distance it's situated almost excellent. Nearest beaches are only a 25 minute drive away so it's perfect for beach going for those who do not wat to stay in an expensive and crowdy coastal town but still want to enjoy beachgoing. Because there is so much to discover staying a week is usually too short.
About the neighbourhood:
The house is situated in the old center of the village at just a short stroll from the pleasant squares and is very centrally located to good restaurants, cafes, tapas bars and small shops with local products. A bakery with daily fresh bread, croissants etc can be found 100 meters to the right of the house. Cómpeta is known for its Moscatel wines, bodegas, olive oil and orchards, the location on the route del vino. Cómpeta is situated next to the nature park Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara y Alhama.
Please note: Competa is a mountain village, this town has steep streets and streets with stairs, this includes the street to the house. This makes this moorish town and thus the house on one hand beloved by many and on the other hand a no go for people with mobility problems.
Competa has a lot of sun, because of its location at 600 meters altitude it is not swelteringly warm and it remains pleasant. The shady streets, a breeze from the valley and the nearby sea provide refreshment in summer. The average temperature in the summer months is around 25 to 28 degrees with daily sun. Also in the autumn (November) it is still very pleasant with afternoon temperatures between 12 and 18 degrees. Ideal for, for example, walks in the area. However, take into account a greater chance of precipitation in, especially, the winter. The winters are very similar to the English springs, everything turns green, there are chirping birds, it smells like fresh earth
We would like to welcome you in the most beautiful village of the Axarquia. Upon arrival we (I or my husband) will meet you at the house or, if you prefer, we meet you at a village square so you don't have to find your way in small steep streets with suitcases (or with a car). We like to show you the house and give you tips about the village, neighboring villages and its beautifull surroundings so you always know whats where in and outside the house. Because we live in this village we know what's going on and, depending on your interest, what might be nice things for you to do during your stay. We speak the languages: English, German, Dutch
