Quiet Front Line 3 Bedroom Cottage On The Beach & Within 5 Mins Walk Of Town
About Peter French
Peter owns a design firm in London, and his wife Shelagh is a professional artist to MA level; their experience and taste has been imposed onto this house for the benefit of everyone including themselves (when they get the chance to stay at the property themselves). They have three teenage daughters, and the whole family love the unique variety this area has to offer.
Peter French purchased this Cottage in 2013
Why Peter French chose Dawlish
I first went through Dawlish by train with my Dad in the late 70s and just fell in love with it. I have always wanted a seaside getaway, quiet but central and front-line; Dawlish and this house just ticks all the boxes for us. Picturesque town, thriving high street, clean beaches, wonderful walks and just endless things to do both at sea and inland. And as a regular user of Home Away, we know what the holiday maker wants. Taste, cleanliness, thoughtful design and great value. We are confident you will fall in love with this house and its location, and we want you to experience the wonder we still experience every time we go there.
What makes this Cottage unique
We waited around 3 years for the right property to come up. It had to be the right size, the right location and have the right outlook. This has it all, and whether its the middle of winter with a sea storm in full force, or the height of summer with tranquil sea breezes and soft waves lapping the Devonian red sand, this cottage will ensure you fall in love with everything inside and outside of the doorstep.

Overall good experience, comfortable and quiet
Fantastic Cottage overlooking the sea, it is fully equipped and has everything you need for your stay, and is beautifully furnished. We have been coming to Dawlish for many years, it's a great base for visiting Paignton, Torquay, Exmouth etc, we went to Dartmouth this time, taking the ferry from Kingswear. The owner kept in regular contact and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your wonderful cottage. We will be back.
Wonderful location, brilliant views and a lovely cosy apartment.
A great place to stay for peace and quiet and just to watch the world go by.
If you love good food go to Rodean Restaurant, ten minutes away or the Crab Shack in Teignmouth, around 15 minutes, both by car.
Lovely walks in the country or by the sea, enjoy.
The property was idyllic. The best place to stay if want to experience the Jurassic coastline.
We have visited this part of Devon, for family holidays, for over ten years. This was undoubtedly our best trip to date due to the stunning positioning, views, interior and overall feel of this property. Plenty of space within, lots of comforts, the property feels like a true home from home. Great location for Dawlish centre, close walking distance and also great to get the train from. Very quiet and peaceful, very low road noise, the lapping on the waves is the overall background noise. Literally a stones throw to the beach.
Very comprehensive property manual and document, also the owner is a pleasure to deal with. Could not recommend this property enough.
Absolutely one of the best cottages we have have rented anyway
It is hard to adequately describe the view, the town of Dawlish and all the wonderful areas surrounding this cottage
Lovely property, with great views across the sea and a 2 minute walk to sea wall
We really enjoyed our stay at 9, Coastguard’s. Spacious, modern and comfortable with an amazing view both from inside the property and on the patio area across the sea, and the GWR to watch the trains zoom past! Lovely to be able to hear the sea throughout our time too! The property had everything we could wish for during our stay. Great base to visit so many places in South Devon - Paignton Zoo, South Devon Railway, Buckfast Abbey; Teignmouth and Shaldon and to walk along the coast wall to Dawlish Warren. Peter was quick to respond to queries we had prior to our journey. We would highly recommend to anyone wishing to take a break in this beautiful part of England.
Walk east along the sea wall to Starcross and take a boat to Exmouth. Or walk west along the sea wall to Teignmouth marina. Hire a boat and go sailing or fishing. Take a train to Exeter or Plymouth and go shopping. Visit Dawlish Warren nature reserve just 1km east. Go inland 8 miles onto Dartmoor. Or just watch the various steam trains that prevail in the summer months, the Dawlish Air Show in August each year or the twinkling boats and stars at night from your own private patio.
