Why Anthony Cooper chose Villard-Reculas
Chalet L'Aurelie is a traditional stone chalet , set in the old part of the quiet sunny south facing Village of Villard Reculas and yet is...... connected directly into 240 kms of varied snow-sure skiing for all levels. And in the summer it transforms in to carpets of colour , a hiking and cycling heaven.
What makes this Chalet unique
Villard Reculas is the antidote to stressy non-stop life that we now find ourselves now living in. Come and relax, switch off your phone and enjoy breath taking views, because you have probably earned it!

A lovely home from home
This review is based on a skiing party's experience.
We had a fantastic stay in Chalet L' Aurelie. We arrived at 01:00 due to the vagaries of the British weather/Airlines/Baggage handlers etc. Anthony, our host was there to greet us and I am pretty sure he had a smile on his face too. He had taken delivery of an order from Carrefour delivered to the chalet, everything very kindly stowed away...and it certainly was no fault of Anthony's that the order delivered bore very very little resemblance to the order placed..ha..probably lost in translation ! Sunday morning Anthony was up again bright and early to help show us the ropes and sort out the local ski school for one of our team, which was very much appreciated. (the guys in the ski hire shop were a pleasure to deal with too)
The chalet is splendid. It is furnished to a very high standard with more than enough facilities and equipment to produce any meal you would like. The raclette machine was a particular favorite with our party. The sitting area is very comfortable with an open fire which made for pleasant evenings sat around discussing the finer points of skiing backwards downhill when you really did not want to. A music system linked to any device you might bring along, helped too. The bedrooms are very comfortable and the whole chalet is pleasantly warm with underfloor heating. Our only comment to Anthony on our leaving was the fact that the photographs on the site do not do the chalet justice. It is a real gem and Anthony is an excellent host.
Villard-Reculas is picture postcard French mountain village, it is beautiful. Access into the Alpe D'Huez ski system is simple once you have got yourself to the Villard-Reculas slopes. Access to the slopes from the chalet is , in my opinion, by one or two methods, your own transport to what is virtually and empty car park or via the Free shuttle bus which runs for a couple of hours each end of the day plus an hour or so in the middle of the day. The walk up the hill for a chap of my advanced years , in boots was not an option, though a couple of the younger members of the party did indeed make the walk. The shuttle bus, by the way is driven by the unhappiest man in the alps...ha.. not that this spoiled our experience in any way. Nightlife in Villard-reculas? there is none...so if you want lots of Apres-Ski, then you should look elsewhere. This was a major benefit as far we are concerned, we made our own Apres Ski, happy days.
If people didn't want to come back again.... it would be because we are doing something wrong! It's a fab chalet and ski domaine. So, service with a smile and see you again very soon!
Great cosy chalet
Quiet, cosy, spacious chalet, very well equipped and with perfect hosts close by. Great for anyone seeking a quiet chalet in an old traditional village with good ski links.
Thank you - do come back again soon! Anthony & Sheilah
Lovely comfortable chalet with amazing views
We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful chalet, which has been so carefully restored. It is located in the heart of the village, and is a short (5 minute) walk from the ski hire shop and village store. The piste is a short walk further on and from there you have easy access to the full range of Alpe d'Huez skiing. The views are spectacular from the chalet, the kitchen is well equipped and we enjoyed the open fire, underfloor heating and overall comfort. Thanks for a great stay!
Perfect chalet in an unspoilt village
Amazing holiday. Villard Reculas is beautiful and a peaceful escape from the big resorts. Ski-ing easily accessible and the kids had a great week at ESF. The chalet has everything you could need and Anthony and Sheilah were so welcoming and helpful. We would highly recommend it. Rebecca, Tony, Ben and Grace
This is the first review i have ever written. This property is stunning. The listing didn't do this place justice, it is beautiful. The owners are lovely people who had thought of everything. The response time from the owner was very quick and extremely helpful. The village and surrounding area is just amazing. I would recommend it to anyone.
